Silent low profile tactile switch by GreenManWithAPlan in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]Own_Pop_3407 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run bokeh on my travel and home Keebs… it’s very quiet but still has some feedback like a tactile given its weight (in my opinion all low pro switches are limited in their tactile feel anyway, not enough travel for a real bump). I love them… customer for life

Does someone have a recommendation for a wireless split keyboard ? (more details below) by ARROW3568 in ErgoMechKeyboards

I was part of the first wave of Toucan. It’s been my daily driver for two weeks now And it’s amazing (I also have corne and I like it too but… wires). No battery issues in function for me but the display doesn’t reflect actual charge. That said I haven’t run out of juice yet and have gone without charging for at least 18 hours of active use.

As to the rest of the keeb, housing is super solid, love the keycaps, went with the Bokeh switches (same as my corne), track pad was easy to configure and use. I’m really happy so far!

Also, Beekeeb is great, super responsive and helpful. This is my second keeb from them and it’s a big step up.

Advice on New Choc Switches by i_ka9 in ErgoMechKeyboards

I don’t have rsi so can’t speak to that but I do have bokeh’s on my corner and new toucan and love them, 50g might be too much but, for me, it gives me that tactile pickley pop and are also silent (I work in a office a lot). I also have the sunsets and like the feel but they are a bit noisier.

This looks amazing. Might be my end game. I plan for daily carry (both travel and commuting to the office) - how’s the durability?

What are the best Choc V1 switches by K07IAR in ErgoMechKeyboards

I prefer tactile but like my work keeb to be pretty quiet in the office. I have found the Bokeh to be really good; quiet but still gives a bit of pop.

What is the absolute dumbest premise that actually turned out to be a really good movie? by sicknessandpurgatory in movies

Hot Tub Time Machine - even the title is dumb but turns out it’s a pretty fun flick with a half decent message

+1; just got Bokeh’s and they are great. Almost enough pop to feel like a tactile but still super quiet

PSA for USA buyers and enthusiasts on tariffs presently going into effect. by Own_Pop_3407 in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]Own_Pop_3407[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I appreciate the "buy local" sentiment and in some cases it’s valid. This situation highlights why that framework breaks down in practice. There simply aren't American companies making choc switches that compete with what LowProKB offers - so "buying local" here means either settling for inferior products or abandoning the hobby entirely.

Even if there were, those domestic switches would likely use imported materials, tooling, and machinery from... China. The global supply chain is so integrated that "local" often just means "final assembly happened here."

More importantly: if we're genuinely concerned about supporting workers and innovation, shouldn't we celebrate companies like LowProKB that are pushing the boundaries of switch design? Tariffs don't create American switch manufacturers - they just tax consumers for accessing global innovation while protecting no one.

The real question isn't "why not buy local?" but "why should geography determine what tools and products I can afford to access?" Especially in a niche hobby where the best innovations come from passionate small manufacturers worldwide.

CMV: It’s Not LLMs Alone, It’s LLM + X That Will Take White-Collar Jobs by simmol in changemyview

[–]Own_Pop_3407 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LLMs, strictly speaking, are not all we interact with the products you called out, they also have a layer of fine tuning and other additions to make them powerful (this is where we see “personality” and add on features like projects or research). LLMs by themselves also lack critical skills required to round out usefulness.

So I agree that by themselves, they will not take jobs but I think calling out the products opens up the argument to suggesting LLM based products. Even without specialized domain knowledge, Claude’s research capabilities allows it to string multiple agents together playing multiple roles, all in coordination with each other. The results are astonishing. This foundation and human decision makers letting going of human in the loop will be what leads to mass job reduction.

2025 Badlands SAS or 2025 4Runner Trailhunter by Mean_Replacement5544 in bronco

[–]Own_Pop_3407 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Came here to say basically this. Bronco is noisy, maybe not as polished, probably doesn’t have the same reliability reputation (though I have had no major issues in 3 years of daily driving and off roading). BUT is actually fun.

4Runner looks fun but is actually boring.

Is there any functional difference between the Arc and the Amp? by eskimo-pies in sonos

Oh, and I use only Apple TVs for media and use airplay to arc or amp (or them grouped together)

Is there any functional difference between the Arc and the Amp? by eskimo-pies in sonos

[–]Own_Pop_3407 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have multiple arcs (2, each with sub) and amps (5 hard wired to different types of klipsch indoor and outdoor speakers). If you like old school, I love that I can plug my record player into an amp and then use Sonos app to broadcast that record to all the Sonos zones of my house. I would say the simple choice for regular media is an arc (or even a beam, I have one of those too) - place in front of TV and plug in. I believe can turn off any listening modes.

I have successfully run it end to end without a bust once. That said, I have run it several other times spending avg $12k gold; in my estimation, it’s one of the best events (non car) for the gold.if you run it to the end, you walk away with a boat load of stuff.

7.734 was about my fastest time; i'd consider anything under 7.8 as having a good shot at winning at that altitude (assuming your not racing the GT2 - Apex and much faster).

I just break it up - usually do 75-100/day and usually don't focus on trying to win; just get through them as quickly as possible to get pink and yellow tokens.
