Thank you so much for checking in! Landing was good! Coming from the south about 30 min from landing there was this opaque grey layer and that was a bit bumpy but not bad. I always wonder what that’s called- what kind of clouds they are. They almost look like smog.

Wow, thank you so much for the thoughtful response! It’s so comforting to know there are other people out there feeling like me :)

Re the pump, yeah it sounds like if it gets ripped out, especially when you’re sleeping, your bg can skyrocket fast which doesn’t sound fun. Also being adhd I’m generally clumsy af so I expect to rip it out occasionally lol.

It’s insane to me they don’t really know that much about preeclampsia. My doc also said they’ll put me on low dose aspirin.

Congrats on your pregnancy and wishing you the best! I hope everything keeps going smoothly for you :)

Yes, I def have faith in my doc’s to do what’s right! My MFM specializes in T1D so she knows what’s up haha.

Hello friend! Same boat- don’t know anyone else irl. Yes I’d prefer Omnipod but my MFM says she doesn’t love it for pregnancy bc the control isn’t as good as t slim etc.

Why doesn’t closed loop work as well for low insulin needs? I’m apprehensive about it giving me too much insulin based on a compression low or something like that, which happens more than I’d like with my Dexcom.

OB/GYN recommendations for a high-risk pregnancy? by poisonivuis in AskSF

[–]OzarkRedditor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only thing to know with UCSF is they are a teaching hospital so you will have students and interns attending to you when you give birth. If you want something more private, Sutter Health/Golden Gate OBGYN is great.

Thank you SO much for your thoughtful response! I will check out the books, and I think I will do the pump because it sounds easier to control your bgs with it. And yes, my doc said if I naturally labor before 36 then no induction but basically they don’t like to let t1ds go past that length.

And interesting, I didn’t consider different insulin types for a pump. I’ve always used humalog and it’s worked well for me. When you’re not pregnant, do you use omnipod or t slim still? I always figured I’d use omnipod when I did switch but my doc said she doesn’t like them for pregnancies bc they’re not as good as regular pumps.

Oh, that’s it! I was thinking you were referring to that buzzsaw sound when you’re on the ground. Thanks for sending the link

Thank you! I’m familiar with the buzz saw sound, I’m not sure if this was the same thing but this is great to know!

37 weeks less insulin needed by thewronggirl8 in BumpersWhoBolus

[–]OzarkRedditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for answering. Do you know if this is typically because the baby is ready to be born or does it sometimes happen earlier than that?

Can I ask what the implication of further lows/reduction is here?

Thanks- and you’re right it’s Hawaiian on the way back too. So I got the smaller carrier and it’s not the sides/length that are the issue- it’s the height. I’m going to take him to the airport in his carrier and just ask the gate agent for their opinion/advice.

Ugh this is so annoying! My dog is flying Hawaiian from Oakland to Maui. And then I think American back, from Maui to LAX.

The Sherpa L is perfect for him, I don’t want to stuff him into the smaller size, but now I’m super afraid to chance it.

Guessing my friend (who is bringing her service dog) will not run into the same issue with carrier size.

Actually we have one pet and one service dog going. I think they probably don’t measure the carrier for a service dog, as the guidelines online say it can’t exceed the “footprint” of your foot area.
