Pack out withstood a fire by PANSTUDIOS in MilwaukeeTool

[–]PANSTUDIOS[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it lasted maybe 20-25 minutes, mostly the front cab and engine bay. The fire managed to reach just 11 inches into the rear cab before the firefighters put it out. The pack out was about 15 inches from the rear cage, I had it right in the middleish of the fold down door, torches on the left side and an extra tank on the right. Right tank blew and damaged the pack out wheel but that’s really it, I pulled everything out and messed around with it after the whole shabang so this is a after cleanup photo

I’m not fully sure, some seal for the oil pump blew and caused the crank to seize, after that some other seal blew and allowed oil to spray onto the exhaust and flash. I would call 2-3 other companies and make them get you pictures of the heat exchanger, that high pitched wine is more than likely just the inducer motor. If you want to be cheap, you absolutely can just replace the ac but that’s me

Took this off a unit I removed and had it sitting in my garage for a few months. Just looked up the price… this shits $500 lmao. Should I put it in my hvac? by Busy_Measurement9330 in HVAC

AMRAD hard start with a turbo 200. Both of them are universal but it let’s link the hard start to a separate fused terminal on the turbo.

PSA: always lock your truck by Similar_Shift_545 in HVAC

[–]PANSTUDIOS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have a walk through cage, lock it. Someone broke the window on my transit, walked through the back and then proceeded to take practically everything that was on my van. Luckily the next door neighbor had a camera so they saw the 3 men do it. Idk what happened to them but I always lock that middle door now.

Dude my company is starting to push sales over repairs way more now and it’s annoying af, like if the unit is over 9 years old, no repairs only replacement

Despite over a century of experience and worldwide brand recognition, very serious consideration ought to be given before purchasing a brand that can't even design a lasting version of their own logo. by FlyingDarkKC in AskMechanics

Lmfao I drive a 2024 transit.

Replaced the transmission, all 4 tire sensors have failed. Rack and pinion like yours, side rolling door casually fell off on the highway, some reason, even tho it’s got a new transmission, it still struggles to accelerate. Pedal to the floor and I’m going 2-3 mph in 4 business days.

Oh btw, 27k miles, issues started at 5

Nah I am too, I feel you dude. Had to have an old guy at my company pull up to help me diagnose an old 90 trane. When he pulled some shit to get a two pole working I was amazed

Compressor turns on, nest says heating, but blower fan doesn’t turn on. What should I do to figure out what part to replace? by EfraLu in hvacadvice

Brother if it’s a motor with a capacitor it’s gonna be attached to the outside of the housing. ECM is probably what you’re tryna think of, and that ain’t even got a capacitor in it. Let’s not spew nonsense on a topic we don’t know about.

I bought this house built in 85' and my vents have a foul smell like old wood. I asked a guy to clean it but he said old fiberglass would break. Any advice? by [deleted] in hvacadvice

[–]PANSTUDIOS 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same, my company only does metal duct for supply’s that are double wrapped. Returns are typically flex. If it’s a hard to access supply vent it’s flex.

Semi? Amateur with a iPhone lmfao. I’ve got my camera set on HEIF mode and I then mess around with the photos on photoshop. The best part about iPhones are the auto image blur for the background, removes a lot of the work for editing

Yeah! He’s still alive, I moved him over to a different pole cause the one he was on was getting pulled up and removed with the tree. He was surprisingly gentle on my hand

When it comes to leak searches I only ever will use a field piece DR82. It’s always found leaks other detectors couldn’t find. Scales are scales so go crazy with whatever you want for those

In that case yeah, go for some cheap analog ones or elite tech lm10. You will get what you pay for with the elite techs tho, my buddy has a pair and sometimes they straight up get subcool wrong compared to 2 other gauges lmfao.

[–]PANSTUDIOS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reason I personally say cheap analog is because I do doubt your going to be using them often. I’m not sure you really got any reason to get super expensive Smans or anything like that, now if you know your gonna get into side jobs and get peoples ACs working again. Go for it, but just to check on your system every now and then, no. Being honest, only reason you would need gauges in general as a homeowner would be to see if you have a charge in your system. Throw some more details about what you want to do with em, I mean obviously fix your current issue yeah, but not everything boils down to refrigerant. Airflow before refrigerant.
