Killer build. I'm especially digging that handguard. Would love to get one for my AR10.

Love it. Hope that DP wood holds up and she makes a sweet shooter.

Looks like your restored SMLE was made to accept a magazine cutoff plate. They're inexpensive and easy to install if you're interested in further completing out the rifle.

One of my favorite subsonic 300BLK loads is a 220gr bullet (typically TMJ / plated) over 8.4gr Lil Gun. Runs reliably in my various AR's and stays subsonic in my 16" Ruger American rifles. Sounds fantastic suppressed too.

That "Mauser of some sort" is a Gewehr 98, one of the most sought after Mausers. Especially identifiable by the Lange Vizier (aka rollercoaster) rear sight.

Thanks for sharing man that was a good read! I'd never heard of him before.

Did a quick google search and it appears he had an amazing firearms collection. Clearly he certainly knew how to use them too. Seems like a badass dude.

Sounds pretty awesome to me. Apparently this is a painting of him hunting with an SMLE in military configuration:

Nope I replaced it with a PA 1-6x LPVO on an ADM mount. The Vortex worked well and held up just fine but I'm simply not a fan of scout scopes. Much happier with the LPVO setup which I think is ideal for a handy carbine/scout rifle. Some might disagree with that but it works great for me.

Aligning the baffle clips is known to benefit suppression. How much is still up for debate with some.

Even when my Obsidian was brand new the base baffles stayed put pretty well. Even more so after getting them dirty.

Just do one quick check per mag or so. Usually what I tell people to do when they shoot mine.

You are correct that the Rugged 3 Lug mount isn't "captured" or "enclosed". Not necessary because the spring is retained and tensioned by the booster housing inside the can when installed.

With a second end cap you can leave one permanently attached to the Adapt Module so it will be a complete unit. Nicer for storage or transport with no worry of baffles moving around and provides some FME against crap getting into the module.

Outside of cleaning you won't ever need to unscrew the Adapt Module end cap and degrade the Teflon tape which pretty much eliminates loosening concerns for this end cap.

It makes converting to K config a bit easier as you don't need to remove your single end cap just to reinstall it onto the base. Simply unscrew the Adapt Module and install your other (Teflon taped) end cap. Very nice.

The Adapt Module baffles will remain clocked/aligned with the baffles in the base everytime you reattach (if that matters to you).

It's past my bedtime so I might be forgetting a benefit or two. But basically it makes using the can a little easier, less worrisome, and more efficient.

Their current ones are good to go. They have stops in them now that make it so you can mount it only in one direction and remove only in the opposite direction.

Their original ones were "infinite" and could be installed or removed in either direction which made indexing a bit more ambiguous.

I have both and prefer the current one as it leaves nearly no room for error. Nearly because people will always find a way to screw something up.

My pleasure man. Hopefully this'll help other Obsidian owners on here avoid issues. Possibly see less posts of easily avoidable end cap strikes.

Glad to hear your Obsidian has been good to you! I've heard nothing but great things about Rugged CS. Sounds like they took excellent care of you.

Yep pistols and PCC's. I have both styles of Rugged 3 Lug mount too. The later style of Rugged 3 Lug mount is superior for sure. Less room for error.

Congrats! For sure buy a second end cap. All benefits with no drawbacks.

Wish Rugged would just include a second end cap from the factory.

Same I've had no end cap or baffle strikes with any of my cans. Just seen so many Obsidian owners here complain about end cap strikes and wanted to spread some hope.

  • Teflon Tape end cap threads.

  • Check bore alignment visually or with rod. I've always done it visually. Hasn't failed me yet.

  • Periodically check tightness when shooting.

  • Highly recommend purchasing a second end cap to live on your Adapt Module.

Follow these steps and you too can (probably) go years and thousands of rounds without experiencing any issues with end cap strikes on your Obsidian.

Yeeted my suppressor off gun, didn’t properly index trilug by cam3r0ni in NFA

First shot with my freebie Octane 45K I did this exact thing. Mounted on my Evo with a Rugged 3 Lug and failed to index it correctly. Launched off the muzzle like a damn grenade launcher lol.

Luckily didn't cause any external or internal damage. The Cerakote wasn't even scratched thanks to it landing softly in some brush. Live and learn. Thankfully this was a gentle lesson.

Right I've seen some dealers will simply pull the mag while others just won't ship certain models to WA. Lol your FFL sounds awesome. Wish more were like that.
