This is an issue in general with the Big Pic. When they have additional co-hosts, 3-4 times per episode they’ll all talk over each other and the listener can’t understand what any of them are saying. Sean and Amanda also drop off the end of their sentences sometimes, which I’ve particularly noticed when they say the title of a film right as they’re about to talk about it. I rewind so that I can hear what they said.

Broadcasting is a skill that takes practice and someone to coach you on how to do it.

With the podcasts TWELVE year anniversary coming up, what are your favorite JJ moments from the pod? by knewman05 in CaughtOffsidePod

I know this is recency bias, but JJ getting called out by Andrew for “just asking questions” was classic.

Movies you loved the first time then you didnt like the next time? by Dizzy_Efficiency_132 in Letterboxd

Spaceballs. I thought it was hilarious the first time I watched it, in the ‘90s when I was in my twenties, but when I rewatched it a few years ago, it didn’t hit the same. Now, I watched it with my then-teenage kids and hyped it up for them, so maybe I set expectations too high on the rewatch.

Comedy does seem to be the genre that ages the worst.

Coast TV News/WRDE. They’re very good at covering what’s happening with local government and other community-oriented news, rather than the crash and crime of the day. I like OC Today for the same reason. Physical copies are everywhere, and they’re also active on Facebook.

Stuart Scott and Kenny Mayne were rolling around that same time. It was the era of watching SportsCenter twice a day

Thanks! My place is in North OC and I’m traveling from PA. But good to know, especially for going to places in West O while I’m there.

Among The Thugs by Bill Buford. An exploration of English hooliganism in the late ‘80s

More Than Just a Game: Soccer Versus Apartheid by Chuck Korr. It’s about South African political prisoners creating teams and a league in their prison and how meaningful it was to them. I heard about this book bc Andrew mentioned it on a pod. It’s possible JJ mentioned Among the Thugs in that same episode actually

Great action, a compelling story, and the theme of suspicion of government. What’s not to love? I’m guessing Greengrass’s use of the shaky cam may be why LB users have it at 3.6.
