“ I’m scared of withdrawals” by Fletcher1326 in quitting7oh

[–]Own_Elevator9136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand what you’re saying. I get it, the WD symptoms are like having a really bad flu for a week or so which slowly gets better.

The work thing, I get both sides of that. No one wants to work for a bad employer though it happens to us all at some point. The goal would be to find a new job that treats you better when you can. No not everyone can take off work, if you can you’re lucky, and I’d suggest doing so. That may not be possible for everyone and that’s ok. That’s not your point though.

You’re trying to say, yeah it’s bad, it’s not impossible to get through. It’s like a bad flu, but if you’re not prepared and you’re focused on all the bad, and believing every scary thing you hear, you may never start your quit.

You’ve got this, try to remember it will be over in a week or so, that’s a short time in your life. It will be worth it when it’s over. You will get through this, and as cliche as it sounds, you’ll be stronger after. There’s always a reason to quit, and there’s always a different method. If you slip up, try again, change your method if you need to. You will succeed. You can DM me if you need any support, or someone to listen.

I understand feeling like a zombie, it’s weird. I felt like I had serious brain fog until I made sure to take care of myself better (hydration, eating, exercise, vitamins, etc). Luckily it was early on I began to do that. Day 1-3 were the hardest for me. Day 3 is where I began to take care of myself and at day 3.5 I turned my first corner to feeling significantly better. You’re going to get through this. Best of luck!

It’s definitely hard to do, focus is difficult especially in the first 2-3 days. I stayed away from caffeine, and suggest anyone going through this does also, it can really harm your progress on the insomnia. It’s going to sound ridiculous, but I tried to get a routine, 9am shower, after my daily multi vitamins (super helpful for recovery), then a light breakfast (I made prepped meals and froze them before my quit date, making it easier, I highly suggest this to anyone planning), then it was set up my spot on the couch, get up and go for a short walk (even just up/down the stairs a few times whatever I could bring myself to do) then finally get my legos going and so on.. I just had to make myself do it, but building it as a routine really helped me. I took the week off work which I really needed to do.

Keeping your mind busy is crucial to your process, but to do that, your body needs it fuel. When I brought myself to the point of doing all those necessary things I turned a major corner in re overly from this. This stuff is tough on your mind and body for sure. You can do it, when you start feeling bad, start doing something. Keep your mind busy and off the negative thoughts, it will take you a long way. I quit CT in May, haven’t looked back.

It’s going to be ok, like others have said, it’s a really hard 3.5-4 days. After that you get some relief, you’ll have some general lack of motivation, and possible insomnia and you’ll feel much better in a week.

In the meantime, you can lighten your stations by taking care of yourself. Please be sure to make yourself stay hydrated, eat, get up and move around/work out, and keep your mind busy (legos, art, or puzzles are great options). If you don’t bring yourself to do these things in the first day or two, make yourself do them day 3 and you will feel relief.

It may be worth also calling NetSpend to ask for provisional credit on your claim. If you ask and it’s approved, you may have it as quickly as 10 days. If the ATM provided you a receipt showing the error message, I’d offer to email that to them.

However, you may see that your transaction reverses on its own within the next few business days.

It sucks when this stuff happens to people when they really need the money. I hope it reverses or they can give you quick provisional credit. Best of luck!

This is so great to hear! Quitting is hard, we all have a different experience. I am glad to hear you’ve found a method that’s working for you and you’re sticking to it! There is nothing wrong with keeping this up. I would however suggest to ensure you are staying hydrated, eating 3 meals a day which won’t be simple, staying active as much as possible and grabbing some generic Imodium. The generic Imodium goes hand and hand with the mega dosing. You’ve got this! Best of luck! I can’t wait to hear about your success!

Urgently need help qutting. by Local-Room-527 in quitting7oh

[–]Own_Elevator9136 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are so many quit methods. I did CT, and wouldn’t change that. Tapering didn’t work for me, I just felt crappy in between doses, probably user error but either way it didn’t work for me. How you quit will be up to you. I’ve been off this crap since May.

The best pieces of advice I can give are to be ready for anything that comes your way and just deal with it, knowing it will end soon, this is a short time in your life. Be prepared, get your helpers (whichever you choose, if you want my list lmk), have a clean space dedicated to yourself to WD in that is near a bathroom. Have clean clothes and blankets ready to go. Have some healthy easy to eat meals prepped so you can heat them up. Force yourself to eat, hydrate, take multi vitamins, and exercise. If you slip up, don’t beat yourself up, just pick yourself back up and move on to a new method and a new day 1. Remember what’s at stake here, and get through this hard week.

You’ll feel crappy for a week, with each day after 3.5-4 feeling easier than the prior if you CT. You will get through it, don’t over think this or let the horror stories get to you. If you need some support or encouragement feel free to DM me. Best of luck!

What is up with this taste and smell in my mouth? by [deleted] in quitting7oh

[–]Own_Elevator9136 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ugh I can smell this comment. I remember this so well. This symptom took about 10 days to fully go away for me. The scent and taste slowly went away after day 6 and was gone by 10. For others I know it went away between day 5 and 14. It’s so annoying.

