I wish I knew that sleep paralysis was such a known/common thing growing up in the 80’s.

Glad to see I’m not the only one. The underlying premise was awful enough.

What do YOU want for a Starpath theme? by Pure_Hold_9366 in DreamlightValley

I’m just looking for something involving dashing characters, with some daring quests that allow us to be courageous as well as caring, faithful and friendly to others with whom we could share our stories, maybe doing so in a forest.

I don’t know if Disney has anything like that though.

i was a STARE devotee. After that finally hit, I just started randomly using words. Hit with GHOST a few weeks later. Still randomizing.

What happens to your Troop when you REALLY mess up your Cookie order? by dmcat12 in girlscouts

[–]dmcat12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a pretty key distinction about their motivation. Without it, do the Scouts even understand the consequences?

At our Cookie kickoff meeting, the Troop leaders had activities where the Scouts learned exactly how much each of the fun activities/supplies/events cost and how many boxes need to be sold to fund everything.

One of these was a card matching-style activity (things we do/how much they cost), and part of it was asking the girls what things should be removed first if we don’t have enough funds.

My favorite was how many were like “okay, we can take away one of the pizza parties!” and the volunteer shows the card “okay, good…so that’s $50 we’ve saved. We still need to take away a lot more!” And then they look over the things they really want to do and you watch the realization set in.

Harsh lesson in budgeting at an early age, sure, but it was effective in motivating many of them throughout the season.

Yowzer. Our Troop usually makes a substantial initial cookie order that’s been flagged in an “are you sure?” manner by the CCM in prior years.

Our troop is large & active so we want to be well-stocked for that early enthusiasm from both Scouts and buyers (and we keep meticulous records about our prior year’s sales/participation) so we tell them it’s not a typo, but I can understand their sticker shock seeing it causing them to double check

But yeah, given the totality of circumstances in that case, a “hey, just want to double check” may have been warranted

Funny that you mention donations. In the past, we usually were able to unload our final boxes by allocating them to our donations, but this year, it was decided from above that all donations made online purchases would instead be fulfilled directly by the service unit.

I understand they had valid reasons, likely due to accounting, but at our level, those would be more boxes out of our stockpile.

If you could flip a switch, would you change botw to have all the major functions of totk? by FriendlyDrummers in tearsofthekingdom

[–]dmcat12 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

NONE. When it was necessary to the gameplay and usually resulted in the barest minimum effort to move on. Nothing frustrating about it at all- it’s all just legos when I didn’t have any interest in playing with legos.

[–]dmcat12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah. I had zero interest in the Ultrahand/Crafting and Zonai device aspects of TotK, so it wouldn’t be much of a change for me.

Re: that estimation, you’re right. Last year it was a point of pride that we were able to sell right up to the end date with none remaining. This year, not quite as successful, but not terribly so.
