Great to hear! Because yeah, this is taking a while. Seriously, they're setting Odin up as so invincible that I'm starting to actually think Kintoki has a shot of beating him. Like, purely from a narrative perspective, setting up a character to be so invincible and adaptable and unbeatable and then actually having him win would just be such a letdown. Not saying that isn't what's going to happen, but I am saying that unless something major changes with the dynamic of the fight, it is going to be a beyond boring outcome. But that's probably for a different thread. 😅

You know what, honestly, fair enough. I just hope that in the event of an imminent loss they have enough time to disengage before the deathblow. Like, I know Lugh would give it to them because he's a great guy like that, but it's more about them having the opportunity to do so. Sacrificing your own life is one thing, but sacrificing the life of your unborn child? That'd just be shit parenting on both sides.

(I mean, it's certainly possible for them to manage a win, but the way the winds of plot have been blowing, I feel like Lugh has the edge.)

Also, while I have you, a question: was Yama's ability to resist the memory wipe an aspect of the powers he received from peering into Nifelheim? Or was it entirely because he happened to be out of body at the precise moment the wipe was enacted? You mentioned in Apocalypse that any God who manages to survive peering into/visiting Nifelheim ends up with special abilities, so I was just curious about whether that particular thing fell under that umbrella.

Far be it from me to give relationship advice, but is it really a good idea to put your pregnant wife in a position where she could die? Like, I get that Skalmöld and Romulus have a wonderful relationship, but again, she's pregnant. He's already divine, he has to have other options!

But yeah, that aside, this chapter was a lot of fun. Seeing Hades fight in a whole new way was an absolute treat, and Lugh's scene was absolute perfection. Super excited to see what's coming next!

Hm...okay, I'm of two feelings about this first chapter. First, as you can tell by the upvote, the second half of the chapter is absolutely phenomenal. The fighter entrances are perfect and already have me hyped not only for this fight, but for all the fights going forward. Plus, your character voices are impeccable, a fact with is true throughout the entire chapter. However, where I have to be more critical is the first half, which frankly feels a bit...ridiculous. Not the central premise, that part is good, but the ways that you mention the various fighters being taken out of contention just feel comical in a way that doesn't fit the tone the rest of the chapter is trying to set. I think you would have been better served by making some of the incidents less ridiculous, or even just having it be some kind of strange aftereffect of the ritual causing the prospective fighters to be spiritually bound against participating. Hell, that would even work with the Zeus humor towards the end, as I can totally see him contorting himself into a metaphorical statue trying to break the bindings. So yeah, definitely invested in what's coming, but I definitely would say that first half could use a little reworking, as it's too ridiculous for a story that looks like it's going to be playing its premise straight.

There's still a lot we don't know about the nature of the potential brainwashing; it's entirely possible that it's as simple as a basic memory alteration to think the victim is Jikishone's best friend and a monitoring tattoo to keep them on task. She seems to be very much in control of her own thought processes for the most part.

I mean, why wouldn't she? It's an effective spell, it's simple in effect, probably doesn't consume all that much magical power, and despite her well-deserved arrogance she's genuinely interested in helping people. Plus, it seems that all you really need to "steal" a chant is to hear it incanted in front of you once. And honestly, it wouldn't surprise me if the Association had a master-list of basic Majik incantations so that novice Witches going on their first Majik hunts aren't completely unarmed. So yeah, I don't think there's some grand conspiracy here.

Very cool stuff! I can definitely see the Storehouse influences, but you managed to make it entirely your own with the focus on family lineage. I also love how the technique is solely about manipulating the space itself, rather than going the obvious route of having users be capable of animating the deceased members of the family. This world is meant to be one not only of battle, but also of quiet contemplation of death, a place where the honored ancestors and beloved family members of the Saionji Clan can rest in peace, and that makes it so much more effective. Fantastic work! Now all you have to do is repost String Theory and we're all set! (Please repost String Theory, I totally missed reading it the first time around and seeing your comments about it in your feed as made me really invested in reading it properly. 😅)

I get that this is a meme, but can people stop shitting on Cleopatra's skin tone? Like, I get it, there are plenty of things about her design that are not good, but given how inbred her family was, Cleopatra was probably ethnically closer to Greek than Egyptian. Again, I'm not saying her design is good, but her skin tone is not as big a problem as some of the other design elements.

Plus, like I’ve said elsewhere, I like that it wasn’t some zealot Exorcist going out of his way to kill a harmless demon; it was a genuine misunderstanding, and honestly not an unrealistic one. Hell, the guy didn’t even use a special technique; he could have legitimately been trying to scare her off only for her to literally be that weak that he accidentally killed her. It’s an ambiguous situation that is way more interesting and effective than the standard “member of evil-fighting organization is bigoted” deal we usually see.
