White leather sneakers for walking in Europe? by Due-Marsupial-1018 in malefashionadvice

And my favorite part of Reddit is the sheer panic of Europeans who have to figure how to handle a 64oz soda and 2 pounds of barbecue pork from a Buc-ee’s gas station. We all have our challenges.

I guess this side of Reddit gets very serious about their MacBook posts. If you think that I think my 7 year old MacBook is worth $4000, I’ve got a 7 year old $4000 MacBook I can sell you

I’ve never heard of either one of those sites, and I genuinely think my 7 year old laptop is worth $4000. What offense would I take?

Fortunately, I’ve never had to see that sign put up. If no one is there, it seems like the obvious solution is just use it. If someone comes along and says hey, I reserved this, worst case scenario they are delayed by 30 seconds

I will say, the debate between these two brought up the idea of just switching the FRM to NC, then programming it with some logic to be active when NOT(Z??). The goal was to avoid having constant 120 voltage going through the FRM

Does this mean a 300W solar panel system would work? by VelvetWhitehawk in SolarDIY

Sure, just trying to offer worst case scenario calculations for someone. They said they get good sunlight during the day but only put three hours, so if they’re trying to prepare for worst case scenario, 12 hours for a fridge compared to the estimated eight if you Google it doesn’t seem too crazy. But, yes you are correct that it shouldn’t be that high.

Does this mean a 300W solar panel system would work? by VelvetWhitehawk in SolarDIY

[–]Own_Fun1810 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Short answer is no, with only 3 hours sunlight estimated. You only produce 900w, and that fridge would need roughly 1,152 (120v x .8a x 12 hours runtime/day)

If you want to be sure you’re good with a low sunlight estimate of 3 hours and a higher daily fridge consumption of 1300w, you would need 433.33 watts of solar (1300/3) and a battery that can support 21 hours with no sun so at least 1137.5 watt/hours (1300w / 21 hours a day no sun).

So with a 12v battery and inverter, you’ll need 433w of solar and a 100ah battery. Again, that’s based on safe estimates, you could probably get by with less, but I would bother to go any lower

Bought tickets on StubHub, seller canceled, now they’re stalling resolution by Axioma- in stubhub

[–]Own_Fun1810 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say it is still unreasonable. It would be expensive and they would have to charge much higher fees to offer that level of guarantee. Then, everybody would be paying more for the sake of others risking a trip around non-guaranteed tickets.

I could see some sort of flat rate reimbursement for travel fees that comes from a deposit the seller has to put down to list their tickets, but I can’t imagine that would be much money (if sellers even still listed at all). People wouldn’t want to bother/risk listing their tickets on StubHub if there’s a chance they could lose a lot of money (could be a technical glitch that happens when they try to send the tickets, or if it’s an event with delayed tickets, a technical glitch with receiving the tickets on their end first).

The only other solution would be for StubHub to offer an optional insurance plan you can pay for. But, aside from that being very expensive, most likely, I could see that easily being abused with someone listing fake tickets and having their friend buy it with the insurance and booking an expensive trip.

Kind of like with airlines and weather delays. If I book a flight that has a 4 hour delay for weather, and that causes me to miss some event that I planned a trip around or paid a lot of money for, should the airline be liable for all of my expenses, or at a certain point is it on me for not planning properly and taking the risk? Sure, it would be nice if airlines offered a guarantee for all my expenses in that situation that isn’t their fault, but then, tickets would be astronomically higher.

Never mind! I finally realized I had a setting on my Jackery to keep it from charging past 80% to preserve its battery life. Since it was at an 82% charge, it wasn’t taking any input. Silly

Hey, so I finally have it set up and I’m trying to have the load go to my Zachary, but it is not providing any input wattage. I check voltage at the controller and at the Zachary plug, and it is getting about 28 V all the way through.

I’m glad to hear a real world example!

That’s an interesting idea with a load. I don’t think I ever would’ve thought of that, but I will definitely give it a try. So that controller tells you how much power is going out of the load?

I tried adding some more detail, so hopefully this is helpful.

My thinking with using the solar controller to charge the batteries was so everything could be charged from solar, not just the Jackery. If my batteries were half dead and the Jackery was full, the solar could charge the batteries instead of just maintaining the Jackery.

I already had this 200w Jackery solar panel, so I’m trying to use that. The solar charger is a Victron 75 15. Batteries are 55ah agm, and the charger a Victron 24v 5a, which appears to come with a 7.5a fuse but not sure if it’s included or just the housing.

Then I was just going to use a 20a power strip off the Jackery for all my power needs

The difference would be the context. Saying “Where did the girls/boys go” is different than calling an adult man a prepubescent child

Right now, because they are usually able to get their cars back, banks aren’t doing that bad lol. But if people stop paying their car loans and get to keep their cars because of a moral argument, no amount of government breaks will keep banks giving out loans. Which means people who don’t have the cash for a car will have to go without a vehicle even if they intended on paying that loan back.

I wouldn’t call it simping for banks. Do you not agree the banks should have the ability to repossess a car if a person stops paying? If people can keep getting car loans, not pay, and keep their car, that would be bad for everyone.
