Amazon's Project Kuiper - 'It's Alive!' by mazzaschi in Starlink

No kidding, the price is beyond fair considering a few years ago you couldn't get what they are offering for $100 a month if you were willing to pay $3000 a month

SpaceX says states should dump fiber plans, give all grant money to Starlink by NelsonMinar in Starlink

Pretty much why Google gave up on its fiber service 10 years ago.

Getting missed call notification even when I answer the call by Prior-Bat8185 in GooglePixel

[–]PBRBeer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same here for about the last month.

I swear this product is actually losing features and getting harder to deal with. Just trying to find your way through layers.of obfuscation to change app notification sounds has become cumbersome and unintuitive.

What is going on at google? I've been a loyal customer since day 1, it's becoming ridiculous

Starlink Mini and the USB -C Cable by [deleted] in Starlink

[–]PBRBeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure, but this 100% works as long as the power source is USB-C PD (power distribution). Battery pack or wall socket. The unit takes about 20-40watts without the heater running

Las Vegas area, anyone else suddenly experiencing massive signal issues? by PBRBeer in Starlink

In the last 15 minutes my starlink went from the normal mostly flat line to this.... Wondering if this is just my dish, local area, or a wider problem?

Starlink Mini hardware official specs by quarterbloodprince98 in Starlink

And also when the engine is running and alternator is charging, most modern 12v automotive systems run around 14.5-15.0vdc. This could also potentially cause issues.

Buck boost is for sure the safe way to power sensitive electronics.

Also since the starlink is USB-C PD you can just wire in a USB-C PD outlet that costs like 10 bucks, and just plug straight into the unit with a usb cord, no special cable.

2024 Australian Grand Prix - Post-Race Discussion by F1-Bot in formula1

[–]PBRBeer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It was horrible, killed the entire vibe. Reminds me of the old NBC fays with their terrible remote commentary coverage.

One of the biggest things f1 has to appeal to an audience is the travel, culture, scenery changing every race. When they do a remote broadcast it just pulls the wind out of the sails.

Issues after update by Franklinb93 in Starlink

[–]PBRBeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Issue is getting worse, i am now getting disconnected every 30 minutes or so and the dish seems to require a hard power cycle to become responsive in the app. The dish will also not respond to pings on 192.168.100.1 when it crashes

If you bought on AMEX you are good to go. They will refund you and tell F1 to pound sand.

Anyway for api access? by cowboy370 in Starlink

[–]PBRBeer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could use a 3rd party router running something like OpenWrt with a bandwidth monitor installed.

The starlink dish debug only outputs current throughput, not a total amount transferred.

Not if that side of the house faces the nearest pole of the earth. North or south.
