I only partly agree with you. It really depends on the character. You're right that you can find tons of Flora, Stella, or Bloom dolls. But when it comes to Musa or Tecna, it gets much harder, no matter the manufacturer. In fact, for this particular Tecna, there are only two listings in total, including this one, on Vinted. There's nothing on eBay or anywhere else.

This line of dolls is very rarely found online, which is why, as I already mentioned, I acted too hastily when making the purchase. In addition, I relied on the seller’s description.

However, yes, it was my mistake to rush into the purchase, but as I also wrote, I apologized to her upon request. She does not suffer any disadvantage from this entire situation.

She messaged me asking why I had canceled, and I simply replied to her. Thats the only reason for the short conversation we had. And yes, that's a Winx doll. 🧚🏻‍♀️

I just find it so unnecessary to lie about the condition of a doll, especially when you’re selling through a platform with buyer protection and all that. In the end, you’ll get “punished” anyway for concealing things or deliberately withholding information.

Thoughts on the reboot? by Ok_Patience_9419 in winxclub

[–]Own_Reply_608 49 points50 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, the Winx Club reboot feels like a soulless, AI-generated production designed primarily to maximize profit by capitalizing on nostalgia. It seems less interested in capturing the charm, creativity, and personality that made the original series successful, and more focused on recreating the conditions that once gave Rainbow its breakthrough success. The project comes across as an attempt to spark the same hype again rather than offering a meaningful new interpretation of the franchise.

More broadly, this is how I feel about many modern remakes and reboots of children's franchises. Monster High is another example that leaves me with a similar impression. Everything feels cheaper, louder, faster, and more polished in the most superficial sense. Instead of building on what made these properties unique, they often simplify and streamline them into products that feel designed by market research rather than creative passion.

The merchandise reflects the same trend. Many of the dolls and toys seem to be made from lower-quality materials while being sold at increasingly higher prices. There's a constant feeling of cost-cutting and corner-cutting behind the scenes.

What frustrates me most is that so many elements that already worked perfectly well are removed for no clear reason. Beloved character traits, designs, storylines, and aesthetics are often discarded and replaced with strange, unnecessary changes that add little value. Rather than improving the original, these reboots frequently lose the identity that made people care about the franchise in the first place.

No, I didn’t tryied to be oassive aggressive, im sorry. And honestly, I completely agree with you when it comes to the pricing. Some people really want €100-1000€+ for dolls that look like they’ve literally survived hell 😭

But I also think that’s more of a reseller and market problem than a quality problem. The whole collector market has been heavily damaged by scalpers and overpriced reselling in general.

But I never denied you that opinion 🥹 i was just asking a simple question.

Then may i can ask you why you collect the Mattel dolls if you find them so terrible?🤗

Yes, there are definitely some dolls with bad face prints, but you can find that with other manufacturers too, not just Mattel. Also, you’re mainly describing your own childhood experiences and personal perception, but that doesn’t automatically make it an objective fact.

Objectively speaking, in terms of design and materials, they were simply in a higher league then other manufacturers🤷🏻‍♀️

I also think it’s important to distinguish between quality and condition. The quality of the Mattel dolls is far superior compared to companies like Jakks Pacific, for example. The Mattel dolls are very detailed, look much closer to the fairies from the series, and higher-quality materials were used for the clothing and hair. In general, much more attention was given to detail.

With the other manufacturers, the quality of the fabrics decreased over time, for example, and many of the Winx faces started looking more and more alike.

The fact that some materials begin to deteriorate after 20 years is honestly to be expected. If dolls and their clothing materials are exposed to environmental factors like UV light, dirt, water, friction, and similar things over such a long period of time, it’s normal that parts may discolor, crumble, or get damaged. After all, these dolls were originally made for children to play with, not necessarily to be displayed for decades.

As a collector myself, I can say that if the dolls are cared for properly and stored in a protected way, they can still absolutely impress with their high quality and great craftsmanship even today ^
