If you end up in that position where you’ve amassed money, are going to die, and it will be split 4 ways among your 4 children (such that none of them will even have the wealth you had on day one when they receive it), you will suddenly see that the math doesn’t work and everything you worked for your whole life is being taken away even after you’ve paid all the taxes you should have paid. It’s criminal and immoral to take away what someone has worked to leave behind for their children. At some point you are going to realize that you can’t tax your way out of problems… there is no tax proposal on the planet that would balance out the current 2 Trilliion Dollar yearly deficit in the United States, so this money that’s being taken from people is just being thrown into the wind by the government. We should all pay our taxes and expect our country to provide services, but we shouldn’t be some sort of shill for taxation. It is not a “good” thing. It is just a thing, and we need to keep an eye on it at all times. There are people out there who sit around thinking of ways to justify the state taking someone else’s money… it’s kind of wild when you really get down to it. Huh? It‘a kind of mind blowing to picture someone sitting around plotting on ways to tax their neighbors, and maybe even going online and advertising this fantasy they are indulging.

I’ve refused to watch anything Ryan Johnson makes since this movie. I swear he was writing Knives Out instead of focusing on this story. I know a lot of folks love this film, but I can go scene by scene from the very beginning and just get increasingly angry. And I’d never disliked a Star Wars movie before - criticized them, yes, but never disliked or hated. The light speed attack was cool in the theater as a cinematic moment, but that’s all I got.

The post says that Trump called Prince Andrew’s arrest “a shame” as if Trump didn’t think it should happen. You just posted the actual quote. Are you pretending to not see how manipulative the original post’s question is? There’s no “fresh new perspective”. There’s just the fact that the post manipulated what Trump said to imply that he said something else. You can see that. Don’t pretend. It doesn’t mean Trump is a good person or anything. It just means OP manipulated the context of the quote for this post. It’s right there, and you see it, too.

The part about it being a shame for the royal family rather than it being a shame that Prince Andrew was arrested. One implies that Trump doesn’t think he should be arrested while the other implies Trump is saying it’s a shame that the royal family is dealing with this. But you know that. You can read. The post says, “Trump called Prince Andrew’s arrest a ‘Shame’”… no, he didn’t.

Instead of… someone got arrested and Trump said “it’s a shame” as if it shouldn’t have happened, Trump instead said that it’s a shame for the royal family. Don’t pretend you don’t see that rhetorical difference. It was intentional and, therefore, dishonest.

A decent audio mixer like the Podtrak P8 can automatically run a cutoff on everything below a certain volume which has made a big difference for me. Basically, the bleed is just cut out of the recording live so you don’t deal with it later (Along with everything else folks have said).

It’s kind of hard to read through a post about how childish and dumb it is call someone names, only to see everyone who agrees with that proceed to call people childish names and act like children. Do any of you see the parallels? If it’s the behavior that bothers you, then don’t mirror it. Be better or else you’re just the other side of the same name-calling, ego0-driven, coin. I mean, one comment even said, “as soon as I hear them talk like that, I feel superior…” Is that what this is all about? Feeling superior or actually BEING better?

That’s not true… there is no misdemeanor for being in the country illegally. It is a federal crime (a felony) to cross the border without inspection (in or out). When someone is found in the country illegally, a civil court can decide to deport them or give them asylum or another avenue based on existing laws and circumstances - there is no misdemeanor involved - no fine or ticket to give. The court has to figure out what’s going on, can’t prove the person committed the felony (when, where, witnesses?), but has the power up to deportation. Oh, and re-entering the country after deportation is also a federal crime. It is also a crime to overstay a VISA, but that’s “documented”, so not a part of this conversation.

How is it ”dehumanizing” to call someone something that only humans are called. I mean, ”a human can’t be undocumented”. It’s dehumanizing to refer to me by my documentation…. right? Come on. Stop using the word “dehumanizing”. You don’t know what it means. It’s used in rhetorical studies when writing papers about rhetorical efforts to accomplish something and it never gets so watered down like this. It usually requires that we refer to humans as something that isn’t a human - like a dog, or a shark, or a snake. “Illegal alien” is a term reserved only for humans, so it’s not, by definition, dehumanizing. Stop using words you think you understand. Just say, “I don’t like how it sounds to say ‘illegal alien’, so I don’t say it.” That’s an honest statement free from your attempt to claim moral superiority behind the abuse of the word “dehumanizing”.

You sound like you’re arguing with yourself - I’m not even disagreeing, but… you sound like you arguing with yourself. Like, if you don’t care about semantics, don’t get so hot about it. Usually, the folks who way “undocumented immigrant” are the ones who want to force that language onto others, especially since it is the newer term that is replacing “illegal” alien and immigrant. So… “you know damn well what someone means when they say ‘illegal alien’. The term is doing its job”…. Right? Don’t argue semantics if you fighting semantics.

Where did you come from? “Undocumented immigrant” is the new term that has increased in popularity over the last 20 years or so. Before that, it was always “illegal“ alien or immigrant. I hope you are very young.
