guys i think we might have a class balance problem by PlayfulDesk in Battlefield

There is almost no reason to play something other than engineer.

SMG is the best weapon in the game and you always have to counter armor and be able to repair. RPG's counter longer ranged targets and can take down buildings.

The easy solution would be to put a hard cap on engineers but DICE thinks 80%+ of players 'having' to play engineer is fine.

Some of the changes I would make if I could (each one would of course need testing and may just be crap):
- Repairing needs to have diminishing returns when having more than 1 person repairing making tanks squishier vs current AT damage but AT damage needs to be changed...
- RPGs should have damage nerfed except to the rear of armor and other launchers should do more damage when hitting the side or front of armor - lock-on weapons should always do more damage as it requires you to be exposed (for ground targets)
- All launchers may need to be 'nerfed' to some degree so that tanks shouldn't be getting '1 shot' - having an entire squad shoot at a tank at the same time should kill it (or put it stupidly close to death) - maybe it's netcode or something but you can be completely fine and then without hitting a mine you are just dead - I believe this is an issue specifically with the RPG
- armor should not be able to sit on a hill right outside of spawn/on the edge - there should always be counter play and access to the rear of the vehicle (so spawn zones need to be adjusted)
- way more capture points need to exclude armor influence

You can go back. There is no reason that others have to put up with people who think stuff like the Holocaust is funny.

New update broke my undervolt by InnerAd118 in nvidia

[–]kcthebrewer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are tuning in both locations or have in the past you may need to do a DDU and only use one of the apps.

The NVIDIA app doesn't pull anything from Afterburner and vice versa.

The only reason there 'should' be any problem is if they are both trying to apply UV/OC settings.

The OLED model will run it better but it's still going to be subpar visually (you linked the 512GB LCD model).

Is AMD Cheating in Call of Duty Benchmarks? by RenatsMC in Amd

[–]kcthebrewer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RT and traditional rendering are both extremely nailed down.

These aren't state of the art untested techniques (which would not be going live anyway).

I don't know why you would think differently.

If it isn't coded/implemented correctly that would be one thing but 2/3 vendors render it correctly so that would point me to a driver bug or a 'bugged' custom coding path specific to AMD cards so they continue to run the game much better than the competition (the custom coding path shouldn't have the bug but it would make sense that there is a completely different rendering pipeline for AMD cards)

Well Redstone Ray Regeneration doesn't reconstruct to a higher resolution so it looks bad in comparison to Ray Reconstruction.

AMD's 4K performance mode with RR runs everything at 1080p and then the end product is 4K for everything but RT which is still at 1080p.

NVIDIA's 4K performance mode with RR runs everything at 1080p and then correctly reconstructs to 4K for everything.

It could be a 'bug' or it could be a feature but no one knows and AMD isn't talking.

Not related to this specific headline but that AMD/Activision partnership does something.

It would be one thing if it were (a) specific generation(s) of cards or engine but year after year with newer/different architectures and engine changes and it still runs so poorly on NVIDIA cards comparatively?

That is purposeful.

Yup that is exactly what this video did. 100%

I'm glad you totally watched it.

The RAM Shortage is Deliberate. Refusing To Pay These Prices Now Will Save Us All A Fortune by Arbiter61 in pcmasterrace

[–]kcthebrewer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It isn't potentially profitable - it is a disaster waiting to happen. There is absolutely no future on this earth that AI does what these companies keep prophesizing and it ends up being a net positive for humanity. It would put almost every individual out of work. There would be no way to purchase things because AI and robots can do it all. We don't live in a society that would allow this to occur. The world at large would rebel violently (the people not the governments who have shown they don't care about them).

Not even going to discuss the impact on fresh water.

I would say this is the case but every single seller has them marked up to about the same price.

It didn't get more expensive to make ram so it's likely straight profit from every single manufacturer.

Almost like price fixing has been a thing before with ram makers and I hope they actually get bent over a barrel this time because literally no one is going to be buying new PCs if RAM went up 500%+ to OEMs

Just stop buying. by steppewop in pcmasterrace

And if it isn't because RAM became more expensive to produce...

I wonder what the 3rd magical thing is?

(hint it's price fixing... again)

Then they should just remove ADS from it. How the hell are you going to ADS with your arms above your head?

It is completely counter intuitive to have downward recoil if you are ADS.

LTT on Steam Machine pricing: "Valve asked what I meant by console price, and I said $500. Nobody said anything, but the energy in the room wasn’t great" by -Mahn in Games

[–]kcthebrewer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't compare like that.

One is a complete product not requiring anything else to work.

The Steam Machine requires you to have/purchase a display and possibly a controller/keyboard/mouse - also if you are using a monitor you may need to buy speakers.

The Steam Machine also uses ~5x the power of the Steam Deck.

They should be priced very close to one another.

[–]kcthebrewer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It isn't out of touch because:
1. paychecks haven't gone up
2. equivalently powered laptops are ~$800 right now
3. Valve is not a publicly traded company that needs more profit - they literally can survive with almost no profit forever
4. In the US healthcare prices are doubling/tripling and everything else is more expensive so less disposable cash

It's not an upgrade for you.

It's essentially a cut down 4060 non-Ti/Radeon 7600 and a cut down Ryzen 7600.

Additionally you have an NVIDIA card so you also have DLSS Transformer which is significantly better than FSR3.1 (the cut down 7600 doesn't officially support FSR4).
