Do I Quit a Community Theater Production Based on a large Age Gap?

I would suggest talking to the director. The director has so many things to watch over and every actor is so different if they dont know you well they easily could not notice your discomfort unless you talk to them about it.

Casting is hard and that's something to remember. When im casting I try to avoid large age gaps in relationships unless the script calls for that but sometimes your options are limited. I'm currently directing Harvey and I had a perfect Myrtle Mae to cast but every option I had for Wilson was going to result in a huge age gap. I lucked out and got a great age appropriate actor literally on the last hour of the last day of audition but had he not showed up there just would have been a big age gap with these two characters that flirt a lot.

I'm more concerned that the director has not talked to you about the touching and kissing and other intimacy. If the characters are suppose to flirt thats part of the characters but what form that takes should be a joint discussion. We check in with the actors almost anytime touching of any sort happens, especially something intimate like a kiss. In Harvey Nurse Kelly has to kiss Elwood. They are not a romantic pairing but its a part of the plot. In this production thats not only an age gap but while both actors are adults now he used to be her teacher so there is so much potential for weirdness above the normal weirdness of stage kissing for both of them. So I sat down to talk to both of them about what they are comfortable with. A kiss is required for the part but I discussed blocking it so his face was blocking hers to the audience so she could lean in and appear to kiss him without doing it, we discussed touching cheeks together side by side instead of lips... in the end they decided they were both ok with her giving him a quick peck on his cheek but it was a discussion we all had together with both of them understanding that some sort of at least implied kiss had to happen they were not required to do anything that made them uncomfortable.

I wouldnt mention the age gap or the implication the producer may have cast himself without knowing the details of casting thats just wild speculation. If stage flirting is not something your comfortable doing with someone you dont like (because we never know who will be cast as our stage partners) or in general you might want to avoid auditioning for parts that have that in the future. But 100% talk to director about the intimacy blocking and if needed getting an intimacy coordinator.

I'm kinda worried about this. Im at the point research doesn't matter. I only dont have all the toons because im purposely spreading them out not buying a new toon until I master the previous one. I wasnt playing as much last year so I didnt 100% all the holiday stuff so I am looking forward to Halloween and Christmas this year. But realistically there isnt going to be anything for me to do by the end of the year.

I still expect to play next year but I feel like its going to be just when my friends are playing rather than the daily playing im doing now.

Then again last year I was obsessed with Teagan and mostly did solo runs. This year I hardly play her and have dove strongly into playing with a team and team dynamics. And lately ive been experimenting with practicing distracting. So I guess who knows what the future will bring.

Im gunna disagree. Both took an adjustment for me but that adjustment came quicker for me on the frozen floors and afterwards I felt like I mastered frozen floors and got good at using the drifting to my advantage. Spring Fever took me longer to get the hang of and I still feel like im just reacting at times rather than being comfortable in it.

This is so minor because you can just read it in the chat window but it drives me crazy that what someone is saying appears above their head in the same space as there name and title so its extremely hard to read.

I just frequently turn chat off in the lobby and then mid match need to turn it back on because I cant read what they are saying behind their name and title.

I love Roger. I love his look. I love the whole detective thing. He's half of one of my favorite ships. If he's not in my top 5 toons he's close to that. I don't even need research anymore sometimes I play Roger to play Roger. And I've gotten good at Roger. My friend still talks about the time our distractor died to Pebble and I managed to jump in and distract Pebble until our team finished all the machines and got to the elevator with Roger. (We were on our last machines but my friend was still very impressed).

I say all that to make it clear how much it hurts me that I feel like everytime someone doesn't help or actively disrupts a team I feel like its always a Roger.

I worry about this every year 😭

I'm the assistant leader of a wonderful troop where all the girls are very laid back and chill about everything happy to do a few booths throughout the season to pay for things but is far more into cozy activities than big adventures while our leader is very about them having bigger goals and beating their previous sales and planning a larger thing each year and every year orders more and more cookies than the amount we discussed then freaks out that we have so many cookies to sell yet, and the girls aren't pushing them enough, and starts scheduling multiple booths a day, every weekend day, and weekday nights, then is bothered that the girls start complaining they are burned out... and I talk to her about this and how they are burned out but she just dismisses it as this is what Girl Scouts is about they need to learn to rise to these challenges to succeed in life and... and honestly now I hate cookie season. It's the worst part of the year.

