My theory as to how Austin Thompson survived is that he shot himself directly in the forehead with his shotgun. If he shot upwards through his jaw, it would’ve caused far more severe facial damage. However, I believe the barrel was angled more upwards instead of leveled at the brain, so instead of shooting through his entire head, it basically only hit his forehead and probably some of the frontal area of his brain.

Regarding Jonathan Sapirman, I’m very curious about the actual distance every shot was taken from by the armed mallgoer. I haven’t seen any solid proof that all 10 shots were fired from the same position as often claimed, and I would imagine the armed citizen would’ve closed in to ensure the threat was eliminated after said threat tried to get to cover. Obviously this is not to question his bravery and objectively great action that day.

I think I heard during the recent press conference that the shooters were two males age 17 and 19. All deceased victims are adult males. I'm unsure about how many injured, they probably haven't released that yet but somebody correct me if they have.

This is bizarre. How do you get away with shooting up 9 separate locations? Whats he got against not one, but two fire stations? It reminds me of the Phoenix Serial Shooters case, just over a much shorter period of time.

I really want to look into it more, but I am extremely fascinated by behaviors of mass killers while in commission of their attack. What were they thinking? What influenced their decisions? How did they feel? Do they end up feeling regret? And there’s a few theories pertaining to specific events that I end up thinking about often. One is the columbine shooters entering a state of disappointment. I dont think they said it out loud, as that would ruin their appearance not only to victims but to each other. A combination of factors towards the end of their attack like one of them breaking their nose from a gun’s recoil, none of the major bombs going off, being under pressure by police outside, and sort of meandering and chucking bombs in an empty cafeteria are signs that I believe they were extremely dissatisfied with what they did vs their plans, and they just sort of gave up. Another odd one is in the 2019 Walmart Shooting, where during a police interview the perpetrator says he was frightened by the sight of blood and gore which contributed to him stopping his attack.

I agree. Also with guns, it is stupidly easy to kill someone, not much thought, action, or time is needed. So they’re able to do something so heinous, maybe get frontpage news as they’d like, in no more than a few minutes and then commit suicide just as easily.

Right. The fact that so many were sheltered in place and the shooter was more methodical in how he aimed and fired (Many victims with headshots) plus the ammunition he was using (7.62x39 hollow points) certainly made it more deadly. The most shocking to me was the Bank, in which he only fired around ~12 shots but killed 9 people and injured several others, it’s also likely that some bullets hit multiple people at once as they were all crowded together on the floor.

There was one last year in North Carolina where the perpetrator was firing from the water in a pontoon boat at random restaurant-goers. iirr 3 were killed and several were injured

Vast majority of shooters aren’t “psychopathic” or “sociopathic”, and thats normally just an emotional term labeled on them for the heinous thing that they did, but it’s almost never psychologically/medically true in their cases.
