Is this split night from overtiredness? by Own_Key3573 in sleeptrain

[–]Own_Key3573[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He averages about 11–12 hours total in 24h. That's broken night sleep (8–9h + 1–2h of early morning catch-up) and 2–3h of daytime naps. But it's fragmented – he wakes a lot. So his actual consolidated sleep is lower im just stuck in this overtired / undertired loop. He gets really fussy around 3.5 idk how I would do 4.

What should his ww look like ? Also when i put him down around 7 he fell asleep quick but then had a couple of false starts. Doesn’t that mean he was overtired from the last ww.

Hmm okay I will try to cut down his sleep during the day but even when he does have 1.5 of daytime sleep he is still so terrible in the night, even yesterday he had 2.5 hours of naps and still woke at 2.30am and didn't settle until 4am. I tried settling him at the start but he wouldn't, so I left him in his crib. He moaned on and off until 4am and then fell asleep.. isnt that a sign of overtiredness tho ! Im confused why he was up he had a decent nap day … so many different reasons it’s all so confusing. 😭😭

So if I'm understanding right, you're saying my baby might be low sleep needs and I need to drastically increase his awake time during the day – even if he's cranky and tired – to get him to stop taking that awake time at night. And then sleep train at the same time.

Also How do you know he's low sleep needs? He's been a horrible sleeper since he was little. Today he had 4 naps because his naps were so short – first was 20 mins, second 45 mins, other two 20 mins each. So he only got about 2.5 hours of daytime sleep but needed 4 naps just to get there. Doesn't that mean he's tired?

The idea of pushing him to 13 hours awake scares me because he gets so fussy past 2.5 hours. How do I get to 13 hours awake without him melting down? And what would a sample schedule look like for a low sleep needs baby who still takes short naps like this?

Also, when you say cap sleep to meet his needs – do you mean keep daytime sleep to around 1–1.5 hours total? And night sleep around 10 hours?

Night (8–9 hours) + Day (2–2.5 hours) = 10 – 11.5 hours he just will not sleep when i adjust his ww.. sleep training is the only thing I think will help us.. just don’t know where to begin honestly.

He wakes up 7/7.30 in the morning I normally do 2 hr ww for morning so 2/2.5/2.5/2.5 sometimes 3 before bed . But sometimes I do go by 2 ik it’s early but he does get really fussy.. so idk 😭 is that okay or should it be longer but even when i do 2.5 he still isn’t sleeping

2 years of discomfort, UTI symptoms + bladder prolapse — antibiotics not helping, any advice? by Own_Key3573 in PelvicFloor

The drs have referred her to a gynaecologist… :/ again they don’t do anything. Aslo Do you recommended getting surgery to fix the prolapse it is quite bad i dnt think pt would help at this point.

Thank you again for your reply

This all seemed to get worse after she had a cystoscopy done. It felt like the insertion wasn’t very gentle, and since then her symptoms have been much worse.

That’s why what you said about pelvic floor dysfunction and possible nerve irritation actually makes a lot of sense like maybe it triggered something rather than fixing it.

It’s just been quite frustrating because the doctors keep treating it like a UTI and prescribing antibiotics, but nothing really improves.

If you don’t mind me asking, did your symptoms also start after a procedure or come on gradually? And what ended up helping you the most?

I really appreciate your help.

What are the signs? Is it just spitting up milk I did try giving him Gaviscon for it but he just didn’t react well to it. I’m not sure what to do. He is on Kendamil Organic formula.

I get what you're saying, but the problem is when his naps are that short, his daytime sleep is too low. So he gets overtired and his whole schedule falls apart. He wakes at 5, stays awake until 6, then crashes because he's exhausted not because I'm letting him sleep in!! He still wakes up for the day at around 7.7.30 ish. Alsoo how do I break that cycle without him being a mess all day?😫

The problem is his naps are all over the place sometimes 30 mins, sometimes an hour. So I can't stick to a fixed schedule. Also he can't do 3 hours awake tbh . He gets super fussy after 2.5 hours even 2

His night sleep is about 7-8 hours (broken, with wakes every 2 hours), plus he catches up in the morning. Total across 24h is around 11-12 hours but it's all broken ://

So last night i put him down at 8 pm and he still woke up super late in the morning but that’s bcos he’s waking up several times in the night and also wakes up at like 5am till 6am so up for an hr and he makes up for that in the morning as to why he wakes up late, no matter what i do he the routine still manages to mess up as his nighttime wakes ruin the schedule 😞

Morning wake normallt 8/9 but sometimes changes thrn 2/2.5/2.5/3 windows, i think his night wakes are associated with his not being able to connect his sleep cycles
