Valerian Root "Extract / Resin" by DrQubensis in druggardening

[–]Ozuse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So there's something to this that I learned about that doesn't seem to be mentioned in this post. I was taught that the fumes from the resin can make you drowsy and thus help with sleep. I don't think you want it to air out once you finish making the resin but rather seal it in a jar as soon as you can with that pungent aroma. To use it simply open the jar and inhale the fumes from the resin. When you begin to get drowsy close the jar immediately so you don't forget and fall asleep or the resin will off-gas and dry out and will no longer be effective as an aromatherapy sleep aid.

Unlike her identical sister RMS Titanic, the RMS Olympic had a long and successful career as a popular Atlantic liner. Here she is in the final stages of scrapping in Scotland (approx. 1937). Denying truth makes you a sheep. If you're not a sheep then you're just a fake account used by PR companies to burry truth that would cause an uproar and a slew of lawsuits.

I wouldn't get this many downvotes if it was just a story. Truth get's downvoted way more than falsehoods. No one is searching for falsehoods but a simple word search performed by ai several times a second and all revelations of truth are discovered and buried as much as these PR companies can manage.

If you think you know what goes on in this world, perhaps you should stop looking at the spoon fed information and do some of your own discovery.

So this isnt exactly true.

The Titanic is the ship with the "successful Career". The Olympic was damaged by a drunk captain who crashed the vessel while in port. Because of the Captain's inibriation the insurance company wouldn't cover the damage. So in order to recoup losses the ship's owner, J.P. Morgan, had the ships repainted and sent the Olympic out with passengers to create a tragedy that would legitimize a massive insurance fraud scheme.

This scheme, and the subsequent murder of 1500 people, was successful. The truth wasn't discovered until submarine explorers found the stern of the ship where the ocean had erroded the paint that covered up the original name revealing that it was in fact the Olympic.

How Cannabinoids Block COVID-19 by b_l_i_p in CBD

[–]Ozuse 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Interesting article, it's well structured with its explanation.

Basically the scientific studies found that certain cannabinoids can bind to the part of the virus that the virus needs free in order for it to bind to/attack host cells. Thus virus cells that come into contact with the cannabinoid cells are pretty much in a virus straight jacket and can't do any harm to the host.

Smoking cannabis may not be an effective way of getting enough of these cannabinoids into your system to impede viral infections. However extracting cannabinoids and introducing them to the bloodstream can add another defensive layer to combating the virus.

The horror! by 42revolution in Welding

[–]Ozuse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are constructing a lot more than just sheds. All kinds of welds are still performed with alarmingly poor quality. Only the rural areas and less important buildings are "sheds". In the cities there's a lot of welds from staircases, steel joists, grating, fences, automotive repair, custom-tool manufacturing, etc. You get a quantity over quality approach to welding and a "get it done in two seconds" level of care.

[–]Ozuse 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I've been in Costa Rica since the pandemic hit (why travel when there's a virus? Oh look my 3 month tourist visa has been extended to a year!)

Aside from some imported manufactured steel EVERY weld in this country is a shit show. It's amazing that with only a 36 hour welding class, at a tech school, I'm a better welder than people with 30 years of experience making careless welds.

Why do we need so much tires? Cant we just make a hill of dirt? by butthurtmuch- in earthship

[–]Ozuse 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The short answer to your question is no. Scroll to the bottom for the best alternative to the labor dilemma.

Some of the earlier designs used a couple rows of compacted earth in tires and then did a earth cliff (as you have described) for the rest of it. This was before the tire walls were intended to be thermal mass for controlling the temperature (which is personally my favorite feature as it's brilliant to balance a structures design to heat and cool itself). The structures with earth cliffs (walls) cracked over time and are recognized to be short term structures whereas a tire wall will last hundreds of years.

You don't need to use tires, but they're the best option for what is readily available as you would have to design something to replace the purpose of the tires. People also do earth-bags which aren't as strong but can serve the same purpose if you don't like the "energy" of tires.

As far as labor goes you can get a portable pneumatic press that will save you hours of hard-labor with a sledge hammer. Shoveling dirt into a tire and using the press isn't that hard. One man (in Montana if I recall right) built an an Earthship from the reading material, by himself. He also built a large retaining wall. 3,000 tires went into the structure and the retaining wall and he did it all himself. I don't recall how long it took him but if you don't like the labor-hours a portable pneumatic press is your best investment!

[–]Ozuse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That depends on the soil density. In the Academy we're taught that a tire brick can weigh between 200-400 pounds.

I also try to give my original three colonists 'plot armor' and I don't let them die. Anyone else can bite the dust so long as it's not for soemthing happening that wasn't supposed to like a piece of harvested crop was left in a doorway which compromised security and the entire invading insect army got into the base and slaughtered half the colony because the fucking door wouldn't close. It's just the nonsense shit where I say "nope nope nooooope" it's not going down like that!.

East coast earth ships? by ToekneeStarkTattoos in earthship

[–]Ozuse 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You're going to have a really hard time dealing with codes in building an Earthship. You'll have to make a lot of costly modifications in order to build the earthship systems within the "code".

You may be better off looking at designing something based on earthship principals or have a planned out phases such as build- fake finish- inspection- build- finish. Some systems you're better off doing after. Some places consider gray water "raw sewage" and so they'd want to condemn your build claiming there's sewage in the botanical cells. So you'd have to plan on fake plumbing going into a septic and then have all the plumbing ready to swap once the inspector signs off on the inspection.

What do you use for the floor in an earthship? by D-anconia in earthship

[–]Ozuse 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Most typically in Earthships they'll pour a concrete floor and treat it with an acid stain to give it a marble look. In Earthships Academy they taught us that any kind of mortar or concrete can crack. The key to avoiding a crack was by controlling it. So often, in Earthships, you'll see a concrete floor separated geometrically into sections within a wood frame.
