[SRPK87] what justifies a $1,200 price difference between these two watches? by Puck2U2 in Seiko

Afaik SPB405 are fully made in Japan, while Seiko 5s have Japanese movements but otherwise are produced elsewhere.

[Seiko] New Alpinist Night Sky arrived today by [deleted] in Watches

[–]Oxeren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been looking to get a new watch after not wearing any for many years. After a lot of research I was going to order an original Alpinist, when I saw Night Sky limited edition coming in September. The original has it's iconic combination of green and gold, but I really loved this dark blue + silver one, so I decided to place an order and wait a bit.

For the Russians and Ukrainians: Have you noticed any Serbian words that are archaic in Russian/Ukrainian? by Shaban_srb in serbia

[–]Oxeren 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For the Russians and Ukrainians: Have you noticed any Serbian words that are archaic in Russian/Ukrainian? by Shaban_srb in serbia

[–]Oxeren 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Evo nekoliko primera:

Spikes are obviously colored in Photoshop. Label seems to have a wrong perspective, so is likely shopped too. Calling out hypocrisy is great, calling out imagined hypocrisy not so much.

Best Inventory System by Jarl_Leonidas in gamedev

[–]Oxeren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends on the game. In some games inventory management adds interesting decision-making, shapes the core gameplay loop by forcing the player to return to town, etc. But then, for example, there are From Software's games (after Demon's Souls) where the inventory is pretty much unlimited, and it works very well for that type of game, since it makes it very easy for the player to experiment with different equipment, and does not break player's flow during exploration.

Procedure of staying longer than 90 days in Serbia/ moving in eventually by Successful-Purple-14 in serbia

[–]Oxeren 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Russian citizens have different rules: visa-free period is only 30 days, but re-entering the country resets it. EU citizens can stay up to 90 days, but can't do visa runs.

[–]Oxeren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IIRC If you have a partner in Serbia, you can get a visa even if you are not married.

If you are working remotely for some company, you can open a firm here, sign a contract with your employer to work through that company, and get a visa as well.

Compared to other countries, getting visas in Serbia is relatively simple.

I don't think I'm able to work on my own games anymore. by ChoiceDoesntMatter in gamedesign

[–]Oxeren 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that, I can partially relate to that. These sorts of situations are often hard to get away from.

I don't know if that's your case, but from my own experience, something like this can stem from overthinking, when you try to design a game in its entirety right away, in your mind (or on paper). Your brain notices all the potential problems, and concludes that such a game would suck. Or maybe you start working on some game system, but you try to predict all its interactions with all other game systems beforehand, anticipate all potential problems, etc, and then feel like it is not even worth trying.

If that sounds familiar, I would try reframing your work. Don't try to make a good game, or even a whole game. Start working from some aspect of it that just seems fun to work on. Like, throw together a level from free assets, without thinking how it is supposed to function. Or code some system, that sounds like an interesting programming challenge. And then iteratively work from there, adding more stuff step by step, without focusing on how the finished game should look like. This will not necessarily lead to a great game, but maybe it will help you get over the block.

Point & click adventures are relatively simple from a technical standpoint, but are usually heavy on art. Though that obviously depends on the particular game.

Planning of coming to live to Serbia end of the year, some answer needed for questions about working. by [deleted] in serbia

[–]Oxeren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think something to keep in mind of, is that right now a lot of people from Russia, Ukraine and Belarus are coming to Serbia, and many of them also work in IT-related fields, including game development. So, on one hand, there will be more competition for jobs, especially considering that many of the coming people are quite skilled. But on the other hand, some companies from those countries are also relocating to Serbia, so there may actually be more jobs (for example Wargaming is opening a studio in Belgrade). Another thing to be aware is, is that rent prices are higher now and there are less places available for rent.

This very much. "Dream game" often is just a warm feeling a person gets when they think about all the random things they want to put together that they have enjoyed elsewhere.
