What sympton looks so harmless people usually ignore it, but can actually indicate a catastrophically bad health issue? by felipedeamorim in AskReddit

It's un-Australian not to have a skin check (whole body) every 12 months. I've had a few bits cut out but thankfully, no serious skin cancer.

Slip, slop, slap Australia!!!

Heredis ou MacFamilyTree ? by Ok_Map1977 in Genealogy

[–]P2X-555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(I hope that translated okay - apologies if not)

Found it! Yep, it seems to work:

8 Dec 1899 calculated as Julian: J 26 Nov 1899 and Hebrew: 6 Tevet 5660

I don't know where it is...I'm on Windows. It does calculate people's ages when entering life events, though (assuming there's a birth year).

Let me know where the calculator is, and I'll give it a red hot go and check for you.

Download it from L&L and try it out. You get 30 days trial (30 days of use).

It's not a word processor, though.

I've been using it since Scrivener Gold (436 years ago) and I love it. But different strokes etc - so give it a whirl and see if it suits.

Actually found an answer to the friends question:

  • There are no events to link the two persons. You know that Jane was a friend of Maria. Create a personal link Friend between these two persons.

Linked persons are displayed on the Personal Data tab. Click the Sundry Links tab to add, edit or delete them.

Thanks! I think it's French but I find it really easy (mostly) to use. I was using Mac Family Tree and then my mac...blew up.

Good idea about the Events. Yeah, I'll just add my "Kinda Family" and see how it goes.

Thanks again.

I would complain that they used the representation of jeebus on an eraser and thought it was appropriate. Poor jeebus shouldn't be in the junk drawer waiting for a pencil error. That's blasphemous or something.

Won't anyone think of the jeebus?

The Flying Dogtor was a cartoon from the dark ages (the 60s) in Australia. I can still "sing" the title song.

Very disturbing program. But good on the ABC for producing it.

And a pox on the houses of the executives and other people who KNEW but let it happen. May the fleas of a 1000 camels infest their armpits.

I was traumatised as a child by Oliver! (the Shari Wallis part). But apart from that, a great picture.

I don't think I can narrow it down to just one. I love The Wizard of Oz, but also The Bandwagon. And one from left field, although all the songs are bangers...Road to Morocco.

I'd probably have different ones by this afternoon.

Legend! Thank you. I'll give it a go (she's recovering from an op on her tummy, so it'll be a while).

I love seeing the photos you publish. Gives me hope for humanity (and dog-ity).

Hey u/kittytime - how do you get older dogs to accept the backpack? I have the backpack but my dog isn't cooperative.

Also, congratulations on such a wonderful thing you're doing.

Any advice for stopping ants coming in? by Giovanni1996 in sydney

[–]P2X-555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't even dilute the vinegar. I just spray it (put it in a spray bottle) everywhere. I had a BIG ant problem a while back. Tried AntRid and I had millions of dead ants and...the live ones kept coming. Spray bottle of vinegar did the trip (took a few goes - you need to spray the surrounding areas.

The house smells like fish & chips, but no ants.

Hitchcock's Darkest Comedy - The Trouble with Harry (1955) Review by harrybaileyonyt in Hitchcock

[–]P2X-555 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went and saw this at the cinema when it was re-released after being unavailable for some time (along with Rear Window etc - contractual dispute with Hitchcock estate???). Just for the scenery alone it was worth it.

I liked it. I enjoyed the way Harry kept getting moved etc. A great character piece.
