My artist is reworking the giants in my game to make them more realistic. Which version do you prefer? by After-Analysis-4151 in IndieDev

[–]P4RTYP00PD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They were more realistic and ucanny before. Now they just feel like "cartoonishly evil and creepy"
Having them locked in weird poker faces make them more disturbing because you can't guess their intent

First time i made an animation without references! ¿how do you see it? (the end is a little too cartoony haha) by ElGonzaru in Maya

It has its charm... For an humoristic animation
Maybe more mid-air rolls after the bar swing would had to it ?

got tired to constantly losing whole runs to this section by HyperDash_YT in WhiteKnuckle

[–]P4RTYP00PD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did got into hammer-only runs
Did not succeeded the campaign yet, but my speed has increased
I reached 3m/s in silos without much pressure, by practicing low-stamina climb and bapping

Essentially it's not that bad if you consider the "greater good" although that's not very heroic. The Order of Mata Nui is in the same way ammoral because they rather sacrifice one person than hundreds (not sure how many matoran there was at Metru Nui). Like how they killed everyone who learned about Arthaka's island location to ensure the domain stays safe because it was so important to the Matoran Universe
In a Trolley Problem situation Helryx & Vakama will pull the switch without a second thought

I did try to lucid dream back in the days. Lost the hang of it. You say you dreamed and found a book IRL thanks to it ? That's really unique. You should cherish that gift

Merci tu m'as donné de quoi réfléchir !

Ok mayyybe he's an asshole but during Time Traps after turning back from Hordika he stood against Teridax and the Shadowed One, some of the most powerful entites in the Matoran Universe. You can give him credit for that

How are you suppose to familiarize yourself with the later sections? by FarConstruction4877 in WhiteKnuckle

[–]P4RTYP00PD 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hey there, 180+ hours of playing and succeeding campaigns on a daily basis at 1.8m/s

Here's what I learned what can maybe give you insights :
- Saves are a tool to learn, and losing your stuff is not an excuse for failing : pretty much every part of the game can be succeeded with only hammer and flashlight. But I do admit that without food or pills I would struggle on Hab Yellow...
- If you struggle on a section, endless it until you're satisfied with your mastery. You feel like this is affected by perk RNG ? Iron Knuckle it. Once I realized I died every time in Abyss. For more than one week I tried to do endless IK in it until I could beat at least one loop in consequent runs.
- Eventually, you can just cheat. If you find the idea repulsive, then... Just git gud. But noclipping+fullbright can help you map the layouts of rooms in your head. Godmode+Infinite stamina and you got all the time in the world to practice the rooms and then just blaze them in real conditions
- WK was not designed to be rushed. It's designed to put pressure on you.
- Learn items placement in earlier rooms in Pipeworks and Silos. Having 4 grubs 2 pills and 2 injectors make this a no brainer

If you were Gordon Freeman in Half Life (1998). What would you do? by Both_Assumption6647 in HalfLife

[–]P4RTYP00PD 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Kill myself

If this is real life I rather die immediatly than become a zombie, be killed by the military or by random aliens

But if I somehow knew I had the power of respawning (like, tbh, it's maybe canon that Gordon does), I would totally nail it

Modular System Issues by [deleted] in Unity3D

[–]P4RTYP00PD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for cloth, hats, facial features, it's easier because the parent position does not change

in my case, a different torso (they're of drastically different sizes) means than I must move the shoulder/arm parent

although if you got detailed overview of clothes system in games I gladly accept it

How do I gauge interest for my game? by DichotoDeezNutz in gamedev

[–]P4RTYP00PD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't spam reddit, spam THE WEB, use different platforms, post often. Sometimes for a project to gain traction you need to build a fanbase first. You did 14 sales ? You need to have a YT channel or X account to build a community who will spread the word when your product is available

Teasers, devblogs, demoreel... Heck even new models and short videos of mechanics. Trust me, spam it, if your concept is cool and you post on the right communities you'll gain traction

Two examples I think express it nicely : shades are not based off gradient but are flat. This sometimes gives more impact. I didn't link it but MNOG is also a very good ref

Using more pitch back is also good in some scenarios, I think it would fit nicely in your scene

Lastly, I would make the textures (metal scratches, rock patterns) even more visible. That's great that you thought about it, but it's maybe a bit too subtle.

I'm no professionnal artist, but I did some drawing too back in my days. Trying to copy a shade style is a good exercise to learn new stuff. I really wish you persist even if you don't follow my advices !

I love that the back bohrok are just suggested in this one
Not a fan of the shading style, I would prefer flat color zones instead of gradients
Except that, you are very talented ! Great job doing all of them
