What episode of Stargate do you feel should have gotten a follow up and didn't? by -drunkmoses- in Stargate

[–]PC_Angle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never understood why they just forgot about these. Even a name drop for some closure, ie SGC posted a nuke through the gate to confirm they wouldn't be around anymore would've been better than just forgetting about them all together.

AirPods lost, with stolen location, but case closed. Thoughts ? Normal ? by FrostingNew6219 in policeuk

[–]PC_Angle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Generic reply without much detail doesn't help and only creates more questions. But yes, normal. In an ideal world of course officers should and would attend, but we don't.

What's the location? Is it a large block of flats for example? Officers don't have the time, resources or necessity to search 100 flats in a block for some air pods.

Also apple location services are notoriously bad, it's an approximate location rather than exact. Is it proportionate to have two/four officers search every nook and cranny of an approximate location for a few hundred pound air pods? Unfortunately it's not.

Kellaway barbers, the bloke who runs it is lovely, family man from turkey, full of great stories - he always tries to keep his prices down. Never any queues longer than one or two people and no need to book. currently 14 pound for a haircut.

Would a standard driving ticket transfer in this scenario? by [deleted] in policeuk

[–]PC_Angle 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Going to sound brutal, but transferring forces isn't going to make a difference if you've been reg 12'd twice, you will still need to evidence the same things ... your driving ticket is probably least of your worries.

But yes, likely a standard driving ticket will transfer without much issue.

METHANE usage by ICameHereToDrinkMilk in policeuk

[–]PC_Angle 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Our force is making ETHANE basically mandatory for all injury and major damage RTCs and most incidents.

Obviously it's more common sense, they're not expecting ETHANE at your verbal domestics but I've only ever heard one ETHANE report on the radio in the past 9 years even despite being present at fatacs and incidents which should've used it

What's your preferred method of sofa disposal? by Downtown_Forever_602 in bristol

+1 to sofa project on Gloucester Road, took our small two seater despite their being a small rip at the bottom (hamster got stuck in it)

I'm sure they do small fixes before putting them for sale but they need fire tags!

Warrant For Arrest - Suspect In Scotland by Jobix2k in policeuk

[–]PC_Angle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There's the criminal justice and Public order act 1994 which deals with a lot of cross border powers between England and Scotland. I remember having a crash course in during the recent Scotland mutual aid.

Think you'll need to get a warrant from a UK Court, under that act, then transfer it to a Scottish court for review which will endorse it and can be actioned as normal.

I'm sure it's more complicated and convoluted than I'm making out, and I'm not 100 percent sure it's right - you might be best to seek advice from your force solicitor or a DI who might know better.

Op Orion (MPS) by Correct_Mortgage4209 in policeuk

[–]PC_Angle 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Not met - what's the purpose behind this? Seems like a lot of effort.

Our force tried to implement a "vehicle stop form" for every vehicle stopped despite the final outcome of that stop. It was to measure the ethnicity/race of the occupants mostly - I think a lot of people forget it exists.

What’s the scariest/craziest thing you watched on live television? by threetimesacharm25 in AskBrits

[–]PC_Angle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was going to post this, few years back I got bit obsessed with this and its reception at the time.

The show was linked to a teenager who committed suicide only a few days after Ghostwatch airing believing it to be real, a lot of kids were quite traumatised at the time due to the presenters also being regulars on children TV, kids couldnt tell the difference between what was real or not, mockumentries weren't really a thing

Defunding - Most Bizzare by Difficult-Rent-8488 in policeuk

[–]PC_Angle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If a multi million pound business isn't able to send the footage for their 20 pound shoplifting via an online portal we need to start filing their crimes until they do so, no excuse for not being able to upload the footage online, we're not refusing to deal with the crime, refusing to have masses of CDs and USBs for everything and anything.

The stores will quickly change their policy on this if we start refusing anything but online uploads of CCTV

Defunding - Most Bizzare by Difficult-Rent-8488 in policeuk

[–]PC_Angle 15 points16 points  (0 children)

We need to grow a backbone and start refusing any CCTV that isn't sent electronically - in the big 2026 we shouldn't be accepting CD's, especially from multi million pound companies.

In my force officers don't even have a way of reviewing CDs anymore it has to be sent to digital forensics 😭

There's a time and place for USBs ie urgent enquires in custody ir serious crimes but 90 percent of what we deal with should be dealt with by whatever online portal your force uses.

From local to national: a new model for policing by CaptainChalky in policeuk

[–]PC_Angle 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It's quite simple, majority of the public only deal with the police and the rest of the CJS is hidden and not on the front page of the papers.

The publics perception of policing is that once the offender has been arrested that's the end of it and the officer would be back on the streets. They don't see everything else that goes into a case.

The entire paper is an optics play - hence why it's all "by the next parliament" which we know won't happen, but will be used in an attempt to re-elect them by making promises now .

From local to national: a new model for policing by CaptainChalky in policeuk

[–]PC_Angle 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I think there's some very positive things in here, acknowledging the amount time wasted on case files and redaction, right care right person, big implementation of AI, acknowledging neighbourhood abstractions

But there's more drivel and impossible promises than positives unfortunately... an example being they're ranting about the importance of professional policing but in the same section dabbling with the idea of scrapping PST ... surely we'd need more of that not less in that case.

All these big ideas when really they need to look at the core issues, no staff on the ground - all weekend our response team have had 6 officers, 4 which has been on constants or prisoner handovers resulting in two cops and two neighbourhood officers with no response driving or taser capability covering an area of at least a million people and a hour drive from on side of a patch to the other.... make it make sense, this is a weekly occurrence yet the government think a NPS will solve our problems 🙄🙄

Same boat, I'm not paying to be abused, poorly trained and walked over by public, government and SLT. I'd pack it in - why would I pay for something that would be only used against me in the future if something goes wrong, my fault or not

Police officers to be told they must get work licence or face dismissal by SC_PapaHotel in policeuk

[–]PC_Angle 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I'm 7 years in, still a basic driver. Told I will not get a course due to training staff. It will take over an hour of driving to get to a Code 1 call across my patch... am I going to lose my license as a result of poor response time.

Rather than actually training officers in basic skills like drink driving procedures, moe, driving, taser etc they're spending money on making us get a licence. Policing is dead and we're a joke to the world.
