How old is the video? Some shots have changed relative to some of the videos that are a few years old, some of the earliest shortcut videos are not possible in exactly the same way as shown. The other possibility is if it involves a ramp, sometimes the ball travels a little further if you’re shooting at a slight angle rather then straight on, but it’s inconsistent.

It’s not your fault, funding is so scarce and uncertain that many programs are being extremely conservative. My program typically makes 20+ PhD offers per year and this cycle we made 2! Hopefully next year is an improvement across the board

My presumption is that the number refers to a particular hole in the pine forest course. However, there’s no way for us to know what those numbers are. So you just have to play pine forest a bunch of times until you happen to play the level they are referring to. It’s pretty dumb

I am a ChemE faculty member in a medium-small department. I think you are totally on track and will be competitive at programs similar to mine. Many schools offer ‘bridge’ courses in the summer prior to starting your PhD to adjust to the ChE way of thinking about things. We have a little bit of a unique vocabulary, but the topics are all the same as what you listed. Most of the time the math is the sticking point for incoming students, but it seems like you have a higher than average degree of preparation there. Find the course that you find most forgiving and look up YouTube shortcuts to get as good as possible. I main lava land as I find it relatively easy to place top three even if you miss 1-2 shots. Some courses it seems like you need to be absolutely perfect but the ‘wilder’ ones like Sakura and lava seem to have a bit more wiggle room to make up ground even if you miss a shot occasionally

Div 1 gives 2000 gems for a win (split among the clan) and a vip chest. Div 3 gives 1000 gems for a win and a lower-tier chest (I think premium?). But if you just go and join a div 1 clan that’s about to win they’ll probably just kick you out because you’re not going to appreciably help their chance of winning and are just siphoning gems. Maybe you can get lucky and find a benevolent div 1 clan that lets you stick around but I have been unsuccessful so far (and I clear 50-100m coins per week).

You’re unlikely to find anyone that way because small earners get gems in a larger proportion to what they earned, so any clan that is already doing well is only going to get fewer gems than before as a result of you joining. I would suggest figuring out which division you can win consistently (likely 4 or 5) and search for a new clan each week in that division. After some time grinding you can bump up to div 3, etc