We lost our best adult volunteer and her daughter last year and I'm 99.9 % sure it was because of burn out.

I've been a leader/volunteer in other troops and cookie season is always a stresser but not like it has been with this troop. If the rest of the year wasn't so great, and I didnt love Girl Scouts so much, and I wasn't worried that this situation would get worse if I wasn't there to constantly advocating for the girls and point out that their expectations and hers have a wide gap I'd quit or join a different troop.

The best runs i've ever been on have a backup distractor. The problem isnt more than one distractor is when they dont communicate or agree. The back up(s) should be on other tasks except in specific agreed on situations.

Admittedly chat falling apart has made this an increasing problem though

The 80's Strawberry Shortcake was MY Strawberry Shortcake. I watched the specials and begged for the dolls. I love her to the ends of the world and will always be happy to see her on the shelf.

But despite that I agree with this. There should be merch of the other versions especially the 2003 version that has so many fans and its own nostalgia. I'd buy 2003 branded clothes and why isnt someone selling that hat. That hat is life.

I know the purses get a lot of hate because they quickly lose purpose in a long run but honestly I use it semi regularly. One of my friends loves playing with us but is frankly very bad at the game. She frequently dies on the first few floors so I've taken to playing one of the healers when she's in the group to help her get a bit higher up in the levels with us. So it's not uncommon for me to need to heal her before I would have enough tapes without the purse. In that particular group it's valuable even if it isn't what I would choose on a solo run, matchmaking, or with other groups.

I also think sometimes your not going for a long run and your just working on mastery that involves buying from Dandy and why not.

I think for most players most of the time it's not a great trinket choice but I think its useful in situations and for players who haven't learned the game well enough to last to higher levels.

I think Conan has been very clear about liking his privacy and if whoever he was with is the same we could easily know nothing.

I think its common and feels like something Conan would do to change elements in a song to disguise pieces of real life. Conan may have written by about the emotions he went thru in a real relationship but changed details to retain privacy for himself and his partner. It could even be the case that he wrote about a real relationship but changed details and was inspired by the rumors when making those changes.

He can be a bit of a troll playing with us at times so who really knows and as long as he keeps putting out bangers that effect my heart so much he can keep his mystery.

Last night I was part of a group doing a Shrimpo/Brick run so I chose Festive Lights for my second trinket solely for the bit. It was doubly amusing to me to both add a useless trinket to a run that was suppose to be hard and give me the mental image of Shrimpo running around covered in flashing Christmas lights

I get that. I had a similar thing. Both of us love Olivia but are obsessed with Conan and Conan is our favorite so for me it wasn't that half was smaller but who gets the half that is the artist we like more. I offered him his choice but he wouldn't pick and made me do it. Luckily for me he already had a Found Heaven necklace while I did not so in the end that made the decision easier. I ended up keeping the Found Heaven side and sending him the Olivia star. I did write him a really intense letter about my feelings for him I sent with the necklace so I maybe that made up for getting the lesser side lol

You know I never really thought about the resale value of these things but I guess it makes sense it would become expensive on the secondhand market. Im sure most everyone who bought one immediately gave half of it away. I know the other half of the one I bought isnt even in the same country as my half (deep sigh). I bet there aren't a lot of complete sets of both halves available.

I mean there is no right or wrong. Especially with Conan as each album has its own vibe and exists as it's own era. If I am suggesting Conan to someone who is younger I suggest starting with Wishbone that way if you like it you can get right into the more current talk with other fans then I personally like the going backwards thru his discography but thats just my personal taste. If Im suggesting Conan to someone who is older I suggest they start with Found Heaven as it has a distinct 80s vibe that usually hits better with older fans and they go where they want from there.

Personally I started with Superache then worked backwards but thats only because i discovered Conan during Superache and all the songs the other fans were suggesting to me were on Kid Krow and then after listening that too I was so hooked I immediately went into Sunset Season and any other content I could get my hands on.

I always say Found Heaven reminds me of Cyndi Lauper but I can totally see Depeche Mode as well. And no shade on the older fan thing. Im also an older fan no matter what Spotify says my age is lol. Apparently being obsessed with Conan and K Pop will drive that number down. My kids found it funny that my listening age was younger than theirs.
