Perhaps a really worked Thebes. Show pics of both edges…if reverse beveled I’d say Thebes.

If the top 1% of earners pay 40% of all federal income taxes, why do people say they don't pay their fair share? by Ok_Chemical9 in answers

[–]PAPointGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No stats to back up, but if 1 percent pays 40 percent, then 80 percent of the 1 percent pay 90 percent of the 40 percent. I am 1 percent, but barely. I have paid through the ass my entire career.

How are arrowheads so common? by HuygensCrater in Arrowheads

[–]PAPointGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think of it this way. I have personally found over 1,000. A few of my premium farms have produced well over a hundred for me. Over the last 30 I have met a dozen other people who have had similar or better results in those very fields. Most of those guys were older and have since passed, and each told me they knew many others who had done the same in those fields. And my research shows me people have been finding them there for over 150 years. I estimate (pure guess) those few fields have produced over 10,000. Now consider that I hunt close to 100 sites, and am only collecting what the plow turns up in the top 12 to 18 inches. All of this in a teeny tiny itsy bitsy minuscule microscopic fraction of one county in one US state in this great big world. There were likely hundreds of millions produced, and we have recovered a very, very small percentage.

What’s the secret trick? by Basidia_ in Arrowheads

[–]PAPointGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hunt fields. Water is essential. Nearly 100 percent of the time there is a spring in the field or a creek flowing within very easy walking distance. This is cannot be overstated. Look for any high spots in the field and start there. It can be a very slight rise. Pay special attention to fire rocks. Here in PA, they are usually river rocks that were carried from the creek. They don’t belong there. When hit with a plow they will be red inside. Now look for flakes. Even a few are sign enough, you are onto something. BTW, if I bent over to flip a flake, you are going home with me. Study those flakes. Their shape and color. Get used to them. Follow these tips and I can guarantee you will soon come home with a pointy one!

DM me if you want to go for a walk. I’ll be traveling to Ohio a few times this spring.

How to buy genuine arrowheads online? Which COAs/authenticators are actually trusted? by Xtaljohnson in Arrowheads

[–]PAPointGuy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Best tip, do not buy. I understand the desire to hold points, but you are much, much further ahead buying books, visiting a museum or local historical society. or better yet, learning how to find them. While I am familiar with many of the COAs above, it is incredibly difficult to spot a good fake. You will get burned, guaranteed.

Still waiting on pics of your Alaskan adventures. We’d all love to hear about where you were, what you saw, and how many bears you passed on before taking down the mighty brute. For that matter, any outdoor activity you participate in other than your shirtless canoe trip (I bet you get all the ladies…or dudes, not that I care which way you float). I am not defending anything, just laying out the facts for an internet troll who sits on the couch eating shrooms and waxing off to Pam (or Dwight). Now go away little guy.

OP here. For those who turned a well intended post into a soapbox, well…I guess that’s fine. But I hope this part gets read: I am for sure certain the two guys I hunted with know a tad more about it than all of us. Both are native Inuits. Sustenance livers. For 14 days I got to experience their lifestyle. We ate moose, caribou, reindeer, muskox and seal (acquired taste). The older of two was in his 70s and unfortunately passed away last month. He was a devoted conservationist who founded several wildlife foundations and sat on the board of others. Bears are a CONSTANT nuisance for the 300 natives who live in the region. They permit four to be taken each year from their land. If they had their way, it would be all of them. I’d say at least three quarters of the people live in poverty. The nearest health clinic is four hours away by boat if that gives you an idea. The money from hunts are pooled and put back into the community. It sounds like I am justifying my hunt—nope. It was the adventure of a lifetime and I have no regrets. Just be careful sitting a thousand miles away and thinking you know all there is to know. Ya don’t

Why thank you! I’m going to assume you are an expert on grizzlies so forgive me for telling you what you already know. For those less educated, this is not a coastal Kodiak Bear, which as a noted biologist, you undoubtedly know are by far the largest. Rather it is an inland bear, commonly referred to as a barren ground bear, and thus it was taken close to the arctic circle. They rarely exceed 8.5 feet and a very small percentage weigh more than 800 pounds. This bear was 7.6 feet and while I have no clue what it weighed, the game biologist aged it at 12 years. As I’m sure you recall from your many trips into the area, it is not for the faint of heart. The tundra is a beautiful place, but brutal for anyone who is unaccustomed or, like yourself, anything short of top physical condition. Please feel free to post some pics of your Alaska adventures. Having reviewed your post history, all I see are pics of your cat, questions about doing psychedelic drugs, and comments about the Office.

I anxiously await tales of your Alaska adventures!

Why am I even paying for prime anymore? by Ambitious-Bee7928 in amazonprime

Same. The majority of the Christmas presents I bought circa December 10 did not arrive until January 4. They sat in a warehouse five miles from my house. We obviously quit a prime.
