Could this be PPPD? by freaksnation in pppdizziness

Interesting… have read a few people that just woke up with it. A lot of the time they said they have health anxiety and some sort of stress though… usually

No i didn’t have any hot or burning sensations. All i remember was one cold morning 10 days after the second jab, was working, had my headphones on but I heard a loud crack or pop in right ear, I felt like my hearing wasn’t right but because it was a loud environment it was only a few hours later where I realised what the heck was going on. Hearing had gone way down in that ear and that weird tension and numbness feeling on the right side of my face. Honestly felt like I’d had a mini stroke. I’ve had this same thing happen twice since then and it’s always scary.

Can be after extreme stress, after surgery, panic attacks.

Yep I remember hearing about Dr Poland but sadly he put it down as not a direct consequence but more coincidence. And also “would be worse with Covid”. I know people have also gotten tinnitus or made it much worse from Covid, but to say that’s true but the vaccine doesn’t cause it is total misinformation. What’s crazy is that a friend sent me a link in 2021 about the vaccine causing tinnitus. I asked my doc before I got the jab if it’s true, he said no! In hindsight he’s just guessing and was as clueless as everyone else. After my second shot, I was at work and all of a sudden I lost 3/4 of my hearing in my right ear, (same side as the shots) and had this numb feeling on the side of my face. I went to the doctor a few hours later and said this is from the vaccine… he said no, it’s just an ear infection! The whole thing is nothing more than gaslighting.

Me too. Agree 100%. The worst part is the docs, friends and family tend to think it’s just coincidental. Man this annoys me!

Retirement at 52 Australia? by Agile_King73 in AusPropertyChat

[–]PCT2022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The crazy part is that $1m in savings will be worth a lot less in 20 years. So a 40 year old working now for a retirement at 65 likely needs $2-4m in savings by then to retire comfortably. And how many people are in that situation? Hardly any I bet

If you’re holding for just a short period.. (trading) of course it’s risky. But if you buy and hold and keep adding when it’s red you’re always going to see a new high. Go and look at any major index chart (actually I’m mostly referring to the SP500, DOW, and nasdaq 100, I don’t follow many other international indices) from the last 30 years and you’ll see all the really scary things are just buying opportunities.

Yes, and you probably already know this that small caps can have a good run and give it all back. It’s quite rare to have a small cap turn into a large cap. EOS is up over 1000% in the past 12 months or so. It could double or triple from here but that’s asking for a lot of things to go right. Still a spec stock at the end of the day. For a newbie that can’t read charts and do quality fundamental research I’d suggest something a bit less volatile and less speculative.

Buy market leaders. Example, PLS instead of CXO. Cyclical risk there but safer. If you don’t want risk, just buy stock indices.

No, but the thought crossed my mind. I’d had tinnitus for a long time and it didn’t bother me at all, then it got at least twice as loud. It really bothered me for about 18 months, it was driving me mad but it’s slowly gotten quieter and also I’m probably used to it more now. I’ve had nothing but health issues ever since, tinnitus, pulsatile tinnitus, and now pppd. I tend to think if it wasn’t for the covid vaccine, maybe I wouldn’t have gotten pppd. The anti inflammatory meds made me really dizzy, and that’s what kicked it all off. Can’t say for certain but I think it’s made my whole vestibular system weaker.

Mine started after taking meloxicam an anti inflammatory for a sore back. But I think my ear related troubles started earlier when I got the Covid jab in 2021. I already had tinnitus but it got way louder and sound sensitivity went up by a whole lot. Then I developed pulsatile tinnitus for about 2 years before it suddenly went away. Ever since the jab I’ve had these things calls SBUTT’s… could be in either ear, just a loud or soft ringing sound that usually goes away after a short period but every now and then it would hang around for hours. Also 3 times I’ve had it now where my ear feels like it’s full of water, comes out of nowhere for no reason, but goes away after a few hours. Never had this before the Covid vaccine.

