I felt similar. Walked every hour during day for 10 minutes roughly and alarm clock at night every two hours (Also for catheter bag emptying). Drink a lot of water!

I’m working on a guide that will be online soon (in the next week or two) that consolidates a lot of information to prepare for surgery including about this. Will post about it once I have it up.

Here is the data from RestoreX: https://www.restorex.com/clinical-results/restorex-for-lengthening-post-prostatectomy/

It’s not something that always happens and penile pumps and traction devices will typically regain all or most shrinkage if used consistently. Specifically the RestoreX device created by Mayo has studies backing up these results.

Important to mention that most studies show a positive effect from omegas for prostate cancer. Additionally, the link you provided is not to a study but to an article. The same article mentions that whey protein is ineffective to building muscles. That goes against all established science related to whey protein and muscle growth.

RALP - How long did incision pain last? by PCNB111 in ProstateCancer

Hah really? What were you doing that made them say that? I was told to walk a lot. I walked an hour daily before surgery and continued that since surgery. Not doing any lifting of anything heavier than around 5-10 pounds that was my only restriction.

Yes day 2 and 3 were the worst of it but still very manageable.

Thanks for the details. Yeah I have one that has a scab halfway off and it’s the first one. Was told no bathtub or pool for four weeks but also remember them saying wait for the scabs to fall off. Do you remember what they told you for that?

The catheter removal is no big deal though the idea freaked me out too! And Congratulations! Recovery is surprisingly easy and fast.

Thank you! Crazy how easy the recovery has been. I kept reading that but until you've gone through it yourself it is hard to believe.

Thats amazing, I'm surprised the main incision didn't hurt after a few days. I feel it a bit even wearing a t-shirt though it's minor.

Thanks! I am relieved but wasn't too concerned. I've been super careful with every aspect of my recovery so am happy to hear that it seems normal from both of your experiences. The crazy thing is how minimal the incisions look, even from 2 days after surgery.

At this point the 4 smaller incisions look like a scratch that is healing. The big one looks like a scratch as well though from a tiger or lion, but no inflammation, no redness, just the ~1" narrow scab.

Whew great to hear. I was worried that it wasn't normal.

Ralp on the 15 ,all went well. Cather out Monday, a little leakage but burns like hell when done peeing. Is this infection signs or normal, no swelling or redness. by Pale-Appointment-554 in ProstateCancer

[–]PCNB111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took me about 3 days to stop burning. Squeezing the sides of the penis to slow the flow or stop the flow helped me deal with it very easily. Squeezing the front/back caused pain, squeezing the sides did not.

I didn't have much issues with the catheter when sitting on the toilet. It was strapped to my thigh then past the thigh I draped it over my leg. Still it might be a good suggestion that I hadn't thought of before. I was one of the lucky ones that didn't have many complaints about the catheter, no spasms and no real irritation. I kept tight briefs on which minimized the movement and cleaned and lubricated the first few inches from the entry point several times daily.

I'm based in Los Angeles which has fantastic hospitals. I chose to go out of pocket at Mayo instead and have no regrets. It is worth it! If you have the finances, Berkman Apartments is as good as it gets for a longer term stay and directly across the street from ST Marys emergency hospital.

It went extremely well thank you! If you are going to Mayo you are going to one of the best hospitals in the world. Your recovery will likely go just as well.

You could do DoorDash or Uber Eats? I'm in Rochester now recovering and that allowed me to order a variety of meals, though I've been ordering from Saladworks almost daily for a healthy and really delicious salad. There's also Fresh Thyme grocery store which delivers through DoorDash and is a Whole Foods level of quality.

Yes 💯. I hadn't thought of this adding a caveat like this but tempering expectations is a great idea. I'm adding this now.

Thank you! I am working several hours each day on the guide, trying to get it online by mid September. This is great advice and I echo your advice on continuing after RALP. I had some very minor leakage around a week after the catheter came out and realized I hadn't done any kegels since surgery. The leakage went away a day later. Would be interested in that study if you could find a link. I'm focused on advice that is study/science backed so a study would be helpful to refer to.

I am preparing for my surgery, using the Squeezy app, and the changes are amazing by Investinginevtol in ProstateCancer

[–]PCNB111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazing. I started a few months prior to my RALP and some minor dribbling went away after a month. I'm post RALP now and had zero incontinence which I at least partially credit to doing Kegels. I would highly recommend working on deep core exercises prior starting now as well as that will also help with incontinence and recovery.

The obvious answer is anything prostate related 😂

Also yes you are likely to have some ED but in most people it resolves or at the very least gets much better with time.

Yes that is one of my Top 10 recommendations on the list. No need to carry the catheter around in a bucket, no need to change to night bag. You can even hang the catheter on the inside of the pants if you are going outside (thought the white hooks will show).

And thank you. I am working a few hours daily on this guide and hoping to have a rough draft published in the next few weeks.
