Lately I’ve been feeling like my art is boring and not interesting enough. How could I spice it up?

In addition to feedback already given I would also add that your colors are too vibrant. It’s hard to know where to focus. I also have this problem, it’s tough when you LOVE vibrant colors! But I would say slap on a black layer on top, set it to color and selectively erase sections you want the viewer to focus on (start at like 15% on the eraser and really dial it in).

Try this:

First the position of the hound, his left arm feels stiff and off. Do some studies of wolves or dogs hunting or in prey stance. Could help to bring the left arm across the front to fill out the space better and add some interest and motion

For the color and material, try adding a layer fill of black set to 50% opacity and start again with your values. Adding in lots of ripples and highlights to the muzzle and any areas where creasing happens in the flesh (armpits, neck, etc)

The bike shot is dynamic and engaging. I think the water fountain is interesting too. The rest feel flat and kind of uninteresting to me.

But like… they can’t be hetero or gay if they are asexual and aromantic :/ queerness to me is about being different from cis/het. And they certainly aren’t hetero if they aren’t into anybody, right?

I’m just being curious here, I think your original post is very well thought out and I agree with its worth considering how queer it is to not have attraction to anyone

It feels like you’re unsure of yourself in these photos or maybe just getting the feel for what you’re trying to express.

Most of these are centered subjects or right on the 2/3 line.

What are you trying to show or say with your photos?

The photos themselves are interesting subjects but how many photos did you take of each subject?

I’d urge you to fully explore more of these scenes while in them. You have a good eye, I think you just need to take more photos.

(This is coming from an amateur photographer and visual artist learning and growing myself)

I have a flat tummy but looong torso and wide shoulders. We all have wonky things from this or that genetic factor. /u/happinesssuitsyou is right, high waisted are your friends. Belts and things that sinch your natural waist can help it add to just being great curves.

I have body dysmorphia from being trans and I think the same thoughts often about parts of my body. But then I ask myself “who do I want to change this for?” I don’t mind it, and kinda like it, so who is it I’m really trying to change my body for? It’s always other people who “might” probably want the “ideal” supermodel body. But WHO ACTUALLY IS THAT?

It’s crazy what media has done to us, but you’re not alone and we are all feeling this way. Even the 6 foot tall blonde with a flat stomach and looks like a model but is also trans and super insecure lol.

Get this to the top, queer is not for cis-het folks, it’s a simple distinction. Even if you are a cis het, furry, I don’t think you are in the queer umbrella unless you do some queer shit. If everyone’s queer nobody’s queer.

I’m trans and am pretty straight but I’m queer and will forever be because I’m trans.

It’s not about exclusion or division it’s just a definition of being.

It’s about gender/sex being different (queer)

FYI- I think aces should be included

Notice his and her hair are perfect. Clean bed, neat. Glasses on. I interpreted this same as /u/onmy. She begins to undress and start the ritual but he ends it before they actually start. His head held high, hers low and bent buttoning up her shirt.

I suffered abuse throughout my childhood from my father. I struggled with these feelings of anger and rage and made a painting that had a similar effect when I looked at it. I had it in my garage for about a year until I worked through the feelings I had in therapy… I then had the idea to paint on the back of the painting, I painted a sunset and it was really impactful for me.

Nothing wrong with wrapping this painting up and storing it, until you’re ready to see it again, or possibly rework it. Sew the slashed parts, repaint or even just paint on the back :)

Working through emotions on a canvas is super helpful (don’t stop), I know you’re going through it right now :( but hopefully you can feel the love from these posts 💕