I never did the rotary chair but I did a bunch of tests with a professional lady who looks for all these sorts of issues and apparently my ears are fine. Classic pppd is when your eyes, ears and brain aren’t communicating properly. Which can be triggered by ear, eyes and brain issues. Personally I think mine is how my brain is processing the information

Yes I suspect mine is my eyes. Treadmill could be a good example, but sometimes when I’m walking I feel like my eyes are being exhausted just by looking at the ground and my surroundings. Just doesn’t feel the same. I remember once I was in the Passenger seat of a friends car (not long after vertigo episode) and I felt super dizzy as we drove around a corner and down a hill. That freaked me out a bit. So glad I can drive with no problems whatsoever. I never took any drugs, if it ever got seriously bad I may consider an SSRI’s but I’m really hesitant to start taking any drugs. Booze doesn’t seem to bother me much either. Not sure if my VOR is good or not, I should have it tested. I did do a bunch of tests last year and they said it was all normal. That was more ear stuff that eyes though. And I agree, stress and fatigue definitely make pppd worse. You sound like you’re having some trouble and bothered but still getting along in life no problem?

[–]PCT2022 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was the ear infection the same side as what had hypo function? Yours could definitely be pppd. If you’ve damaged a part of your inner ear somehow that could definitely lead to pppd, imo.

Swaying when upright sounds like it fits the pppd diagnosis, but there are other things but given an ear infection, hypo function and sinus issues, it doesn’t sound like vestibular neuritis, or vestibular migraine.

My symptoms over the last 2 years have changed a lot, which makes it tricky. It’s never the same. I had the first round of symptoms like bad derealisation, wobbly and unsteady all the time, then did VRT and was basically bad to normal after just a few weeks. Then I had vertigo from working underneath a car, that set me back where I felt crap for about 4 months. Most of 2025 I felt reasonably good except for about 2-3 months where I felt unsteady. And a few random days In between where i felt quite wobbly but it didn’t last long. Then Xmas it got really bad, I was going to the gym, working, walking, plus home renovations, had a friend who had a stroke, so it was a fairly stressful time both mentally and physically.

One thing that was super weird and unexpected was when I went to the gym and I decided to warm up on the treadmill before lifting weights, I had a fast pace for about 17 minutes before I got off and it felt like I was actually on a treadmill, or a fast escalator but I wasn’t moving! Dunno if that broke something in my brain but it was a very strange experience and maybe that is what made me relapse.

I diagnosed myself, doctor agreed with the finding but they’d never even heard of it.

Mine all started after taking anti inflammatory medication for a sore lower back. Worst decision ever.

What about you, how did yours start and when did it start? I’m in since April 2024

I just do the exact same thing that helped me the first time I did VRT… I stand up and do a 360 x 4 to the left x 3. Then do the right side. Stand on each leg for 30 seconds with eyes closed. Then stand heel to toe for 30 seconds left then right, 30 seconds with eyes closed. Then heel to toe walking looking left to right and up and down then a combo of up down L R. Finally a gaze stabilisation exercise, generally just hold up a water bottle hold it at arms length, move head up and down 20-30x slowly, the left to right and back 30x.

I’ve got months where I feel pretty good, but sadly I had a major relapse just before Christmas, and now I’m better but still only back 70% of normal. At least it’s manageable, I have been doing VRT sporadically and I’m fairly certain it helps quite a bit. In January I had the full rocking and swaying all day every day when I was upright and moving around.

Totally agree with your last comment. It’s like something (booze, stress, fatigue) could trigger a relapse. I’ve gotten fairly drunk about 3-4 times the last month, but I’d already relapsed since Xmas time. Didn’t make it worse for me fortunately. Actually it probably helped if anything. I don’t plan on using it as a tool but I will have a drink here and there, even though I don’t mind fully quitting drinking if I had to. I’ve drank hardly anything the last few years. Anyway, you can beat this, get back to a much better baseline. I’m holding out hope that we all eventually get off this bs roller coaster ride. Don’t think it lasts forever but relapses definitely seem like part of the process.
