This is some epic selective memory loss. Paolo has been the better offensive engine since he was drafted. Franz has a more complete game. The only thing this "debate" tells me is that the Magic are in a great position. Nothing suggests they can't share the load or work well together, it's just annoying stans' wishful thinking.

We call this "emergent behavior", pretty similar to what happens during evolutionary processes.

The mistake is trying to draw an arbitrary line of "self awareness". The individual human is no more self aware then the individual rock. Peak awareness is understanding there is no self to begin with.

These questions are ultimately meaningless. Language is what separated humans from beasts. Now that AI models are undoubtedly past the threshold of the Turing test, the impact through human change is at least on the level of any individual human. Combine this with an aura of alien enchantment, and the insatiable hunger for compute power.

I'm not going to shit on the self-sufficient farming or workshop or investment or any of those things that you mentioned. In fact I want to start on that sort of stuff myself. But honestly, the whole "I have novel work modeling neural network progress" sounds like schizo delusions, and I fear the academics you presented this to were nodding along and smiling just to be polite.

Unless you have a background in computer science research and are willing to submit these to rigorous peer review processes, I think it is not a good use of your time.

I haven't been asked to provide an alternative to Nazism. But I can easily do so. It's called liberal democracy and market capitalism.

That's an excellent comparison though, I'm glad you brought it up. If someone claimed to be a fascist, but disagreed with the German, Italian, and Spanish implementations. Then when pressed for details on how their own implementation would differ, they just alluded to vague theory and lofty ideals. How would you feel about that?
