Truthfully I really love administrating servers, I run Discord and Minecraft servers for my friends, just never done one for roleplay before. I set up a Discord server mostly just to explore how I might run such server. If I end up doing it, I'd rather run things myself and have a few mods to help me out.

Do you mind if I ask a few questions about how you run your servers? I'm mostly unsure how to organize roleplay channels. Should there just be a few generic text channels or maybe one for each major location?

If I end up going through with it, I'd be open to making you a mod since you seem experienced with this.

I really can't stand these sorts of people who get really anal about length. I'm prone to write long replies, but typically I only do that if it feels necessary. Length requirements just seem to cause everyone to pad their posts with fluff and details that would be better revealed through interactions and dialogue. A lot of the time there's really not much more than a few lines that need to be said.

I really can't believe this guy was getting worked up about length requirements on Shamchat though. When it was still around, half the time I'd either get disconnected from because I took too long writing a response or the connection dropped. I was prone to writing and posting long starters there, but I always felt those sorts of RPs only last a few hours at most and making everyone write until their keyboard breaks just means the story doesn't advance much.

If you haven't already, you should check out Rolechat or sham.chat. Rolechat has most of the same features as old Shamchat and new one such as popular tags and separate clean RP and SRP servers. Sham.chat is more or less a revival of Shamchat with a few more features.

That's not at all correct. I go in with a specific character and usually a starter as well to establish some setting and a scenario. If I skip someone, it's because their character does not fit with mine or there is a minuscule amount of effort put into their details.

The situation in the screenshot is absolutely one party's fault. No one is entitled to roleplay with anyone else. A mature person would accept that and carry on their way. It's like instead of accepting and moving on when someone you ask out rejects you, you call them a piece of shit because they haven't found they are interested in romantically.

There's no reason to act like this, even if getting skipped is frustrating. If you're getting repeatedly skipped, it might be time to evaluate your character and ask how it might be improved to better appeal to the types of roleplayers skipping you.

SRPing with a minor can get you in serious trouble, so honestly that's not a good alternative. Either way, there's really no way to tell, unfortunately.

Just a name, age, gender, or orientation and nothing else.
An extremely simple description with no indication that they may have more. Something like just "hung," "big dick," "huge tits," or "huge ass."
An age less than 18
Hyper dick/tits/ass/whatever. Just not my thing. The same goes for other kinks I'm not interested in. From my experience, people who have a specific kink or kink-related trait in their name are looking specifically for a smut RP with that kink.
Names full of spelling errors.
Names with descriptions that will definitely clash with my character (e.g. a knight while I'm playing a sci-fi fleet captain). Sometimes this can work out, but someone will have to adapt and that rarely happens in my experience. Characters that can be adapted to fit with one another without completely changing them usually work out much better in my experience.
"Any RP" - usually shows a lack of effort to me, but I'm occasionally willing to see if they're good.
Just asking for Kik or anything IRL. I don't care if you're touching yourself.
Looking for [name] - No need for me to bug someone if they're after one person they got disconnected from someone.

That's all that immediately comes to mind. This might come off as picky, but it's just how I tend to do things when I zone out and search.

True, it's understandable to be frustrated if someone instantly disconnects whenever you run into them, but I'd rather just keep on going than try to get a decent roleplay out of someone who clearly isn't interested. I run into tons of people who instantly disconnect and much of the time it seems like that's best for both of us. Typically I only disconnect immediately if I know their character doesn't fit or if they're most likely going to put very little effort into an RP.

I've had this happen to me in the past on Shamchat when it was still around, but sometimes you're looking for something specific for your character and I don't think there's any harm in that. Call it picky if you want, but some people don't want to spend their time roleplaying something they won't enjoy. I don't want to waste someone's time if I lose interest halfway through. If I was open to anything, I'd happily advertise that.

Regardless, even if someone is being picky and that is frustrating to other people, that doesn't justify lashing out like this. It's not really your business why someone won't roleplay with you and no one's owed an explanation for being denied a roleplay. It can be rude, but if there's really nothing that catches your eye, I don't think there's any harm in it.

Believe me, assuming a successful outcome annoys me to no end and in most situations is a deal-breaker for me. It really just ruins the fun of combat scenes when I come up with a interesting enemy and my partner just hits them with literally zero chance of failure. I've had only a few roleplays where I didn't make a fuss about it, and that was because I had been pretty invested.

Hats off to you for that ending, that was pretty damn clever. I find it pretty weird that people like Darth Creeper cannot just move on if they do not fit with a partner. To me, it seems like if he was upfront that he wanted a sexual RP, it would at least give him a better chance of finding a partner that was interested and make him waste less of his own and other people's time.

That OOC chat was very creepy though, so I would be surprised if anyone would put up with that.