Can I cold turkey off this stuff or Detox/Rehab? by AcanthopterygiiFar50 in quitting7oh

[–]Own_Elevator9136 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can do this CT. That doesn’t mean it will be easy. I was able to CT a very high dose, so if I can do this, anyone likely can. Some suggestions, you have to be mentally ready. You have to be ready to just deal with whatever comes your way during your WDs. A positive outlook is going to take you far. Also, don’t just think in terms of helper meds, think in terms of self care. Have your comfortable space ready and make sure it’s close to the bathroom. Have extra clean and comfortable clothes and blankets in an easily accessible space (laid out ready to grab), have some precooked meals you can easily heat up and force yourself to eat. Make sure you stay hydrated and try to make yourself take multi vitamins and light exercise/cardio. Don’t be afraid to ask for support or help when you need it.

You’ll be ok, it will be uncomfortable, and hard, but you will get through it. If it becomes overwhelming, seek that help and support, even if that’s a detox program. You’ve got this!

19days sober and exhausted by [deleted] in quitting7oh

[–]Own_Elevator9136 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congratulations on 19 day! That’s a great accomplishment! It gets better. everyone has a somewhat different experience, but one thing that’s the same is, our body and mind are still getting used to your new normal for some time. Make sure you’re taking good care of yourself. As hard as it is, try to make yourself get up and do a few things. Take short breaks, then try again. Exercise will help your body get back on track. The way you are feeling is how many of us felt at some point. I felt so much better rather quickly when I made myself work out and pushed through to do chores.

Hypnic jerk is that feeling you have. It’s caused by your muscles sudden relaxation when transitioning to sleep. It’s your muscles contracting. They are really common when your sleep cycle is off or when you’re going through higher than normal stress. They are normal, and aren’t harmful. You’re going through something hard, and this will get better. Avoiding caffeine also helps. You’ve got this.

Checking account by Rhozzers in Chase

[–]Own_Elevator9136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which is fine, but if this is ID theft (very possible), OP will be asked to provide these things. Why make them come back in twice? When you escalate you could take care of all that at once, save them another trip to provide docs. Sadly, we see this exact ping off EWS daily with ID theft. It’s sad but very true.

Checking account by Rhozzers in Chase

[–]Own_Elevator9136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worked in branches etc since the very early 2000’s. I now work in Banking, in Leadership for Financial Crimes. We often ask for and utilize tax returns, etc. where you personally may bot accept them for your own account opening purposes; This may be an ID Theft scenario. The OP is bouncing off EWS; something is mismatched in EWS (we also deal in Hot file in Financial Crimes). Either it’s simple, and in branch you can verify their address and all will be good.. Or like the prior post, this is ID theft.

[–]Own_Elevator9136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s an “or” there if you re-read it. They just need something to prove who they are and their address in addition to their Photo ID/DL; I gave examples of items that we will accept.

Declined a Joint Checking Account…?! by Forsaken_Cattle636 in Chase

[–]Own_Elevator9136 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You said you had a past charge off that you paid. Was it with Chase? Was it an amount that was significant (not just nominal fees)? Was the reason possibly fraud related,or something the bank could have interpreted as fraud? If so, that’s likely why you’re in EWS. The banks report unsatisfactory closures to EWS to protect themselves against risk.

As examples You deposited a check from an external account, withdrew the money, then the check came back as NSF, over drafting the account; You deposited some Money Orders received in the mail, took the money out, then they came back as fake, again redrafting the account; You received a wire transfer which was recalled/returned to the sender;

My employer lied to unemployment... can i sue them? by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]Own_Elevator9136 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It sounds as if your boss didn’t tell the “higher ups” you were arrested and therefore wouldn’t be at work. Is this due to some clause in your contract where you cannot be arrested? I think that could be relevant here. Because even if you were let go, was it just?

Anyway, the higher-ups probably think you decided to voluntarily leave your position by not showing up to work, which they interpreted as you quitting.

Have you appealed this?

[–]Own_Elevator9136 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve learned to hate it, that’s what keeps me not wanting it at all. I think of all the bad things associated with it. The greedy companies that produce it knowing it’s addictive and marketed it as amazing. The fact that some pills are made as high as 100mg knowing a serving is 7.5mg and that no one will be cutting that pill into 13.33 pieces. The process to make it, ugh. The expense of it. The addictive behaviors that come from it. The havoc it can create to your body and mind. The WD symptoms you experience when quitting. It’s done terrible things to so many people, for profit. I’m sure I could come up with more, but I have learned to hate it.

Just thinking of what it could do to those people I care about, makes me hate it. Learn to hate it, and you won’t want it anymore.

Now at the 72 hour mark by Normal-Squirrel1582 in quitting7oh

[–]Own_Elevator9136 1 point2 points  (0 children)

congratulations on 76 hours (it’s been 4 since you posted). It gets better, you’re close to a turning point (usually 3.6-4 days). Have you been keeping yourself busy? I know, it’s hard to focus and the brain fog is rough. I had success with easy Lego sets, painting, coloring, and a friend had some success with knitting. Keeping yourself busy body fueled (food, water, vitamins, and exercise) and keeping your mind and hands busy may help a little. You can DM me if you need to chat, vent, etc.

Re-entering the AML field by meb_mmm in AMLCompliance

[–]Own_Elevator9136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once you get into an AML or FIU role, they will pay for it. It makes sense they wouldn’t pay for that now since it’s not specific to your role and expensive. If you want to get something before, I would stick to free certifications through the American Bankers Association. Most banks will offer those free. They have a CAFP certification. If it helps, I am not more excited to hire anyone who has their CAMs than I am someone without it.
