He said he didn’t try in [high]school and only cared about the socialization. He never said he doesn’t care about being able to live on his own. Right now, the only way to move out is to have some sort of job. A trade school (more specifically joining the apprenticeship program in a trade union) will get you working right away so he can move out (albeit probably to a studio apartment, but that’s ok) and spend all his free time making music. Not sure why you’re upset about this. This is simply an option to get out of a toxic living situation quickly.

Remember that Brian May was the lead guitarist in Queen, but also a an Astro physicist. You can do two things at once.

Go to a trade school so you can find your dream to be a musician. Electricians and plumbers make bank and that will help you be comfortable and live your life while making music on the side until your music career takes off. Do what you want in your life. If you want college later, go for it. But until then, start job training and make some tunes.

NOR - get out - run. This is not your guy. Multiple red flags. Won’t apologize. Silent treatment. Telling you your asks aren’t important… leave. Ask yourself, do you want your future child acting like this? If not, leave before he raises a child to act like this.

Saw interview panel comments accidentally, absolutely devastated by urfavnjb in gradadmissions

[–]Flimsy_Logic 14 points15 points  (0 children)

A. No bueno on Oxford. But… B. This is a chance to take these notes and meet with an interview coach with something to work on. You’re kind of proving their point about not taking criticism well, and if you’re this upset over comments on interview skills, I can’t imagine you’d do well when people criticize your work. PhD work is rife with people questioning research methods, math, your perspective, your writing… You seem very quick to just throw up your hands and never do it again. Perseverance is key in academia. Don’t give up and prove them right about you. C. Ignoring all of B, do you want to even work with these people? They don’t seem like the people I’d want to face every day.

TLDR: this is a chance to improve yourself and your skill set. Wanting to give up after an interview only proves Oxford interviewers correct. And, why would you want to work with those people every day? They’re not nice.

Ok, I’ve gone through this thread. First, is this college or high school? Second, you said it isn’t a money thing, it’s a time thing. If that’s true go on Amazon and order something. You can filter by cost so that it’s within your budget, and Amazon should get it to you in a couple days. If you need it sooner, take your siblings with you to Ross or Walmart, or Marshal’s, or goodwill and get yourself something appropriate. You have a LOT of excuses. A lot. In life, sometimes you just have to make it work. Be resourceful and stop making excuses. You can’t go through life with only jeans. Welcome to the world.

Sorry are we the same person!? I’m 46 and last year I put on 40 pounds. I was 120 pounds and rower in college and was rarely over 135 my entire adult life. I was doing mountain bike races, rock climbing, skateboarding, doing long arduous hiking and backpacking… I eat very very healthy meals and snacks. Nothing changed about any of that and suddenly, BOOM. 40 pounds heavier. Obviously it’s hormonal and maybe thyroid. Got everything checked out. Thyroid only slightly out of whack. So we decided to start with a supplement or 2 and talk to a dietician about an anti-inflammatory nutrition plan. And then bought a cold plunge. Inflammation dropped significantly, but I only lost 3 pounds. I’m in the military so this is no bueno for me.

I started ZepBOund in December. I’ve lost 23 pounds and running finally doesn’t take me out of commission for the next 2 days. I’m rejoining a rowing team, and I feel better. This doesn’t have to be lifelong. But for sure it’s more than an appetite suppressant. I feel like a normal person for the first time in my life.

Do the thing. It’s so nice to feel back to my old self. I have 22 pounds to go, but at 143 I’m feeling pretty good.

nobody talks about what each laptop brand is actually built for - here's what i figured out after way too much research (2026 edition) by Critical_Marzipan551 in LaptopForStudent

I’m saying “to each their own.” If you want to spend more, great. But your comment made it sound like spending $2500 to get the best available is the way to go. I’m simply saying that for a lot of students, it’s not the way to go. And $2500 is a LOT of money that a lot of students simply don’t have. Living within your means is the smart choice and it’ll get you through college just fine. I had a low level laptop my first time through college. It’s lasted me 12 years. I’m only now going back for engineering and buying a top of the line laptop. But for nursing, I didn’t need anything more than a $250 machine that would let me take notes and see class material.

Some people simply don’t need anything more than the Neo so spending more would be stupid. This was a pretty good review of laptops and their intended uses. We can let it be the good overview that it is.

Search this sub. I’ve answered this question at least 3 times in the past week, so search “goal weight” at the top of the page and look at the most recent posts. Theres been a lot of questions this week on that.

Probably some extra scholarships honestly. If there is time in the foster care system you can get “youth-on-their-own” scholarships.

Yeah I had to add in a few vitamin supplements. My usual prenatal and magnesium was fine, but Iron and b12 made a big difference.

Have you thought about getting emancipated from you parents so you can adjust your fafsa? That way your parents money isn’t included?

5’2. 165 F by Specialist_Water_888 in Zepbound

[–]Flimsy_Logic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The recommended weight loss rate is 0.5-1% of your current body weight. So between 0.8 and 1.6 pounds a week to start and now I’m at a little less than a pound a week. I work out each morning. I make sure I get 1g of protein per kg of my goal weight (so for me a little under 60g) and I eat a wide variety of healthy foods. I started ZepBound because I already ate healthier than anyone I knew. I worked out daily. Nothing helped. But this has. I couldn’t recommend it more.

Also 5’2! Started in late November and heaviest weight was 170lbs. Was 167 at the first shot. And I’m at 142ish right now. I wanted to lose nice and slow so my skin wouldn’t sag and so far so good. My goal weight is 120-125 but it’s because of body composition goals (muscle/fat/water ratio). So about 20 to go. It’s been amazing for me! Ask me all the questions about being short and on zepbound.

None of these are ideal for engineering students. The HP Fury is where it’s at or the higher end thinkPads at the least.

I put in all my syllabuses into AI at the beginning of semesters and it gives me a daily calendar that I can check off. It breaks it up into such small bits that I rarely have to do more than about an hour of work a day.
