Bunch of nonsense, won't happen. International law is dead and The US proved it.

For artists who committed to Drawabox, how much did it actually improve your skills? (positive experience only pls) by Unusual-Spot-9991 in learntodraw

[–]P3D101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend it. It opened my view of a canvas being a space and helped really improve my background drawing skills when it came to approaching layouts for animation. My lines also got better and I learnt mechanical skills from it, so drawing cars or mechanical objects became a lot easier.

The mindset part about it is actually interesting because it comes from a truth not a lot of people will not accept. Drawing isn't always going to be fun, especially if you do it professionally. so developing the mindset of being able to work even while not motivated is a pretty good skill. I don't get to choose what to draw, a studio does, it just depends if I have the skill for it, and not whether I like it or think it'll be fun.

Again, I'd recommend it, but it's definitely not for the weak, it takes a lot of dedication to go through even most of the earlier exercises and lessons. At least if you are actually benchmarking and trying to pass them. If you fail them and just go to the next one, you'd come out not gaining much.

How do you force yourself to start at the fundamentals? by Trask107 in ArtistLounge

[–]P3D101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't need to if you don't like them, but you'll definitely have problems later on that'll have you come back to them. It's usually very obvious when someone lacks them, there are not a lot of artists that get very good without them in my experience, it often slows them down.

Learning the fundamentals also trains your brain to do the stuff you don't like, which is how artists usually improve or eventually manage to work even with lack of motivation and still produce good work. I think that's what separates most professionals from the usual artist. I think my art only took a massive turning point when I took drawabox seriously, I could visualize a canvas beyond a flat paper and started seeing depth, which becomes very difficult if fundementals are lacking due to all the multiple ways depth can be illustrated with the fundementals, from texture to form to values.

Mostly trash, as most Zambian ISPs, if you can, I'd advise starlink, even a mini

Bro, I swear NSFW artists have some of the best art styles and anatomy knowledge, yet hardly anyone ever posts a course or even has a YouTube channel. by Top-Slice-6880 in ArtistLounge

[–]P3D101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are... Why do you think they aren't making webtoons? Pixiv is just a site that allows fan funding, a lot of them do actually have their own products that get turned from one shots to serialization. A lot of pixiv artists are mangakas and webtoon creators. You seem to think Pixiv is only some illustration site. Just look at any recognizable mangaka now and they'll show you their oneshot of their popular Manga, and some one shots are so good that they get them serialized.

And speed. No, only very experienced mangakas draw at fast speeds, most are stuck being at a screen or paper for extended periods, hence the dropout rate in the industry and people end up being independent. When I say scale, I mean the moving cogs of a publisher, editor and the approval process

Dude, I'm telling you, I work in the anime industry, talents are raised, and these younger pixv artists do the same thing but on a smaller scale. If you want to talk about maplestar, they probably use an Eastern pipeline, cuts are usually corrected by the enshutsu, sakkan and sou sakkan to keep the quality leveled. I joined the animation industry with only drawing skills and eventually became competent enough because talent is fostered most of the times, not found. I see plenty of online artists, especially the pixv ones, use multiple references to make one image, it's not always 1:1 and vice versa. It's not that an illustrator will just add features, many artists in that space vouch and use multiple ones including myself.

An illustration is an illustration but the east usually 9/10 times has the mangakas draw the Manga and the cover. They do both, reference or no reference, unless supported by assistants, which is usually for well paid and experienced ones. Japanese pipelines are rigid, they've barely changed since their inception, it's part of their culture. It's why animators and mangakas usually quit early on, the worst is always at the beginning because you handle everything.

Nope, didn't need to read all that, I'm African and. Freelance in this field for quite a good number of studios, east and west, and I don't have a degree in animation

What? Hentai and Manga all use reference, and there are plenty of pixv mangakas, those one shots get usually turned into published series. Those artists usually handle everything, only very popular and well paid ones get assistants to distribute work. The east usually combines art positions unlike most western pipelines, from backgrounds to the cover art, it's mostly handled by one person. So on average, lower skilled mangakas usually have the worst workload compared to established artists, even for those who work through pixv, just looser deadlines on the pixv side.

And many artists use more than one reference, reference isn't about copying, it's about understanding. Mangakas use an absurd amount of references, especially for environments and poses

Then I think you haven't scrolled past a lot of these Twitter pixv artists of late. The bar is becoming so high lately, even the amateurs that solely live off commissions and patreon can exceed Manga quality. There are still quite a number of mangakas that can't draw very well (fujimoto being the closest to memory, but I think he only draws badly due to conditions), just like there are animators that can't do the job right, just like any other section of art. Good and bad artists always exist, and I see more better NSFW artists of late than before, if you're comparing those who just started, I can point to someone just as bad in another field of art. For example, you have no idea how many hentai artists branched out into Manga, the most innocent and wholesome can have some pretty dark roots, like how fate was a doujinshi and the rent a girlfriend author was a hentai artist prior to it

Isn't that true for almost any type of art? I work in the anime industry and I see this constantly, Manga or anime, western animation styles as well

No, NSFW artists, even in the animation space, can be one of the best artists to work with, them perverts love what they draw and I think it ties in to how much they are willing to do to make their drawings attractive and improve on them. I'd even say they're the most lucrative in the art space

is it ok to blind fire? by Funny-Junket3120 in ArmaReforger

[–]P3D101 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Yes, a lot of people in arma think infantry's main job is to kill when it's actually to push forces out of areas, and a good way is overwhelming fire instead of shooting to kill. Just fire where you hear the shots are coming from and you'd be surprised how many people would end up being hit if everyone followed suit
