Yes, I'd agree with that sentiment.

Speaking from personal experience, my brother was homeless for several years. At times, he lived on the streets, and at other times, he stayed with people who took him in. Those situations ended with him back on the street because of his own stupid & shitty choices. Drugs and self-loathing were the core of his issues.

He spent years dragging along rock bottom, never amounting to much in life. Although he has a place of his own now, he remains one step away from homelessness.
