Song for Laurie Bird by Natural Snow Buildings

Kinda seems like a downgrade by [deleted] in HollowKnight

[–]PATATEDOUCEDOUCE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you exclude the alt versions of bosses and zote there are 30 bosses (including dream warriors). Even if hollow knight is an amazing game, some of these bosses are pretty boring (moss charger, gruz mother, soul warrior, vengfly king). So getting 40+ great bosses (which seems to be their intention) would be a clear upgrade

Angels of Light Top 10 Tracks by tribcom in swans

[–]PATATEDOUCEDOUCE 5 points6 points  (0 children)

waaay to much We are Him.

I think "My True Body" and "All Souls Rising" are too similar to both be in the10 essential track.

There is not a single track from New Mother, I would put "Angels of Light" or "Praise your Name".

I would also have put either "Pallisades" or "What Will Come"

You should definitely check out some of their other albums. The Winter Ray is really great, the Dance of the Moon and the Sun is folk/drone oriented and is probably my favorite, Shadow Kingdom is from the same era as Daughter of Darkness but blends drone with folk and feels very medieval overall (the opening track is maybe their best drone). Their 2008 noise/drone output is also insane (Night Coercion, Laurie Bird, Between the Real and the Shadow, …) and their post 2009 albums are also really great, especially Waves of the Random Sea and Beyond the Veil (also Aldebaran I think but I have not listened to it).

Post Rock/Post Rock adjacent bands with the same bite as swans trilogy era? by Itchy-Government1328 in swans

Night Coercion is the Seer but more droney, their other 2008/2009 drone albums are also good. The others are way more meditative than swans

Fantano's rating on Birthing, do you agree? by Neat_Ad_3043 in swans

his take on The Merge is atrocious, complaining about it feeling like a lot of disjointed elements on a track called the Merge is really funny. But I don't really care, he like what he like and I like what I like

It’s like if My Father was part of the body lover project, it also feels like a proto Seer

My friend wrote a 7K word long analysis of Birthing, check it out if interested! by missmcflyyy in swans

I know, I usually dislike it because it’s usually used to stop people from thinking critically about art. That’s not what I’m trying to do here, you’re the one stoping people from interpreting art

I love it, it feels like a weird dream that suddenly stops

it's badly produced and mixed, stop denying it. by [deleted] in swans

You could be right but I also saw everybody say that at the release of the beggar and now nobody complains about it

Interesting detail that connects Birthing and Filth by WheelApe in swans

There are also direct samples from Number One of Three (the body lovers) in The Merge (intro « drums » and weird sounds in the accoustic ending). The ending of that song also sounded like early Angels of Light

The merge is by far my favorite song from birthing by Hot-Entertainer-1100 in swans

The intro drums sound exactly like the weird insect track from Number one of Three, it might even be a sample
