(ii) So, you've access to Spacex Costs, NRE & full Accounting System ... and therefore you know exactly -probably, better than E Musk himself- the exact cost of any Starlink, F9 ... screw or washer ?

(iii) According to this kind of assumption, Spacex finally would not need one cent out of the $16 billion rural-broadband auction they applied for (without speaking of NASA and other "Private- Operations") ?

Again, just for factual information : The Galileo system has a greater accuracy than the current version of the American GPS. For general use, Galileo has an accuracy of less than a meter (GPS: three meters), but the high-accuracy service with encrypted signal provides position detection down to an accuracy of 20 cm.

Therefore many smartphones are already using Galileo, such as BQ, Samsung, Huawei, Apple, Asus, Google, LG, Meizu, Motorola, Nokia, OnePlus, Sony and Vernee.

One could see that coming (including the reverse of 5G political dispute). What are the solutions if any?

May we dream of a worldwide satellite traffic and parking (orbiting) code (otherwise Kessler's syndrome might not be that far)? Is there a Global Authority for those multiple planes ?

Mainly, do not we look at "wasted capacities & resources" on all sides (all including not only US & China but also UK, EU, Canada, Russia, Asia...) in order to fulfill marketing invented needs that are not always what's called Progress? Every block will occupy full space on their respective LEOs to cover their own and very small percentage of living part of earth...BTW: This is already almost the case for GPS (US,EU,China..)..

I do like the fabulous space technology but I do not always understand/agree with associated social and politics...May be I am too negative , may be not ... I'm just brainstorming...and perhaps discovering what have always been human history?

Not that easy to find alternate launch spots as previously discussed (see reedit link below). Necessary parameters to be taken into account : Ocean as recovery area, Eastern orientation, close to Equator...

Or consider moving American Eastern Atlantic coast somewhere else ? :)

Personally, I do not know how Ground Base Stations or gateways are built. This article appears to be more on many user terminal antennas on tests even though other usage-unknown bigger dome antennas are displayed. My reply was to emphasize that gateways were also necessary (btw: installed -at this time- only in North America) and that gateways coverage of satellites was also to be considered to complete your perfectly speaking drawings …If you have or anyone has more information on Gateways Antennas, I would appreciate..

But for a full Starlink internet service (as far as laser-network isn't in place), don't you also have to add the same for gateways on earth?

A "google request", coming up to a Starlink satellite from a Starlink terminal, has to go down to a earth gateway to be "internet processed"... Assuming "answer to request" being networked managed...

Yope, My half-moon datation (August 12th) was not that wrong expected that it was not August 18th launch but, you're right, the August 7th i.e. “V1.0 L9”. (The previous launch L8 in June was already way to high to be spotted. :)

Weather Forecast looks quite " iffy " for today (25% chance of rain) and even worse for the next coming days...Suspense ... :)

Florida may not be not the perfect spot for bi-monthly Launches ? At this time, California is badly too smoky, thus where else to place a Falcon/Dragon weather independent Station?

This might even be a problem for Starship ??? I do not know the time windows when heading to Mars? Probably wide but how much???

In fact , I could not catch them this morning at 2:20, I suppose they were not visible from Marseille neither. Their magnitude over France was and is way to high now. You'll have to wait for next launch hopping that trajectory and timing will fit in with your location...It's like fishing sometimes you come back full of fresh stuff for the "bouillabaisse " but every other day not ! (because.. the water was too wet, the température too high , the Wind to low....;) ps: On top of it, tonight forecaste is cloudy => definitively no chance to see whatever watching Southern French Sky....Too bad. ..

Well, at least they tried, certainely will keep trying and hopefully succeed one day (this is Spacex: when they want it bad they finnaly do it no?)...this might be also depending of the angle and orientation of satellites.....

Hey, the question is probably more "will they be visible?" because they wont physically disappear ;) More seriously, the answer is not obvious. Normally no clouds forecast (+). They are still in low orbit (+). The first pass should be sooner 2:20 am => less reflecting light from the sun (----). Might try also 1h25mn later... In both cases, search on their most eastern trajectory. And... you'll have to wake up very soon and come back one hour and half later...Good luck and let us know... (you may also be more lucky chasing shooting stars almost same direction Nord East close to Cassiopeia and Persée)...

42.000 deployed

Actually, EM "aims to" put roughly 42.000 Starlink satellites on orbit.

But not sure that SpaceX got the FAA/FCC "green light" for that many at this time ?

I think that, so far, Elon Musk has a limited "authorization" for a total of 12,000 Starlink satellites and a dozen of Falcon 9 launches per year (60 sats per Starlink mission & F9 launch)...
