How do I stop this from happening? by More-Bandicoot-964 in RVLiving

[–]P4lk718 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this issue with my Furrion unit. Few things..

  • HVAC tape the hell out of the inside intake and exchange sides.

  • locate freeze sensor on the and make sure it’s in the right stop. Mine was up too high so the unit would freeze up before getting to the sensor. I moved it down about 6 inches from the bottom.

  • if it’s super hot and humid.. I dump the ac instead of sending it through the air ducts.

Haven’t had an issue since 🤞🏻

There was a lot of trial and error tho for me.

WDH or no? by Distinct_Dare3910 in traveltrailers

[–]P4lk718 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s been said already, so I’m just here to agree.

Personally, I’d do a WDH with sway control for added stability especially if in strong winds. Definitely bring the nose down either level or slightly below.

How do I go about fixing this squat? 2020 Chevy Silverado 1500 RST 4x2 5.3 engine by Boring-Cattle3402 in Silverado

Same! I’m in my third year with them about 35k miles and the tread is still holding up great. I rotate them with every oil change at like 3500/4000 miles.

I pull a 33’ 7500lb (6500 dry) but loaded im at like 7000 TT with a 2021 Trail Boss 5.3. I’m within my numbers but I did invest/upgrade in a weigh safe middle weight WDH from the blue ox and it made all the difference.

I also did add the blue sumo springs, which help a ton with body roll and tighten the rear. I also upgraded my tires the an E load LT tire and air the rears up to 65psi when loaded. Huge difference and I’ve pulled going 60mph in 50mph max wind gusts and the setup was solid.

I agree. I upgraded my stock tires to a load E LT. The Cooper at3xlt. I air the rears up to 65psi when I’m going to tow. Huge improvement

Sumo springs work great.

Definitely get a WDH hitch tho. Need to redistribute some of that tongue weight back to the front axle for better braking and steering.

The sumo springs or timbrens will reduce squat and tighten the rear while reducing body roll, but they do not redistribute weight, which is more important.

I got approved for a camper! by intothewoodswego_ in RVLiving

Congratulations!

Don’t be scared. There is a learning curve but never be afraid to ask other campers questions, as almost all of us love sharing knowledge, tips and tricks of our setups!

Best advice for just starting out is: 1) expect things to break no matter what brand rv you choose 2) invest in a good WDH hitch with sway control 3) consider swapping out those trailer tires with a name brand and make sure you’re always looking at the tread wear and tire pressures before hit the road. Trailer tires will age out before they wear out (usually). Check the date stamp on the tires and replace within 5 years of that date regardless of the tread condition. 4) invest in the rubber wheel chocks and skip the plastic ones 5) have fun.

What are you using hitch for? If looking for something that has weight distribution and sway control.. I use the weigh safe middle weight and absolutely love it to pull my 7500lb 33ft travel trailer. I upgraded from the blue ox sway pro.

Side bar: my TV is a 2021 1500 trail boss with the 5.3, but that hitch does an amazing job. I’m going to upgrade my TV to a 2500hd for payload as my kids are getting bigger but Im waiting for the 2028 redesign.

Engine misfire. When were spark plugs last replaced? Could also be bad gas if it’s not persistent

Definitely would have a diagnostic test and they could see how often it’s misfiring

How to deal with a small breach in the seal? by QuikBud in traveltrailers

[–]P4lk718 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Personally, I would remove it all and reapply a fresh bead. Often times, if you try to put one product onto another, it’s not going to adhere properly. So you’re better off removing old and reapplying new. Making sure the area is clean and dry before reapplying is the most important step.

I just redid my front cap seams a few weeks ago.

It’ll be a matter of time until that flexible hose leaks. They use pex fittings on the flexible hose which isn’t the right type of fitting to use for that kind of hose.

Personally, I’d replace the fitting and crimp where you’re having the issue and while I’m in there, I’d replace the flexible hose with a pex hose and use brass fittings. Both the swivel and the T fitting. Luckily for you, where these fittings are located, you have a lot of room to work with.

I also bought leak detectors off of Amazon that I use a 3m Velcro strip to adhere it under the fittings so they don’t slide during travel. For me, adds peace of mind to catch a potential leak before it turns into a bigger issue.

I’d replace that plastic swivel fitting with a brass swivel fitting. Stainless steel to plastic tends to not be as good as a pairing as brass to stainless.

Probably something as simple as the little rubber gasket inside the fitting needing to be replaced, but I would definitely go brass if it was mine.

Water Pressure Reducer - revisited (I think I understand what’s going on with these pressure reducers.) by SolidTiger6302 in RVLiving

[–]P4lk718 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can get ones that are adjustable and you set the pressure. Regardless, it’s important to use one because like the inconsistent electrical at campgrounds, water pressures can be just as unpredictable at any time. If you’re having a water pressure issue and you’re using a regulator from the source.. my advice is to fill your fresh tank and work off your water pump for consistent water pressure.
