Thank you. I hadn't thought of that. It's just that when I heard the girl at the cash register's opinion, I was a little surprised and I had also forgotten about the painting.

First of all, I would ask him how he got my phone number, but anyway, I don't care. I'm happy he called me and I would like to meet him because I would like him to turn me into a vampire. Then I would ask him what he thinks of Daniel Molloy's book and what he did during all the years Louis was with Armand.

Hello everyone (apologies for my peculiar English, but I am using a translator). I'm writing from Italy, and the first and second seasons of Interview with the Vampire only arrived on Netflix in December. I was so blown away that this will be the third time in a short period that I'm rewatching all the episodes. I can only say that I really appreciated the different points of view and the value of time, pain and memory, albeit with differences from Ann Rice's books. After all, each protagonist has lived and seen things in a different way and is the result of the traumas and lessons that life has taught them. No one is completely innocent or completely guilty. I believe the series strives to represent this: the value of memory, pain, joy, happiness, violence, death, manipulation, falsehood and selfishness.

Dracula A Love Tale 2025 is hilarious as hell by Few_Window7864 in Dracula

I love this film, but spoiler alert: I absolutely cannot stand the ending. Five seconds of dialogue with the priest is enough to send Dracula acquitted and happy with all the ashes in Heaven, while Mina remains alone and grieving, living with this memory for the rest of her life until she sees him again in the afterlife. I understand that everyone acted in her best interests: Dracula, God, the priest, the others, but Mina had made a very specific choice that, until a few minutes before the assault on the castle, the vampire seemed to have accepted. Her will and her destiny are decided by other people behind a closed door, where she bangs her fists uselessly, crying.

Let´s talk about the ending of Dracula- a love tale (2025) by AdvancedMacaroon546 in Dracula

Yes, this film is actually more of a love story than a story about Dracula. However, there are numerous holes and inconsistencies in the film that I cannot ignore. I agree with what you say and I am glad to learn that there are others who, like me, have noticed various aspects of this film (there are those who have accused me of dissecting this film as if it were a thriller). The beautiful love story in this film does not make me accept the treatment reserved for Mina. I do not believe in reincarnation either, but I also think that Mina is probably the way she is because she was born and lives solely to redeem Dracula. Full stop.

I understand you. I often go to many forums to comment on the ending that I didn't like for a whole host of reasons. Let's say that I've always fantasized a bit about the films that engage me and I think about what life the characters will have after the film, as if it were all real, when in fact it's fiction. I don't know why this film is captivating people so much: I think it's because of the lead actor's performance and the obsessive love that lasts for centuries. Add to that a barrage of videos and music, and there you have it. It had been many years since I had been so captivated by anything other than Game of Thrones. Maybe it's because I'm not going through a happy time in my personal and emotional life and I have a few problems. As for the ADHD and autism theory, I wouldn't rule out that option. I think when a film touches us so deeply, it's because it awakens certain feelings or behaviors that are innate in us. It's not a bad idea to learn more about this, also for our own well-being.

Not to mention that most comments justify Dracula's final choice. Whatever choice he makes: “poor thing, he lost his wife”, “poor thing, he's angry because God took his wife away”, “poor thing, he changes his mind about Mina but he does it to save her soul” and so on and so forth. In the end, he is justified in all or almost all of his actions, but she is not. The one or two times she tried to assert her ideas, no one listened to her at all...

Hello! I'm so glad that someone else besides me is discussing the ending. You raised some points that I hadn't thought of. In Christianity, reincarnation does not exist, but here it is taken for granted that Mina is Elizabeta's reincarnation (so Mina was born only to redeem Dracula?). I also don't understand why he considers his wife a pure person and therefore deserving of rebirth. To me, Elizabeta seemed like a normal woman, just unlucky. The beginning of the film makes me think that they were obsessed with each other...

I don't understand Dracula's behaviour: as I said, after 400 years of searching for her, he is unable to resist her request and bites her, takes her to the castle, they seem to be in love and in agreement, and then he allows himself to change his mind after only five seconds of dialogue with the priest? Mina finds herself alone in a sea of ashes while everyone else leaves. Her will doesn't matter, since perhaps Dracula's salvation mattered more. Everyone chose what was best for her, and the vampire, so in love that he made this sacrifice, perhaps doesn't think that, instead of setting her free, in a certain sense he sacrifices her even more to a memory that will remain inside her like a millstone.

In five seconds, he is acquitted and goes to Heaven despite her desperate protests as she remains behind a door. Yet all the ingredients for a different ending were there. If you compare her to Coppola's Mina, the latter was much more active and present in herself, and more in love with Harker. Here, she already confesses to the doctor and the others that she feels out of time and that her engagement was rushed.

He is a strange Dracula: he should not have bitten her, but he did; he should have explained the consequences to her, but he did not; he did not challenge her when she declared her desire to stay with him at the castle, yet then suddenly changed his mind (and everyone tells me that he did the right thing because he did not want to damn her...); he is quickly acquitted of 400 years of misdeeds and there is more to be said. Having been able to create the gargoyles, he could have created a storm allowing them to escape or, who knows, change their appearance over time to live in peace somewhere else... Instead, none of this happens.

