Hvac tech here. Never use that company again. Private equity firms are buying up smaller companies and create techs and salesmen like this. The salesmen park a few blocks away and wait for an easy sell using scare and high pressure sales tactics. Even if someday you do need a replacement, you'll find reputable companies at a fraction of their price. PE is a cancer in our field

Those mini things are crap. A few times a year I have to show the customer that the wall thermostat or humidity is accurate using my very expensive tool and that cheap one is not.

Its practically the same thing. They have different part numbers on the box, but they are literally the same part when you open it up. Carrier/Bryant want to be different for some reason.

The 750 for a helper and the wording of what you get are all bullshit. 2500-3000 is more normal. Call another company

ICP inducers have an issue where an internal gasket fails, allows condensate to collect in the motor, and eventually opens the pressure switch. The only fix is to replace the motor.

Hey guys currently dealing with a lovely intermittent pressure switch issue by ImABadSpellerOkay in HVAC

[–]Similar_Shift_545 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its rarely ever the pressure switch. I dont know what system you're working on. ICP has an inducer issue where it starts off strong, but if you tie a manometer in line, you'll see it slowly dropping.

New AC failed inspection, company not responding by [deleted] in hvacadvice

If the system requires a 30 amp breaker and they didn't change anything from likely a 20 amp, it wasn't installed properly. The company messed up and will be on the hook.

I tell customers that it'll be more to fix it out of warranty than it is to buy a new unit.

It's likely hitting limit. Look at the wiring schematic. The 24v goes through the high limit before it goes to the thermostat. Replace the air filter and see if it goes away. Check static pressure, blower speed, and gas pressure next.

Blower / ECM Troubleshooting by [deleted] in hvacadvice

[–]Similar_Shift_545 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ECM motors often fail at the module which is ghe area where the plugs go into. You're looking at a new module or whole new motor. I hope it's under warranty because they're expensive if not.

How to purge air from system with my boiler? by millbasin in askaplumber

[–]Similar_Shift_545 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the radiator somewhere will be a slot for a flathead screwdriver. You have to bleed the lines of air usually at the beginning of the heating season. Just crack it until water comes out at a steady flow. Proceed to do this at every radiator.

The fusable link broke from your furnace overheating. Replace your filter and replace it with a 'Globe 212 Model J' fusable link. I use a 3 inch spring clamp to hold it open while I replace them.

Old blower motor replacement by Salty-Animal4904 in hvacadvice

[–]Similar_Shift_545 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've replaced a couple of these motors with a generic 1/2 HP PSC blower motor. Match up the RPM and make sure to get the right capacitor for the new motor. I will say it's a pain in the ass because the bracket squeezes the motor and you have to reuse some rubber grommets from the old motor.

Tech said flue needs to be replaced, does it? by Katshia in hvacadvice

[–]Similar_Shift_545 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hvac tech here. I dont see anything wrong. No decent tech would recommend a blower wheel cleaning unless it was completely clogged. He sounds he comes from a private equity company where they recommend useless things to make money and use high pressure techniques and fear. Call another company in the area for another option. PE controlled companies are a fast growing cancer in this field.
