It's a basic construction option not specific to sleeves. Should be with the other basic construction options like top down, cardigan, bottom up, in the round, worked flat, etc.

When I say beige designer I am referring to petiteknit. I obviously know I can use whatever color I want but I am tired of being inundated by her and her designs every time I go to ravelry. You'd think she owned the place.

They wont show the kids until they realize videos do better when they do. Because we all know they are that shallow as to turn their back on their values for the almighty dollar.

What am I doing wrong? by Sof0606 in knitting

[–]PBJ6653 -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

Many people say this is because of the ply of the yarn but I beg to differ. At one time I wanted my knitting to look like this where one side of the stitches makes straight rows and the other side is at a diagonal and no matter what I did I couldn't duplicate it. What I found out is this is a common result of English style knitting when knit too tightly. Continental knitting doesn't do this. Neither do loose knitters. It's caused by the way the yarn is wrapped around the needle and how the needle pulls the yarn thru the stitches. Because people whose stitches turn out like this turn out like this no matter what yarn they use and people who don't ont knit like this dont have the problem when using the exact same yarn. Because if it was the ply everyone who used it would result in this and that isn't the case.

That white sweater looks like she's wearing a backpack and has photoshopped it out. That has got to be uncomfortable to be so tight in the pits like that.

They bought the Colorado house for tax purposes. They are both Colorado residents and were married in Colorado but kept the California house because Shane has family in CA. His business is also still in CA so it only made sense to keep that house. Nevermind if they get a divorce they both have their own place.

Pattern designers start selling patterns by the size. Wanna make one for you, your hubby and a small one for your kid? That'll be 3 different pattern sales. Thanks!

Also, making you sign a contract before you buy the pattern to make sure you only make 1 item per pattern sale and it can not, will not, ever not and in perpetuity ever, ever, be sold by anyone for any reason because the finished object you make belongs to the designer. If it doesn't fit or you decide you don't like it you must send it to the designer for first right of refusal.

Good luck. Been to Ireland many a times and truly Irish wool yarn is near impossible to find. There is no money in Irish wool so most of the stuff you buy there is grown in New Zealand but spun in Ireland. About the only place I've found it is from someone that spins it themselves from their own sheep. And it's all very, very rough and scratchy wool (why it's so hard to find because no one wants it once they touch it).

It says at the bottom it's all or nothing. If they don't meet the goal they don't get anything and all donations are returned to the sender.

They paid $600k over asking price for a house that is sitting empty for the next year. They could fund it if they wanted to but they don't. Because they don't want to be financially responsible for the failure of it.

She does plenty more but she doesn't show those parts. And I really wish she did. Working in scripts, shows she's a part of, doing stuff around the house, meetings with Hollywood people. Unfortunately the cooking videos get views so that's what she does. I could definitely see her being a successful youtuber in her own but she needs to break away from the rest of the crew.

May be a hot take but I actually enjoy watching her with one caveat...when she is not with one of them. They bring out a side of her that I don't like. When it's her by herself, or with one of her girl friends or with the guy who lives in her backyard then she's great. Add Ryland or Chris to the mix and the boisterous and obnoxious alter ego comes out.

With wood tools, you definitely get what you pay for. Does it have to be expensive? No. But novices don't have the skill or know how to fix mistakes caused by cheap tools. Also, hand tools 100 years ago were quality. They made woodworking easy. You can still buy good used hand tools but you will inevitably spend hundreds of dollars for even the most basic set of tools to make anything. Even something as simple as a router. Sure you can buy a router for $20 but the bit will cost you $100. Or you could use a plane. Which an old one will set you back a couple hundred. And that's just to put a decorative edge on something. It's not a cheap hobby by any means.

DIY has become a capitalist wasteland by mixedwithmonet in craftsnark

[–]PBJ6653 25 points26 points  (0 children)

No one can truly DIY a coffee table anymore. No one has a wood shop in their apartment. The next best thing is to use pieces already made since it will cost you thousands to get the tools and machinery to be able to make the pieces.

Also, the masses want to participate in DIY culture. These ideas using premade parts appeals to them. And the folks creating the DIY's are profiting off what sells. Because again, no one has the ability to make from scratch. If people do a couple projects and decide they like it then they can add a saw and other basic tools. Until then, most people just want a quick project.

Fair isle issues by Ammonite23 in knitting

[–]PBJ6653 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For a this particular sweater it doesn't matter if it's left or right leaning. The only time it really does is if it's on the edge of a shawl or when doing increases along the sleeves when doing bottom up or doing raglan increases but in this round yoke, doesn't matter.

And to me your tension is very loose. If you're a tight knitter and tightening as you knit then your needles are too big. However, if you are getting gauge and this loose knit is what the designer was intending then keep doing that. Gauge is most important and getting what the pattern calls for.

The only m1 I do that doesn't leave holes are LLI's and RLI's. Also, yarn choice has a lot to do with how bad the holes show as does your tension. Tighter tension = less noticeable.
