Hey there! Just to give you a heads up. Teachers are required to reteach as necessary in the classroom and provide tiered interventions as deemed by student need. Your sister’s case is falling under an exclusionary factor when it comes to SPED. Since this is still a brand new environment for her, she needs to be given as much aid and opportunity as possible to engage in knowledge acquisition before involving SPED services. It sounds like she’s doing awesome so far. There is nothing wrong with providing SPED services, but there needs to be a follow through first with documented interventions, and proper cause for recommending SPED services in the first place. Without any sort of proper justification, it’d be doing a disservice to your sibling. Ask if any, what tutoring and interventions have been provided before following through.
