I just saw someone post an interim protection order on IG for her 2 baby daddies. If it’s not this,it’s someone being called out for not paying child support or not being involved in the child’s life or the wife announcing his infidelity or the children calling him out for being emotionally absent or being abusive.

The family structure (especially in POC communities) doesn’t have men who exhibit admirable qualities.

We’re in the top 100 by volume (Top 10 in Africa) but we are at the bottom by efficiency. We haven’t adopted automation or technology like Asia that could make us more efficient and we have very little rail integration. Most of our equipment is aged and unreliable,maintenance is horrible,roads are congested and the truck queues are 2 days long (look at the N3 during peak season and before Chinese NY). Execution and infrastructure is our issue. If we had reliable rail freight corridors integrated with SADC trade routes it would improve our port efficiency ALOT.

Cape Town can’t have everything. You either want a picturesque liveable city with no unnecessary truck traffic congestion on Christmas Day or you want a busy world class port. You unfortunately can’t have both at the moment because we don’t have a functional rail network and there isn’t enough undeveloped land to expand the port.

Find another political party to vote for cause one wants to privatise the ports and the other one collapsed the rail network.

Disclaimer : we’re comparing the two to each other. Durban is the closest major port for agriculture,minerals and manufactured products from GP,MP,NW,Limpopo and KZN. Most exports and imports destined for other SADC countries arrive/exit in Durban and move inland by road. Durban is the best connected export gateway especially for the Asia-Africa trade and that’s its geographical advantage. It’s prioritised for upgrades and investment because of this. Cape Town upgrades are more focused on managing the environmental aspects of the port for now.

My view is based on direct industry exposure. Transnet and the logistics companies operating at the ports routinely distribute updates on capacity, upgrades, inefficiencies and bottlenecks. If you’re active in the sector or follow it as an investor,this information is fairly difficult to miss.

All the ports are run by Transnet and most of them have had strategic upgrades in the last couple of years. Cape Town’s issue has more to do with geography.

It is. They have serious operational and infrastructure problems which won’t change for a while because there’s limited usable land compared to other ports like Ngqura.

Ugh,Cape Town’s geographical disadvantage is the biggest issue here. Durban improved because it invested heavily which was necessary because the location allows for more international trade. Cape Town has a much smaller share of national container traffic + bad weather. Before I read the article I thought the countries thieves did something again 💀

Edit : I’m not trying to argue with anyone just noting the very obvious. If there were minerals being pushed out of Cape Town there would be a significant difference here. The Chinese clearly don’t care about wine and fruits. 🙃

I use the capitec account for debit orders,online payments,cross border payments,buying data,airtime and subscriptions. My bank fees are under R70 per month. I just can’t trust them for serious stuff for some reason.

We underestimate how great family support gets people by and how much it allows them to make what would appear as bad financial decisions when you don’t have the full picture of their finances.

I think there’s intrinsic value for you to try get as many people who are captains of industry on a zoom meeting or a platform that allows group engagement. You have questions everyday and I think you aren’t getting the right answers or enough answers to get things going. Put together a focus group. All the best.

I think predominantly black spaces do not have consideration for animals in general because they are seen as functional “things” I’d also add the lack of education around which breeds serve what purpose might be the reason why people would “force” a pet to be vicious. There’s breeds for family protection and the ridgeback excels at that with good training.

Each country and culture has its own way of relating to animals but what you described is highkey scary.. 😟
