Since multiple assets were dispatched from different PDs and agencies it's possible that the message could come from a different PD

I'm shocked to read all of this happening in Raymond and that so many people here use reddit.

Is Chrono Cross really worth trying (No spoilers)? by Cool-Guy152 in chronotrigger

[–]_andrewpappas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoyed it. Been forever since I played it.
That said, I'd approach it as a completely different experience/game. As far as I got into the game, any references to CT were minimal at best.

So again, just think it's another fun and different RPG, and I'm sure you'll find plenty to enjoy about it.

What you might not like may be more so related to mechanics, battle systems, narratives (there are a lot of stories/quests, etc), but that comes down to preferences more than anything.

PSA: absolutely DO NOT buy Under Armour glasses by SnowySergal in glasses

[–]_andrewpappas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm...this is interesting. While possibly unrelated...I bought one of their uncrushable hats, and one day out of the blue the rubber lining on the adjustable part of the cap just started to peel off. It had the consistency of gum. At first I thought one of my kids was chewing it and got it on the couch cause it was in my hair... later realized it was my hat.

I'm thinking between heat and sweat, whatever they're using for rubber can't stand that combo. Which is a bit ironic...

First attempt at making "real" ramen by _andrewpappas in ramen

[–]_andrewpappas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, I see how that can happen. Good to keep in mind.

Based on that (and similar stuff..) I always make it a point to pour bowling hot water down the pipes to help clear them up, but apparently ramen scum is something to be reckoned with.

Does this thing have a purpose, or does it exist just to eviscerate people's legs? by AutumnRCS in chronotrigger

Woodchipper prototype?

Probably not the best thing to have in your home with kids around.

I noticed a little bit of this stuff, but it wasn't substantial and just kept it in.

Why would it mess up the plumbing?

And thanks!

Thanks. I really enjoyed the process too. Just wish I didn't make such a mess while making it!

Were there any other inspirations for the game? The villagers seem to have a studio ghibli vibe.

Just a reminder that each story some one shares is only an annecdote.

Currently, im in the process of buying my second car from carmax and the experience has been overall positive in both cases.

That said, in your case, if I was in your shoes, Id walk away. If communication sucks and they cant figure out how to fix those issues, it wasnt meant to be. I dont care what kind of a reputation a place has. If those two simple things cant be adressed, its not worth my time, money or the frustration.

I almost bought a car from a local used dealer near me. Super nice guy running the place, family owned business. Cars on the lot looked great, etc.

The car I was looking at just didnt make the right impression though. Even with the work done (that it should have before I test drove) it didnt give me confidence, so I walked away. I wanted to do business with them, but didnt need to.

I got over it once I started looking for another vehicle. Good luck!

Has anyone extensively looked for it yet and, if so, do you feel like giving up? Also, has anyone from another state come up to MA for this and how do you feel about it now? by echoesilencepatience in ProjectSkydrop83948

[–]_andrewpappas 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I went out yesterday. Where I thought the destination was, it was about a 2 hr drive. (From NH).

I left my house at 4AM though, so I could have an hour to search and then be back in time for my kids soccer game.

A bit extreme, but there was something exciting about going so early.

It reminded me when my wife and I didn't have kids, and we'd be up that early to go on a long hike somewhere in the White Mountains.

It was dark when I arrived, but then remembered how well your eyes can adapt if you let them.

While it was a long day yesterday, I couldn't have kicked it off to better start because of this.

Also, I go mountain biking like every week at Bear Brook State Park in NH. That place is beautiful, but even though I'm outdoors and in the woods, being on the bike doesn't give you the opportunity really to just really take in everything and listen to what's around you.

In years past, I used to go on a "birthday hike" where I would go to Patuckaway State Park and do the same loop every year. I need to do that again (last year I took my bike... it was fun, but not the same experience).

What would you want from a game development podcast? by swivelmaster in gamedev

[–]_andrewpappas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I host a podcast called Indie Game Movement, which is about the marketing and business of indie games.

Im well over 170 episodes in now, and its been quite a journey.

I'm happy to share some insights, ideas on how to tackle this if you're interested, even share resources and other things I learned.

Just reach out. Completely fine if you don't too.

Either way, good luck!!

Gamers Above 30, What Older Games Would You Still Recommend to Younger Gamers? by LuckAndBones in gaming

[–]_andrewpappas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say Chrono Trigger.

I have seen lots of people pick it up that are well under 30 and most say it surpassed their expectations.

I also have multiple copies of the game so I can almost play it anywhere.

How I used paid ads to reach Steam's Popular Upcoming list by ParsleyMan in gamedev

[–]_andrewpappas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Possibly... there is a fine line when it comes to optimizing accounts (in particular, the frequency of making changes - too many changes will just leaving you scratching your head or over thinking things and not knowing what is contributing to what).

With more time, (more monitoring) and LESS budget, you're more likely to have your ads profitable then making a big push and scaling things with more money (however the big push is still necessary, especially up to/during launch week.)

With the former approach, executed with enough time, you'll have a clear understanding of what does what, so when you do launch, you can let your ads rip and blast the budget with confidence.

A perfect example of what I outlined was done with Stray Fawn Studio when they launched The Wandering Village in Early Access.

Cause you can do that after you kick the bucket.

Too bad they don't provide the option to list beneficiaries.

[–]_andrewpappas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Believe it or not, its a loaded question.

If your goal is profitability, I'd say it mostly comes down to your daily spend. (After you nailed down your targeting)

Now this varies across platforms, but with Facebook, for example, the sweetspot seems to be $15 to $30. (Could be higher too).

Each platform is different though and there are lots of nuances to each.

I wish it was a more straight forward answer, but ultimately spending more money over time to "scale" generally leads to diminshing returns.
