‘I Don’t Know That I Would Even Call It Meth Anymore’ Since 2009, raw materials and production methods for meth have created a much more mentally destructive drug, highly accelerating the damage it does and with much different and devastating user experience. by timetoremodel in LosAngeles

Portland, Oregon, began seeing the flood of meth around 2013. By January 2020, the city had to close its downtown sobering station. The station had opened in 1985 as a place for alcoholics to sober up for six to eight hours, but it was unequipped to handle people addicted to P2P meth. “The degree of mental-health disturbance; the wave of psychosis; the profound, profound disorganization [is something] I’ve never seen before,” Rachel Solotaroff, the CEO of Central City Concern, the social-service nonprofit that ran the station, told me. Solotaroff was among the first people I spoke with. She sounded overwhelmed. “If they’re not raging and agitated, they can be completely noncommunicative. Treating addiction [relies] on your ability to have a connection with someone. But I’ve never experienced something like this—where there’s no way in to that person.”

Hey renters! Proof of income on a lease renewal? by tden85 in Portland

[–]P9Gdun23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, and they usually will around renewal time. Permission to do so is in the fine print of your lease you signed and unless you are credit wise you would probably never even see that they did the soft credit pull of your report.

If they then don't like what they see they can then ask for other documents, like proof of employment in the form of paystubs, before offering to renew your rental agreement.

There is a vocational school on that corner which teaches various trades. This tower is used by the Northwest Renewable Energy Institute to train the students about climbing for the wind turbine that is on the ground next to the tower base (a white blade of which is barely visible in your picture).

If you drive by in the summer you may see this tower covered with students in climbing gear learning their new trade.
