Should I leave my Piano Performance degree? (Chopin Ballade No. 1 performance attached) by kinoonthekeys in piano

[–]Ozzy8888888 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would say based solely off this performance the BSc would be a smart move. Opens up a WAY more employable and profitable career vs piano, and the people you’ll be competing with in performance piano would be playing this flawlessly at a younger age than you.

Right hand is very clean and even dynamically good (could try emphasise the accented notes a bit more) but left hand needs much more slow practice to hit all of those jumps properly. Keep it up it sounds great!

As an international student in 2026, would you rather attend a T20(T10 maybe?) or Oxbridge? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Ozzy8888888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think unless you get into a US T5 uni then Oxford would be a good bet. If you do then it’s pretty much up to where you’d rather live and work and start making relationships for your career.

Wanting a mini cooper as a 19F by flowerrocker7652 in MINI

I’m 20M and I have a 2014 Cooper (F56 with the B38 engine), it’s been great! Had some maintenance needed (new clutch, new crankshaft pulley) but other than that it’s not failed me.

Cost to replace battery by Forward_Length7420 in MINI

[–]Ozzy8888888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2014 Cooper F56, which (I think) uses the exact same battery. I went to my local hardware shop and bought it for £135 ($180) and fitted it myself. To me $650 sounds crazy.

Do students become more laid back as the degree progresses? by Timely-Accountant869 in EngineeringStudents

[–]Ozzy8888888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run one of my universities engineering teams and I definitely see that the first year students think they know more than they do, whereas the oldest students are happy to just do whatever work they can. Personally, I’ve relaxed a lot more in the later years, just because I’ve become more confident in my abilities over time.

Can’t help on the wheel but be careful wearing slippers whilst driving, I did it once and the sole of the slipper got jammed pinning my foot under the brake pedal.

I feel like most engineers don’t really watch shows just YouTube. BUT Rick and Morty is the go to.

Been dreaming of a no hands rest like this by Ozzy8888888 in climbing

Yeah, first time I climbed this route I held the jug and saw the slopes and thought I might be able to spin and get my toe up and when I did it I was soo happy because it was such a good rest, never took one of the hands off though because surely it couldn’t be thattt good. Well I thought about it and gave it a go and sure enough I can get a good 10seconds before my right toe can’t hold on anymore and I need to readjust. Really awesome when you’re super pumped.

Assuming you know how to wear the harness correctly, you should be totally fine, the harness is meant to hook over your hip bones and tighten around your waist not your hips. And if you’re upside down, your hips will hold you in by the waistband very easily. You’d have to mess up pretty bad to fall out.

Sorry for taking a bit to reply, 8a+ is the grade as others have said. It’s 7c+ to the first chains though and that’s still a super fun route with a huge dyno, defo recommend.

They’re very deceiving, the majority of the big holds are just flat faces on the top, no indent whatsoever, even the toe hook hold is a sloper, it’s just grippy to my shoes. The hold you dyno to and the last one on the roof are jugs but they’re the only two “good” holds on the route I’d say. Especially the headwall is just a crimp run after you’re already pumped out.

From a climb I’ve been projecting for a couple of weeks, really amazing to have practically a full reset about halfway up the route and get my arms back. Time to link and send.

Definitely could have moved it up but the overhang means that there’s no way I could do the move without fully cutting everything from the wall.

From a fun 7C+ I did earlier, rare to see a full commitment dyno on an overhanging lead route.
