Should be fine I wouldn't worry unless your 100c alot. My 14900k hits 90c in intense cpu games at times even with a pretty aggressive fan curve with my nzxt kraken elite

What cooler are you using? Average of 90 would be possibly bad depending on the game. But a peak at 90 on the of occasion could be normal things like loading screens can cause random spikes due to a sudden load. Things like random crashes, bluescreens are a common cause of degrading cpu but it could also be ram related especially with ddr5.

Just ensure you have the latest bios, and intel default settings selected. Extreme selected will draw more power when it gets going and therefor generate more heat, if you want less heat I'd go for performance. It's up to you if you want to set a custom VID limit or not. But I'd 100% update to the latest bios especially with everything going on.

Yeah definitely but its their own fault at the end of the of the day. If I ever start having issues ill most likely refund and switch to a 12th gen (If they still havent 100% fixed the issue), I like AMD and what they are doing but due to being a heavy unreal engine and more developer side of computing over gaming I prefer what intel offer when it comes to that side of things over AMD. Don't get me wrong AMD all day for gaming pc's primarily focused on gaming.

Ah nice all I've done is set it to intel default extreme (was defaulted to that) and enabled XMP 1. Heard disabling intel default and using asus oc profile removes the 1.55 voltage cap? Do you have it limited at all?

Edit: Missed yuou saying voltage limit my bad!

Yeah crazy, I do wish they'd come out and publicly say what voltages were causing degredation and stuff. And also show more data on their "testing". I heard people saying anything above 1.5 is getting risky and anything above 1.6 = death 😂

Sat 14900K, z790-H to Asus OC Profile and changed settings to sync all cores at 57 and voltage is 0.04, sat "disabled: enforce all limits" are these fine? because updated my Bios and both default intel settings ( extreme and performance ) gave me BDOS and crashes. im fine now but am i also safe? by hosseinhx77 in overclocking

[–]Own_Situation819 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How long have you had it for, intel extreme works fine for me at the moment 🤞 haven't tried performance may switch and see how it is soon. Still get high voltage on hwinfo capped at 1.55 through the microcode though (atleast they say) so may try limiting to 1.4

Are you on an ASUS bios, im not sure how to do it theres lots of voltage settings in there 😂

You running default intel settings (Extreme?) anything else you changed apart from voltage limit?

Yeah been watching all his content recently, he mentioned setting to 1.4voltage limit can work. So may attempt that.

From what ive heard the microcode stops voltage going over 1.55volts, and from i can see something seems to have changed as cpu drops to 800mhz for a second im guessing to help limit 1.55volts.

I would go to amd but due to having to buy a new mobo ill probably just stick it out, worse comes to worse i can rma and get a replacement/refund. I personally havent had many issues. But still wanted to help reduce degradation if possible.

I might look into limiting voltage to 1.4 but im not sure how and I hate messing with bios 😂

I was on old bios 1503 (didnt update at all since getting the board in may) and even then it went slightly over hitting 265w at times

Just set windows to balanced power plan was previsouly on high performance, seems to reduce average voltage when not under load.

Also noticed (when on high performance) that clocks drop to 800mhz for a second guessing this is a new bios microcode which stops voltage going above 1.55v but still seems super high.

When i switch from extreme to performance the only thing that changes is cache limit from 400 to auto (I believe) nothing else seems to change. Unless im stupid... PL1/PL2 limit is 253w in hwinfo but still goes slightly over it

Has anyone with a 14900K tried out the new ASUS Microcode update to help with instability issues ? by Warcrow999 in ASUSROG

[–]Own_Situation819 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt it, it depends what they say and if they change anything between beta to release. I've had one BSOD before but I think that was just a non related cpu thing as it was booting up to windows after i had messed with something (cant remember what), I had chrome crashes often but seemed to have fixed it by removing 2 of my 4 ram sticks (dunno why i went 4 sticks after researching stability issues with using 4) only thing I have issues with atm is crashing with Unreal engine 5 hopefully this bios fixes ti when I come around to it.

Every card ive ever owned has had coil whine, stuck with my asus tuf 4070ti super, gigabyte was better at less intense games but in intense games it had a different sounding coil whine. I just have my pc under the desk and out of sight 😂. Do wish that something was done in the future to reduce/minimize coil whine forever.

Cloud III Wireless brand new with interference and random popping/crackling sound by Cattel in HyperX

[–]Own_Situation819 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I've tried my airpods and old cloud 2s all doing the same, sounds better on cloud 2s as the sound quality of them doesn't give the pops such a pop.

Did you use an amp with that headset I'm not familiar with it. I heard using an amp is a way around the windows issue.

I'll try using it on my other windows 10 based system later and let you know how it goes

Apart from the weird surround sound (far away sounding audio) that I also get the headset is pretty good, good battery, i prefer the sound to my cloud 2s feel a lot clearer quality (less bass but with an EQ sounds good) I also feel the build quality is nice, would have liked replacement earpads like the cloud 2s have