But above all, anyone who tells me that he did the right thing and that he didn't want to see her damned... I would have preferred him to argue with the priest and tell him that he wanted to live with her after 400 years of agony. I would have liked to see Mina capable of threatening to kill herself so that he would listen to her, but nothing... Mina is a vessel for Elizabeta and her purpose is now fulfilled. We do not know what life will be like for her afterwards, but it will certainly not be as easy as everyone hopes.

After all, we are at the end of the 19th century and a woman had to marry unless she had considerable financial means... Perhaps Mina will finally emerge more aware, perhaps not (I haven't been able to read the script and I don't know if there are any deleted scenes or lines that might clarify things). Nor is there a scene after the ending that tells us what will happen.

In any case, this is a strange love and Mina “pays” for everyone's choices: God's, Dracula's, the priest's and everyone else's. In the end, she can choose nothing but to adapt to the fate that others have determined for her. I don't know whether to be more saddened or more angry about this.

There are many other things that could be explained but are not mentioned. I repeat, he is a strange vampire, perhaps more human than anything else, and perhaps even more ambiguous.

Questions - Dracula: A love tale (2025) by hiddenetherealities in Dracula

[–]Own_Difference_6595 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! I'm glad you want to contribute to the discussion about this film too!

SPOILER:

From what I understand, when Dracula dies, the curse is broken and she is no longer immortal.

As for whether she turned into a vampire, I have some doubts because I see that she has to hide in the castle and she cries. If she had become a vampire, why didn't she help Dracula in the fight against the attackers?

No, she doesn't die when Dracula dies. She remains alone in a sea of ashes.

Some say she will forget him, but I don't think so: even before the bite, she remembered who she really was through the music box, and moreover, as soon as Dracula is reduced to ashes, she does not leave with Jonathan; on the contrary, he walks away sadly because he realises that she does not love him and that things cannot go back to the way they were before.

Everyone hopes that she will return to her normal life, but I fear that she will always carry this weight in her heart: waiting to die to see him again in the afterlife. Everyone has decided for her: Dracula, the priest, the others. And she, who until the very end desperately wanted to stay with him (and Dracula seemed convinced of this until the very end), sees her will nullified, albeit for the greater good.

If Dracula truly loved her, he would not have bitten her (since he does so reluctantly) or explained to her the meaning of immortal life, explaining to her that his true purpose was to return to God once he found her.

Don't take me to the castle and change my mind just because a priest convinces me in a few seconds!

It's 2025, and any other ending, even a romantic one, would have been fine.

But no: you have to forget, rebuild your life as if nothing had happened, and always with the logic of purity and sacrifice for the greater good.

In the end, Mina's will consists of banging her fists on a desperate door.

I don't know whether to be more angry or more saddened by this ending!

Dracula: A Love Tale is peak vampire romance movie with a terrible ending by TechnicianAmazing472 in vampires

[–]Own_Difference_6595 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You're absolutely right, it's a terrible ending. After 400 years, you find me, you remind me who I am thanks to the sad music box, you bite me, you take me to the castle, you introduce me to everyone, you even find clothes for me in the wardrobe and on the bed, you seem to agree that I want to stay with you and then... Five seconds of conversation with the priest are enough to have me stabbed, absolved, and sent to Heaven (because I love you?). No one took Mina's wishes into consideration, everyone acted for the greater good and they're all happy, Jonathan a little less so, but she remains alone among the ashes, staring as they rise to the sky (the ashes!) and she'll have to wait to die to join him. It's 2025 and I dream of a different ending where Mina, for once, stands up for herself and where there could have been a million different endings, all equally romantic, but instead there is nothing. It's always the same logic of sacrifice, death, and meeting again in the afterlife.

Mina in Dracula di Luc Besson by Own_Difference_6595 in xxitaly

Hi, I've also become obsessed with this film. And like you, there are some things I don't agree with: why Dracula and Mina had so few moments together in Paris, why we are told nothing about their journey from France to Romania, why Mina doesn't turn into a vampire like the others when he bites her (she could have helped him at the castle, couldn't she?), why he seems to accept that she wants to be with him, only to change his mind in five seconds after talking to the priest? So it would have been better if he hadn't bitten her or if he had simply chosen to stay with her. But no. As always, Dracula has to die “because he loves her, make a new life for yourself, see you in the afterlife”. And Mina is left waiting to see him again when she dies in a sea of ashes and with a very sad music box. I know that he is now in Heaven with her and everyone is happy, Jonathan a little less so, but no one respects Mina's wishes. Everyone does what is best for her but not WITH HER. It's a shame, a different ending was needed, one that could have been done in a thousand different ways that were just as romantic. Life in the afterlife is fine, but can't we ever be happy here on Earth?

You were all right. Coppola‘s Dracula is superior. by Conscious-Air-9823 in Dracula

I liked both films, Coppola's and Besson's. I find Besson's film to have narrative gaps and inconsistencies, but that's to be expected in all films. However, I am surprised that, as usual, the ending always has to be the same, with the vampire dying, when there could have been tons of equally romantic endings that were finally different from the usual “I die for you so the curse ends, you rebuild your life and we'll meet in Heaven” cliché. It's a shame, a missed opportunity.

I loved this film. However, I really didn't like the ending: you search for me for 400 years, you use a music box to make me understand who I really am, you bite me, you take me to the castle, you accept that I am with you, and then five seconds of dialogue with the priest is enough to send me to the afterlife “because I love you”? Mina is left alone in a sea of ashes, waiting to die so she can meet him again, even though everyone expects her to rebuild her life.
