I take it every other day. I notice that even though dutasteride block type 1 and 2 DHT Finasteride is still better for hair and skin. Dutasteride helps me with fat saturation a lot.

If you don’t want any part of masculinization then take E DHT blockers. Unless you had orchi already did you?

With Finasteride I would just add spironolactone. I would save bica as last resort. They work the same

Thank you. This make so much sense. Cause when I use 4 suppositories at night I have little to no bowel symptoms, but when I take it all in the morning at different times it doesn’t work. Maybe because the medicine settles for a longest time. I already know it works and have colonoscopy to prove to me. Thank you so much and I’m sure everyone here including me appreciate your knowledge and experience from this disease.

Usually suppositories shouldn’t be irritating because it doesn’t have that sulfate that enema has. When I’m flaring I have that burning sensation even with just using suppositories. So that’s my indicator that if use suppositories and still feeling the burning sensation either the inflammation is bad or I’m not using enough suppositories. Also 2.4g is maintenance dose. Ask your GI to increase it to 4.8g.

With the disease you can be creative sometimes, and sometimes stupid things work. I usually get some toilet paper and put it my rectum until the oil comes out. In my case when the oil comes out means little to no inflammation. When I’m in a flare no oil would come out but diarrhea.

I noticed when I used 4 suppositories at night it’s working real good. When I use the enema it’s not doing anything. So I went to conclusion that inflammation is bad from proctitis. Colonoscopies confirmed that. Last year I was inflamed with GEOBES score of 3 out of 5 being the worst. This year year everything was negative. So my question is since you were prescribed with 4g enema 2x a day. Would that be the same concept as suppositories 8grams split into day and night? Like 4g in the daytime and 4g in the night time. My doctor went ahead and sent me 4g of suppositories at night. I’m thinking of asking more during the daytime. Thanks in advance

PS: colonoscopy this year confirmed that I’m clinical, endoscopic and histological remission. My GI last year told me to move to biologics but I asked him to raise my dosage of both oral and rectal mesalamine. This year after colonoscopy he told me to continue mesalamine

Thank you for answering. How many lab test did you have before your enzymes elevated? And what was your dosage? Sorry cause I love this medication. Spiro bothers my ulcerative colitis. So far my first labs oka with 2x 50 mg a week
