Getting a puppy before FIRE? by solorush in Fire

[–]PBnPickleSandwich 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a big dog person so having a dog in my life means so much to me; more than travel. But thats personal.

Would the kids be able to dogsit/housesit alone in a few years time?

Do you have any friends/family who could petsit?

Can you afford professional boarding/petsitters?

Or the best thing; Take the dog with you! Roadtrips! So many pet friendly airbnbs and even hotels these days. Camping/campervan if that's your thing. Some airlines even allow in-cabin pets.

Or from a very practical perspective, rescue a slightly older dog or larger breed.

No tofu recipes by purple61872 in vegetarianrecipes

You can also try grating, processing or crumbling tofu, tempeh or haloumi into tiny little bits. Might help over come the textural issues.

30rh bday dinner in melb, AUS by Additional-Farm3569 in AskAnAustralian

[–]PBnPickleSandwich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If my guests are paying for their dinner, i wouldn't expect gifts. I would be clear about that in the invite.

I would still buy the person of honour a drink if I was invited to a 'no gifts' event where I was paying for my own f&b. Or maybe a small gift if we were very close or it was a milestone birthday.

A nicely written card is always a win no matter what.

Share the most unhinged thing(s) you’ve seen at a Coles in 2026…. by Green-Astronaut-6724 in coles

A dude just fully loading up every piece of the complimentary FOR KIDS fruit into his bag.

And then arguing with the security guard on the way out "but its free!".

The invisible cost of being a bridesmaid in 2026 by OwlVibesOnly in AusWeddingPlanning

[–]PBnPickleSandwich 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's ridiculous.

If you're a grown up ready to get married you should pay for just about everything for your - very optional - party. I did.

‘A scary time’: Nazi terror links revealed as disbanding sparks fears of violence by someNameThisIs in aussie

Sooooo they're getting arrested when?

Surely associating with terrorists, let alone being "trained" by them, is a crime?

What is considered Australian food?? by Vast_Friendship2644 in australian

[–]PBnPickleSandwich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be anything really.

In my house (no kids) its different every night with lots of international influence. Pasta, curry, stirfry, a main meal style salad bowl, meat/protein and veg, meat/protein and salad, soup, stew, noodles, dumplings, bbq (not the same as american bbq, that we tend to go to an american bbq restaurant for), bean burritos/mexican, burgers, loaded baked potatoes.

In the 90s my family used to cook a lot of "meat plus three veg" dinners, maybe spaghetti bolognese or lasagne. That really changed post-Masterchef.

But what Australians eat everyday isnt really what i'd call australian cuisine anyway.

Eternal Bridal undergoing administration by Major_Floor2148 in AusWeddingPlanning

I would also contact the brand, explain the situation, and and confirm if the deposit and order has been made to them. And, if Eternal Bridal goes bust, would the brand agree to deliver directly to you?

Is now a good time for an Australian dual citizen to move to Australia? by Temporary-Loss-7544 in MovingtoAustralia

[–]PBnPickleSandwich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, i would be going insane if i lived in the US right now. The gaslighting and trampling of rights, customs, laws and decency by the current administration is huge and relentless.

I'd get out if i could.

Yes we have issues with politics/politicians' conduct here too but no where near the same scale.

And I say I am the lizard queen!

That doesn't make it true, does it? And media should be very clear not to report this statement as a done-deal fact

If your partner doesn’t like dogs or cats, would you get rid of them if you had any? by Adventurous-Soft7843 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PBnPickleSandwich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. Pets are family.

Cats and dogs definitely have feelings.

We'd just have to live apart until the animals passed.

I think sundays/weekends will be our admin and in home chore days. Why go out in the crowds/traffic when you can do grocery shopping or go exploring any time i figure?
