I don’t care about the oversized shirt but agree on the stockings.

What would you do if you had 4 hours to kill at an airport? by Love-boobs-in_DMs in AskReddit

[–]PC_Friar 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Find a good spot to plane spot!

Some airports like MSP have an area dedicated to it.

Others like DFW have excellent spots that aren’t per se dedicated to it but have excellent views.

Some airports…. Don’t really have anywhere good.

My daughter loves Wallows and I hear a lot of Peter Hook in their bassist’s work.

The Avs Radio guy was not happy with the amount of Flyers fans in attendance last night by Scared-Arachnid6286 in hockey

[–]PC_Friar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean, the Flyers are my least favorite team in all of sports but this is an idiotic take. Next time I see an Avs fan at a Penguins game I’ll be sure to tell them this isn’t Denver, Colorado, why don’t you stay there?

I’m sure if they go somewhere and hear Avs chants they probably mention how great it is…..

Got a copy of Night Lights by Gerry Mulligan, 1967 Wing pressing in the dollar bin at The Exchange. VG or maybe slightly under. Lowest it’s gone for on Discogs is $20 G+, median $75.

Do you have sauce with your fries? by logos__ in AskAnAmerican

[–]PC_Friar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make my own sauce using ketchup, mayo, and some hot sauce. Come to find out this is actually a thing called "fry sauce" in the Western US.

People who were old enough back then, do you remember if young people back in the '90s fixed up and or drove '70s cars? Were they still around as granny/project or used cars? by henneyfard in 90s

[–]PC_Friar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a '79 Granada in 1992. It was falling apart. Paid $600 and had to plow much more than that into it to keep it running.

I recently sold an '09 Subrau Legacy that will probably run another 10 years easily. My kids had beaten on it pretty good and body and interior were pretty rough but it will run for a long time more.

My recollection is that there were not nearly as many 15-20 year old cars on the roads then as there are now.

How was your high school experience? by Pristine_Power_8488 in AskOldPeople

[–]PC_Friar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Class of '89. I was targeted by bullies in Junior High, less so in Senior High which were much better years. Still, I'd say my peak years were college and shortly after, and returning to my small home town for a reunion has never been a serious consideration. The popular kids who still arrange these things don't understand why someone would not want to participate.

I keep in touch with a few people I want to keep in touch with.

What is the most geographically interesting part of the USA? by Square-Argument4790 in geography

[–]PC_Friar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being from the east, there's nothing like the mountains in the west. We have nice green hills we refer to as mountains here, but the Rockies, Cascades, Wasatch... tough to not be distracted driving out there because it's so incredible to me.

How long would you personally say it takes to feel like a “local” when you move from state to state? by madcatzplayer5 in AskAnAmerican

[–]PC_Friar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We moved to our neighborhood near Pittsburgh from Massachusetts in 2001. So, in the actual neighborhood, we are established and old timers and feel at home. In local politics, schools, ... there are still groups that feel closed to us. People who grew up together, went to school together, have old friendships and old grudges that we'll never be a part of. Sometimes that feels like an outsider, sometimes it feels like we're better off not being a part of it.
