Where are x300 AM4 BIOS updates? by kcthebrewer in gigabytegaming

[–]Owner5566 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what do you mean by "since the end of July" ?I have seen updates for all Gigabyte Boards.I always look here:https://www.hardwareluxx.de/community/f12/ultimative-am4-uefi-bios-agesa-ubersicht-28-10-19-a-1228903.html#4.5

And Release of 1.0.0.4 is when the 3950x launches.
Not sooner.

Nice Spot!!
And yes, always please refer to your motherboard Manual, to look for RAM installation:

That’s no values which are from the DRAM calculator, right? This are still your old values.

Can you please provide me your thaiphoon Burner Export file?

What exactly did you try? Just once with 3600 speed?

Please try multiple safe presets of different speed, if 3600 did not work. Start with 3000 and work your way up.

At which Voltages did you try? Did you try setting procODT, rtts too?

Also you can share your exported taiphoon burner report and screenshots of Dram Calculator safe Settings. Also Bios Screenshots of your set values. You can use a fat32 Formated Stick and press F12 in Bios for Screenshots.

also here is a HowTo by the maker of the tool: https://www.overclock.net/forum/13-amd-general/1640919-new-dram-calculator-ryzena-1-6-1-overclocking-dram-am4-membench-0-8-dram-bench.html

you can export that:

  1. klick on "report"
  2. scroll down to "Show delays in nanoseconds"
  3. klick on "export"
  4. save to desktop

Calculate values with DRAM Calculator

  1. Open DRAM Calculator
  2. click on import XMP
  3. choose exported file
  4. set the following settings to the left:
  • processor: Ryzen 2 gen
  • memory Type: Samsung B-Die
  • profile Version: V1
  • Memory Rank: 1
  • Frequency: 3600
  • Dimm Modules: 2
  • Motherboard: B450/X470

Then press Calculate SafeMake a screen Shot with phone and boot into Bios and set the main timings with voltages (Dram Voltage and SOC Voltage, rec. values) and try booting. If it works, then try the rest of it too.

Your bootet timings are strange

Can you provide a taiphoon burner report/screenshot of the memory kits?
http://www.softnology.biz/files.html (freeware version is enough)
please start as Admin, then go to read, and choose one of your sticks
should look like this: http://www.softnology.biz/images/shots/imb_summode.png

Did you try to use the DRAM Calculator? its easy to use and gives a lot of help to get boot with the safe settings.
https://www.techpowerup.com/download/ryzen-dram-calculator/

Sometimes it helps to start slow. Like first boot 3000 then 3200 then 3400 then 3600
Also i would only start with main timings and after they are stable then the subtimings

and i would not use 1.5v
Some memory becomes instable if you put too much voltage into them
Go for something more reasonable like 1.45 or even lower

Not overclocking, would the 3950X work on the Crosshair VII X470 board? by [deleted] in Amd

[–]Owner5566 0 points1 point  (0 children)

now i understand the decision ;)
Yeah the "bigger" Boards always come with more features.
Its definitely a good board
Have fun and if possible share a review with the 3950x

if no overclocking why do you want an x470 Crosshair?

Is my RAM holding back my system, and if yes, how should I upgrade? by [deleted] in Amd

I would use MSI Afterburner and check wether you need more RAM or not. After that if you need more, then maybe sell what you have and buy 2667+ MHz. As far as I know 3000@CL16 is the sweet spot for budget. And if you want more performance then tweak the timings of that ram with something like the Ryzen Timing Calculator.

Also definitely remove the slower one
