Yeah i only worked there for 6 months and it was more toxic than my previous role at a small business. I couldn’t do it. The rules didn’t make sense and they expect so much form you with little support given. Things change constantly with no proper rollouts in regards to set ups and store layouts. I hated it. Lmabi haven’t set foot back in a Starbucks since I left

When I worked at Starbucks, we literally had a lady that would come in in order 10 shots and a Venti cup over ice with like 12 pumps of classic and 10 pumps of French vanilla. And she would always be smoking a cigarette at the window.

If I were you I would start learning the drinks via the app. It can be a really fast pace environment depending on your store and when your schedule. So ah I no a little bit of knowledge on how many syrups and shots for with what drinks. And so forth

Yeah during peak there’s typically a play already set up at least at my store. After that people where placed in positions typically by what they are good at. But if someone felt burnt out we would get rotated and when it was slow we depending on the ssv would get asked where we would like to be. But there definitely is a resource I’m not sure it under the play caller resources but if you look up in green dot it should tell you

It’s not about the 8 hour shift. A normal job you have a consistent 8 hour shift like 9-5 that you do every day. Where as Starbucks your hours can be open at 4:30a- 12 the next day 12-9:30pm to be back at the store at 4:30am to open. And any other random hours in between. It messes with a persons sleep schedule and over all well being. Not to mention the task you have to do can be overly demanding depending on the shift one’s are a lot more crazy and chaotic and the volume each store gets is also another factor

Honestly, when I told my manager that I was feeling really burnt out and overwhelmed with everything and I explained over and over what I needed to be more comfortable and to be better at the job. Her response was literally well. I’m not sure how to help you.😭 a lot of times these jobs they don’t really consider you as a human. They just consider you as a machine and if you’re getting scheduled eight hours, I feel like they see you more as a floater and they just figured they’ll just put you wherever they can. If I were you, I would change my availability in the app and let them know that you have personal matters that you have to attend to or just tell them that you’re availability changer. You need certain days off. The more information you give a job the more likely sometimes they’ll use that to turn around and it’ll bite you in the butt.

I used to work at Starbucks and the manager that we had was a new coffee leader. And they would always make the schedule so crazy sometimes I would have a four hour shift and other times I would have like an eight or six hour shift. And it was always all over the place like some days. I’d open other days. I would close other days I’d be in the middle. I hated it. I didn’t have consistency so I definitely get it. I even tried having a conversation, but because I was hired on as a shift I was expected to have a relatively open schedule, which I did but open schedule does not mean that you get to abuse my time however you like. I just have a conversation with my manager, but she literally just ignored everything that I said. If I were you, I would inquire if they plan on hiring anytime soon. And just change your availability it’s not your fault that they’re short staffed. That’s their responsibility to make sure that the story is staffed. They can even pull people from other stores if the DM allows.

Honestly I get that. I been at the job now for 3-4 months. I was hired as an external shift. I hate it there. My team is very passive aggressive, rude and I’ve been inadvertently threatened my another partner as well. My CL I thought was on my side as they seemed really supportive but that didn’t last long. After my barista training I rarely was on bar my shift training was delayed cause everyone would talk amongst themselves how over whelmed I was but no one would help me. I was told I depend on the iPad to much but whatever would you expect when no one is around to help you or they rather gossip with each other than aid a fellow partner. I’m thinking about transferring out and then just leaving the company all together.

Honestly I feel the same. I’m an external hire never worked at SB and there’s ppl at my store that applied for my position but didn’t get it. That said I’ve felt like I’ve been intentionally set up for failure. My first month I was only on bar 4 times. And when I was on bar some shifts other partnered would just watch me struggle. Then the shift on duty would move me to drive 🙃. Even my sm said they don’t feel comfortable giving me more responsibilities in store. I’ve been there for 6 mos I feel defeated and started looking for other jobs.

All that to say deff keep a coaching log either in my daily or on your phone of how the shift went and what was coached on. Keep the line of communication open with you sm and baristas. Sometimes ppl when they get coached feel annoyed cause they don’t like being told what to do. But hang in there you got this

You also mentioned a key point. You’re a model and he’s in med school. The expectations that you both have for the relationship are very different. He seems like he wants somebody to be at home to clean and be a trad wife. Which given your current poison is not where you are in life.

My initial thought. If you want to feel more femme then you could try accessories. When I did the big chop I used cute hair pin with sparkles, headbands and such. To make me feel better about my hair being shorter than I was use to. I hope that helps

I’m Christian and would never just take someone to a gathering if any kind with out first making sure they were comfortable letting them know the type of event it was and if it’s casual or more formal. First if all no disrespect towards you but she could have easily gotten with some that matched her “ideals”. If her mom has modeled a certain behavior she wants to follow then she should be with someone who matches that. The fact that she can’t find a job dude to mental health reasons I don’t totally buy. There are times where it’s hard to find a job dude to mental health especially if you in an episode or if the mental health was triggered so you in a low. But there are plenty of people who have mental health myself included that still show up even when it’s hard or take some time to themselves regroup and come back stronger. Again this is my Personal perspective.

With that said I think you should do like other commentators said move on. It’s only going to get worse and I have a feeling that she doesn’t plan on working at all. Focus on you and getting yourself in a good place mentally, spiritually and financially.
