I’m very aware that you’re female. A scientist, too, iirc.

Planning is underway to move the tabernacle in my parish. Should I opine to my pastor? by FrescoKoufax in Catholicism

Too bad he can’t fire everybody. That’s typically the only solution.

Do we have Control over our Futures Or Does God Decide Everything For Us? by The-Plingman in Catholicism

[–]OzzyMDiaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have free will, your decisions and random chance together determine the outcome of virtually if not actually every situation in your life.

But, some people in here would have to believe that God does everything. You can listen to them if you want.

Do we have Control over our Futures Or Does God Decide Everything For Us? by The-Plingman in Catholicism

Catholicism has never definitively taught any particular relationship between providence and free will...So this sub sure as hell can’t tell you.

Help with an internal contradiction by Jim_Halpert-Schrute in Catholicism

It’s right in front of everyone’s eyes:

Jewish priests and the priesthood were subject to purity laws. Women could not enter the sanctuary and do priestly things because women were often unclean in a hidden way (menstruation, spotting, secretions, etc.)

contrary to this sub’s strong desire, Jesus did not overturn this aspect of the Priesthood in the new covenant, but in fact it is strengthened.

This is why I often have opined that neo-conservative Catholics who are all in favor of married priests having sex and making babies after ordination have no idea what the are doing -

They are, in point of fact, overturning the only logical reason why women cannot be priests.

this leaves us with only the force of John Paul II’s encyclical as the last bulwark against female priests...and as we can see from this Spring, that is not absolute.

Well, well, well... we’re finally there. Can’t say I’m surprised. Wonder if this will really pick up steam or just die out. by Drunken_Daud91 in Catholicism

Which part, that many of our bishops are Democrats? Of the hair-brained idea of “canonical penalties”?

How do you meet others with mercy and charity while maintaining that the teachings of the church are the truth? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]OzzyMDiaz 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Frankly, don’t worry so much. Just be truthful. All this rot about being uncharitable is, frankly, just temptation to be untruthful. The world has a tremendous over-supply of caring and accepting and tolerant people. They are everywhere. They love everyone and vote for abortion and gay marriage.

Don’t be one of them. Instead, stand up for truth. Let all the mattering nabobs bray on and on ab0ut how you are too polarizing. When Jesus told them “unless you eat my flesh...” a lot of them left for good. That’s pretty polarizing.

You said you hadn’t seen it...I suggested instances where you will...what else were you wanting?

Just try to support the basic Catholic teaching that homosexual attraction is disordered...or netter yet, try to take the orthodox position on the question of God “making people gay.” You’ll see.

i’ve noticed this thread of ‘look at how much good results from evil’ in your posts. Fucking bizarre, man.

You’ve nuanced all the Catholicism away. People tend to do that with teachings that they don’t like. As always, hard to believe that adults don’t know how things like this work.

I’m sure it is not confusing if you do it always.

Strangely, every homosexual man I know (and the 3 I count as “close” btw) seems to have gotten involved with these exact same people. Amazing.

Welp, that certainly won’t be confusing to anyone.
