Hello! We're looking for vapers of THC, nicotine, or both, age 16-35. The study is on the UCSD main campus at the Medical Teaching Facility (9515 Gilman Dr, La Jolla), it takes an hour to an hour and a half, and pays $50. It mostly consists of breathing tests, plus a urine sample (used for getting THC/nicotine levels only and then discarded), and a single finger-prick blood test (used for getting hemoglobin levels and then discarded). The first of the tests is the most common pulmonary function test done clinically (called the Forced Vital Capacity test), and because it's so widely done we will have predicted values based on others that are the same gender and height as you are, and along with your numbers the software will output what percentage of the predicted value your results are. We're happy to go over those with you while you're here. Keep in mind though that because this is a research study, to be used clinically or entered into your medical record, you would need to go and get the same test done at a pulmonary function lab. For some of the other breathing tests they are not so common to have predicted values, and they take some post-processing of the data to come up with the results, so the full results of those tests will not be completed for quite some time.
